My home security camera (Defender Guard) points at my driveway and the street in front of my house. All vehicle license plates are automatically blurred through the software (even when stationary). Do you think this is for legal reasons, and is there a way to turn that setting off so I can see the numbers? I mean, what's a security camera for?
The comical thing about this system blurring the plates is...the system as to be able to identify a license plate so it can blur it. Which means it has the ability to ID and record plates. They might require a software use payment to turn on plate capture. Just another way to up sell customers. Check our systems out, they capture plates with no blurring. www.Backstreet-Surveillance.com
i agree i bought 3 arlo's and someone turning around bumped my front end in my driveway one night and could not read the plate so i was told their was nothing i could do all these outside security camera's they sell are not worth the money. i know i will never buy arlo products again
It has much of its operation built into the camera but for full features it should be paired to an NVR, otherwise you have very limited recording and plate number storage capability. Thanks
Is this compatible with my HonView system I got now ?
Hello,
Can it catch front plate at night with headlights ON?
Thank you
Yes, true LPR cameras have the filters to adjust for glare, headlights and taillights.
Are any of these cameras compatible with Lorex home DVR's or NVR's?
No, unfortunately Lorex is consumer grade and a closed system.

Is this a stand alone cam with stand alone software or doesn't this require a particular DVR unit?

Do you have authorized installers? How do I become one? Thanks
We have a dealer program you can take advantage of: www.backstreet-surveillance.com/dealers.html
How do I capture license plate of cars going past my house? Cars are not typically going by fast as I live on a col da sac...

if you find a outdoor camera that will get a lic plate please let me know because i have not found one yet
Does it run separate to the computer or must it go to an nvr?
You can monitor and record to a PC using the client software that comes with the camera but best performance comes from a 4K NVR.
What would it cost roughly if I wanted this camera with a nvr that can support this camera’s features?
I just got some Ring security cameras they're horrible video quality can't even see a number or letter on a license plate.
Correct, if you want plates you have to be intentional about it. A dedicated camera is usually required. www.backstreet-surveillance.com/cs-lpr.html
exactly none of the outside cameras that sell are worth a crap to the consumer
