In 1983, we played at the same festival with DBFS. For our set, one of their songs was our 'hit'. We didn't have many of those, and I wasn't thrilled singing it - with them sitting on the grass, 10 feet away! They were a great band, and I didn't burst into flames. And they had an album and book with the best name - 'lonesome as a car on blocks'.
One of the many bluegrass bands I love: non of those dirggy old sleepers. Beutiful harmonies around ONE microphone. Parallel harmonies. You can't go wrong!
Saw this combination of the band in Atlanta about 1997 or 1998. Wish they were still together in this format. Harmony was best then, I think. Great post!
Such a lovely song, excellent rendition. I play mandolin and am going to have add this one to my "Learn Soonest" song list. Slightly different wording from the Si Khan original, but still good. Thanks!

Sorry, that was The Hotmud Family I was thinking about, in the first paragraph.

This is a very fine bluegrass group. They are great live on stage. Great old song.

The best version of this song.
A classic voice with the pathos to match the lyrics of this fine song. Very good!
Another brilliant tune from one of the first bands that taught me to hear and like bluegrass.
Really good pickin. Great harmony.
Sad sad
for the country.
aint' it the truth
Great composition, wonderfully conducted by Ron Thoason and his band. They know how it must be sung and played.
Good job and so true.
Please keep it up.
DBS, great group love to hear them sing the song about the blue and the grey
Awesome song, I heard the Fureys play this as Belfast Mill, same old story about people looking for work wherever you go I guess,
