    This lens exceeded my expectations! The sharpness in close-up portraits is incredible, and the build quality is solid with a nice metallic feel.

    I bought the TTArtisan 56mm and have been very satisfied with it. The sharpness is beyond my expectations. I believe it’s the most cost-effective 56mm lens on the market.

    I’m honestly shocked by how sharp this lens is! Wide open, the results are already impressive, and stopping down slightly brings even more clarity to the edges. TTArtisan did an amazing job balancing quality and price-this feels like a lens that should cost twice as much. The metal body gives it a premium vibe, which I absolutely love.

    Another excellent video! Concise delivery of information without the long and tedious inroduction that others use. I very much like your presentation style. A good lens that I will certainly be considering. Excellent images around Tilburg too.

    I’m an MFT user and recently got the 25 mm and 50 mm f2 TTartisan lenses following your reviews. Very happy with both.

    I think their first AF lens for APS-C was the 27mm f2.8, no? Anyway, greeat video as always! 😃

      Actually you're very correct. I made a pretty obvious mistake there. What's more funny, because I did review the TT Artisan 27/2.8 myself 😂 ...

      I was obviously only thinking of the TT Artisan 35/1.8, which is the same "series" as this new 56/1.8.
      I do like the TT Artisan 27/2.8 a lot. It also has the aperture ring which I love so much when using a Fuji X camera!

    Nice review, and I realize that ttartisan went into viltrox territory. Viltrox just launched 56mm f/1.7 for $139. Seeing both performance, it'll be an uphill battle for ttartisan.
    The true champion will be decided at how fast they will reach the market as far as possible. A classic distribution and logistics war for Asian 😊

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes! It is really interesting that also Viltrox finally realized that there is a market for low-budget AF APS-C lenses.
      TT Artisan already has the 35/1.8 which proves they are very capable of producing good AF lenses. While Viltrox can build on their existing experience with the f/1.4 lenses.

      Many thanks Kim! Yes I also hope so. With auto focus lenses it’s really harder to tell but usually if an electronic item lasts the first 2 years, it should then last pretty long. And I don’t think any manufacturer will create items that don’t survive those first 2 years because that’s the minimum warranty period in the European Union … not sure how it is in the U.S. or other major markets.

    More and more interesting lenses coming from those Chinese manufacturers. This one seems to be a real no-brainer for someone entering one of the supported APS-C mounts on a budget level. I do wonder, though, whether any of those manual-focus lens manufacturers which have now begun treading in autofocus territory might consider to support MFT at some point, too!

    Great video, Tom! 👍 Between this lens, viltrox 56mm and xf 50 f2 which one would u recommend especially for portrait photography? Thanks before

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They're all really good. I'm a fan of the XF 50/2 cause it has a slightly faster / more snappy AF and is a very compact and optically super sharp lens - for portraits though, I like the Viltrox 56/1.4 because of the wider aperture. These both are more expensive than the TT Artisan 56/1.8 though!
      I did not shoot the Viltrox 56/1.7 yet which is the direct competitor to the TT Artisan ...

    I want a 56mm for my xt4. Seems like there are suddenly three tiers of lens available.
    I can't justify the fujinon lens, was thinking the sigma 1.4 is the way to go, but now this set of 1.7/1.8s arrives. A dilemma - do you have a view on the comparison between the 1.4s and the 1.8s now available?
    If nothing else, hopefully the used price for the sigma reduces a bit.

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Viltrox f/1.4 and Sigma f/1.4 lenses are "one step" up above this. In that case, I personally don't like that the APS-C Sigma's also don't have an aperture ring which I think should be present at that price point. But the Sigma's performance is universally praised so they're a good buy if you don't mind that missing aperture ring! Sadly, I didn't have an opportunity to compare these so far.

    • @stewreviews9345
      @stewreviews9345 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tomscameras yes, I like an aperture ring but I think that the sigma's clarity and sharpness are probably worth more than Viltrox's aperture ring. Prefer the cosmetic look of the Viltroxs as well on Fuji but there we are...

      Several options: You want manual focus? Then watch this video:
      th-cam.com/video/QuYFj4JHEFs/w-d-xo.html
      You want manual focus and the fastest possible lens? Consider the 7Artisans 35/0.95, here's my review:
      th-cam.com/video/X4MZAJZC-LU/w-d-xo.html
      You want autofocus? There are not many TT Artisan lenses with auto focus yet, only the 56/1.8 and the 35/1.8:
      th-cam.com/video/jsNkbPjJBmo/w-d-xo.html
      If you have a higher budget, then you should also consider the f/1.4 Viltrox and Sigma lenses! And if your budget is even higher, I'd also have a look at the original Fujinon lenses.
