  • In this video I venture out to Euro Nymph (tight line nymph, Czech nymph - whatever the kids are calling it these days) one of my favorite Colorado freestone rivers. It’s late February but we had some warm weather that broke the big ice up. It wasn’t easy fishing as it rarely ever is in the winter in the Colorado Mountain and this specific canyon, but the fish showed up and we encountered a great sign that this river is recovering from a tough last couple years.

My first euro rod arrives tomorrow and this video has me stoking!! Just gotta decide if I want rig it up with a mono or braided line. What are your thoughts? Great video 🤙🤙🤙

Thanks for watching and the comment. I am currently using 18-20 feet of 8lb Amnesia Mono down to 3 feet of 4x Rio black and white sighter line. I tie it in with a triple surgeons knot and leave the tags (two knots: one where I tie to the amnesia and one between the black and white sections of sighter) to help with visibility. I used to start with 15lb maxima chameleon mono them down to amnesia but I am trying the thinner approach and like it a lot. Either one works great and once you buy the line you want you can make tons of leaders so you don’t have to buy pre-made options.

@@highholescramblers Not yet! It's killing me too lol still waiting for materials to arrive to build out the leader. I did go ahead with the Air-Flo braid-core with 100 yards of black rio 20lb backing. So close to getting ready for her maiden voyage! Probably Boulder Creeks.
