What a great review, compiles a few of the best options for this focal length so well! Just what I was looking for, thank god for creators like yourself!!
Thanks for this great review - I was considering the Viltrox and the Sirui previously - I bought the TTartisan version on a whim last week. To test it out I took some portraits of my cats and dog and took some shots of flowers outside my home. I think the minimum focus distance is still too long but overall I really like the lens and I'll be taking it with me when I do some street photography in NYC nest week along with my Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 which is a lens I love - at 18mm it can be used as a macro lens - the bokeh is great and the minimum focus distance of the Sigma at 18mm is about an inch believe it or not. I enjoyed your review and you also have a new subscriber.
As much as I like the Viltrox 56mm, I found myself gravitating toward the TTArtisan 56mm f/1.8 on my Fujifilm XT4. The lens is super sharp in the center, even wide open, and the autofocus keeps up perfectly for video content. The bokeh has a subtle swirl that looks fantastic in outdoor portraits, and the lens feels incredibly sturdy thanks to its metal build.
Out of these three, which one that have reliable auto focus? I shot a lot of my toddler/kids and recently unimpressed with Sigma 60mm f2.8 because it is only do continuous auto focus in the center of the frame
thanks! Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to do side by side comparison between these two lenses to compare the image quality.. I did this review quite a few months ago before I receive the Viltrox.. but the Viltrox end up released first so I couldn't include the TTArtisan in that review either. But i can tell you I believe Viltrox still has better lens flare control, but i also like TTartisan's more solid build quality and lens hood design
Perfect! I love the ttartisan 27mm 2.8 as well so this will be a perfect addition. I wish they would add a lens cap for the metal lens hood (metal or rubber doesn't matter) because i will keep it on all the time probaply and will need to find something fitting to cover it. The old box design was nicer in my opinion but if this new design will help them maintain the good price i am all for it. Cheers🎉
yes agree, it would be good if there is a rubber lens hood. But you could install an UV filter as an alternative, I saw TTArtisan has listed what filter would fit on their website (check my link in description above)
Build quality (metal build, metal square lens hood) is excellent on the TTA. But we should see a 1:1 comparsion, which lens is being better. The Viltrox is excellent for the price, outstanding.
*TTArtisan - bring on a 23mm F1.8 into the same metal design with square lens hood for Fujifilm X-mount ! I'd buy it asap !* Just work out on better, sharper corners, and even better flare resistance (lens multicoating)
Unfortunately I did this review quite a few months ago way before I received the Viltrox.. that's why i compared with the Viltrox 1.4 and Sirui. But when I receive the Viltrox 1.8, this lens's release day is before TTArtisan so I couldn't include the TTArtisan in that review either. :(
Yes I agree. The reason I didn't compare with the viltrox 56 1.7 is because this review was created a few months before the 1.7 viltrox announcement. Quite often we have product reviews done and uploaded but have to wait for months before the product is announced
I got the TTArtisan 56mm, and it's super sharp. Didn’t expect such quality for the price. I’m really happy with it.

Thank you so much for your nice words.

thank you very much Steve!
I bought the TTArtisan lens a couple of weeks ago, and man, the sharpness is on point! It's my favorite for portrait shots.

I picked up the TT Artisan 56mm f1.8 for 129$ on prime day - i cant wait to try it - thank you for the great video!!
Great stuff, Richard! Looks cool.
hey Thanks Shane!

Thank you for this review; it was very helpful!
Is there word on when this lens will be available to purchase?
I believe should be available anytime, i've just added a link to their webstore to the video description above.
Thanks so much!
Been looking forward to this review! What would be your opinion of the TTA 56mm versus the new Viltrox 56mm f1.7?
thanks! Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to do side by side comparison between these two lenses to compare the image quality..

@@TheRealRichardWong Yes that's what i am going to do :)
TTArtisan is a great bang for the buck. The metallic feel of this lens is just next level.
What about the Sigma 56 1.4?
I think it's the best of the third party 56mm APSC lenses
Sorry, I haven't got a chance to compare with the Sigma.
The Sigma is a different price point to these budget alternatives.
EBay may be ?😅@@stevenbamford5245
It's the best
does it become 85mm when using the APSC sony
body?
@@NguyenDenom the optical focal length is still 85mm, but full frame equivalent you need to multiple by 1.5x. This is the same for lens from any brand
Good review. I think I like this a bit more than the viltrox 56 1.7. At least the lens hood is much better than Viltrox which is way too shallow
yes i wish the Viltrox 56 1.7 has a deeper lens hood.
Build quality (metal build, metal square lens hood) is excellent on the TTA. But we should see a 1:1 comparsion, which lens is being better. The Viltrox is excellent for the price, outstanding.

Good idea I would love to see it too
Wish the TTArtisan had been compared to Viltrox's 56mm f1.7 instead. They both cost the same anyway. 😅

I would like to see Viltrox 1.7/56 instead of 1.4/56 for the fair comparison
Yes I agree. The reason I didn't compare with the viltrox 56 1.7 is because this review was created a few months before the 1.7 viltrox announcement. Quite often we have product reviews done and uploaded but have to wait for months before the product is announced
I own three TTartisan lenses. Now I want another!
Enjoy!
TTArtisan seems quite good for the price.
