The Witcher 3, Bloodborne, Fallout 4 and MGS:V were the only real standout games for me this year. Couldn't see the appeal in Undertale, but I appreciate that the fans feel so strongly about it.

You might want to try some other genre of games beside heavily marketed AAA games if you only truly enjoyed 4 games this year with how many great one there was. Not saying I liked every single one of them either but there was :

Vita : Persona 4 Dancing All Night, The Legend of Heroes : Trail of Cold Steel, Ar noSurge Plus, Steins;Gate
Ps4 : Bloodborne, Disgaea 5, Until Dawn, TearAway Unfolded
3DS : Majora's Mask, Monster Hunter 4, Devil Survivor 2 : Record Breaker, Yokai Watch, SteamWorld Heist, 2 Etrian Odyssey games
PC : Undertale, Nuclear Throne, Rocket League, The beginner's guide, Cities : Skyline, Pillars of Eternity and some expensions like Starcraft 2 Legacy of the Void and The binding of Isaac Afterbirth
Multiplatform : Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid V, Life is Strange, Tales from the Borderlands, Soma, heck even this year Assassin's Creed was pretty decent.
and plenty more in plenty of genres.
+Toxic Queef Undertale is just one of those games that gets better the more you play it, the story starts making more sense, the characters become more likeable, the bosses become better and better and you'll get attached to the entire game as it goes on. If you play it for 1 hour or so the game might not seem too special, but it's the overall experience combined with the endings that make it so genius.

actually, they said in the finale of their neutral run that they were gonna do the other two endings off camera and make videos on the beard bros afterwards giving their thoughts on it. i would have liked to see full playthroughs of each ending as well but eh, what can you do
ahbeef But Jirard just said that they're about to start two more runs due to popular demand. I think they were going to do that at first, but since everybody complained, they decided to record those runs and continue the series.

I still just can't wrap my head around why people like Undertale so much. I played and beat it, but everything in the game either bored me from disinterest or I actively disliked it. I think the only thing I even sort of liked from that game is Papyrus and even then, I could take him or leave him.

No Jirard, have no fear. Assassin's Creed 3 is not pretty bad. It's pretty good. In fact it's still my favorite Assassin's Creed game to date. This is coming from someone who's played every single game in the series down to Chronicles on the DS.
I can agree with 3 not being bad, but 2,4 and brotherhood were all better than 3

Everyone's got their own tastes, guys. But as it stands, four is nothing but a clone of three. They ripped the gameplay straight out of AC3 down to a T. Then dumbed it down, and introduced one of the worst stories in the whole series. Rogue was what AC4 should have been.
I liked 3 the best as well. I have no idea why, but its still my favorite.
3 was probably my favorite.
- 1 was pure fuckin shite. How this got a sequel, I have no idea.
- 2 was enjoyable. I think that simply being so much better than AC1 (which wasn't a hard thing to do) made this seem a heck of a lot better than it actually was though.
- Brotherhood was a drag.
- Revelations was testing my patience for a protagonist/setting/time period I was ready to leave behind for new themes 2 games ago.
Not played anything past 3 and don't intend to, but of those I have played, 3 was the best.

Every time I see/hear a "forgive me" message for not including a certain game, it saddens me. People need to lighten the hell up and accept that not everyone likes what they like. Fallout 4 isn't for everyone. Phantom Pain isn't for everyone. Witcher 3 isn't for everyone. Also, the word "top" can also mean favorite for that person, not BEST. MY personal favorite game of 2015 was Phantom Pain, but that's simply my own preference. Jirard, forget these people and just talk about what you loved most.

I enjoyed the bit of Fallout 4 that I played, but I know some people that absolutely despised it because of nostalgia glasses (or said it was, subjectively, the best game ever made because of nostalgia glasses).
Unfortunately, the Top # Games of 2015 videos are almost asking for trouble. People will get their opinions hurt, or see a game they don't like and flame everyone they see (looking at you, Undertale haters), but 'tis the way the world is now.
The reason why people hate undertale is because they either hate the fanbase or found the game boring. I don't hate undertale but I don't like either because I've never played it. But tbh most of the fanbase is pretty annoying but I won't hate the game for that.
Witcher 3 is for *me* for reasons.

Hey Jirard, that was a great list and 2015 was a great year, especially for the Completionist. So much amazing content! Really looking forward to what's coming this year.

My personal favorite was Tales from the Borderlands. I know I'm probably alone with all of the Bloodbornes, Witcher 3s, and Undertales (though they are all fucking fantastic games, I won't deny or ignore that) I just had a lot of fun and enjoyed the story and characters in TftB.

i loved MGS V, Bloodborne, Witcher 3, fallout 4 and Splatoon but for some reason my Game of the year was Life is Strange. i just really liked the story and Characters even though it was a bit too "hipster"

The ending you saw was really good, I loved it. Unfortunately, it was really the only ending. Still, the game was so great I can't complain too much.
Oh man. Mario Maker was my runner up for 2015 (very closely following Hotline Miami 2), and it was thanks to you that I played it to begin with, Jirard. It is such a great game.

What a shame MarioMaker is going the same route as Happy Wheels. Thousands and thousands of uninspired gimmick levels that are still being voted to the top. It was so promising, but I can't say I didn't see it coming;.

Yes, but that doesn't make any sense if you're specifically mentioning Pewdiepie since his audience is primarily 8-12 year olds. I dunno if you've really played Mario Maker but I'd say it has a worse percentage of playable levels to absolute crap ones than Happy Wheels. It's reaaally bad right now.

Undertale and Super Mario Maker are definitely my two favorite games of 2015, and maybe even two of my favorite games of all time.
I've never felt so attached to fictional characters like I did in Undertale. Along with that, I really liked the fight/spare system, as well as the way you dodge attacks. I really loved the different endings, the music, and each of the characters in the game.
And for Super Mario Maker, designing Super Mario Brothers levels was something that I have wanted to do ever since I first got into the Mario franchise. I love designing levels, as well as playing levels made by others!
pretty sure the only new games i got this year were just cause 3, fallout 4, and mad max. shame JC3 overheated my console

AC 3 is better than 4 in my opinion. Black Flag was a bore fest. 3, although not as good as the previous entries, at least had some parkour in it.
If I had to choose between Assassin's Creed 3 or 4, I would pick 4, who wouldn't want to be a pirate (....and play song about being a pirate), you can either destory ships or just damage them enough just to jump aboard, clear some threats and choose any option (get a crew mate, another ship, or the things they were carrying that's valuable to you and your ship), but this is the first in the series where you can go underwater and using a harpoon at any fishing spot for sharks, whales (even a white whale) plus there are also crafting for some stats (one can grant you to be better at hunting wild animals or one that you can unlock through a certain chain quest can give you a Templar armor, which has really high defense).
Xenntar Why are you telling me this? I've played the game, I know. Yes, it was fun for the first couple of times, but that's it. After the 4th time of jumping a ship it got repetitive. I picked up the collectibles and armors but I didn't see much reason to use them after completing the game. And guess what. I had more fun with the few assassin contracts than with the main missions. I understand why some people like it more than 3, with the big ocean and pirate theme, but that's the thing. The AC formula is almost completely gone. You said it yourself, "who wouldn't want to be a pirate." I liked Rogue a lot because it balances both naval and on foot missions. And of course, the environment was much more varied and beautiful in Rogue than in 4. I also liked the fact that they removed the ships in the later releases altogether and brought the Assassin's Creed franchise back to its roots.
+Xtreme Games Black Flag was a better game by virtue of not just being another dull AC game. Its the best pirate game in years, and you get a bonus dull AC story to play through. The worst part of that game was having to leave your ship to go work at google for 5 mins at a time.
+Xtreme Games In my opinion ac 4 is better because of the change, it felt different good and addictive in my opinion. By all means ac 3 is NOT a bad game like people say, it is really good and managed to change the game engine a wee bit not much but a wee bit in order this is how I rate them
Assassin's Creed = 4/10 boring protagonist, super repetitive and the open world did not fell open
Assassin's Creed 2 = 10/10 Super protagonist, great open world, interesting characters and it revolutionised open world games and inspired games like the batman arkham franchise
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood = 8/10 stuck with the same gameplay but it was more and that made it more fun, story could be improved, it just needed more change
Assassin's Creed Revelations = 7/10 same thing as brotherhood, better story, more cool items but it was short
Assassin's Creed 3 = 8/10 Great time period, plenty to do, navel combat, better weapons, it just needed something that I can't put my finger on it, also health system I hate it, it took away the challenge of making money to buy different armour
Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag = 10/10 Super open world, great protagonist, great characters super combat and armour system, watch mojo gave this game no 1 for best Pirate game ever so this game is a measuring point for other sea games
Assassin's Creed Rogue = 9/10 Took everything right in Black Flag improved on it, appart from the game length
Assassin's Creed Unity = 6/10 It tryed to change loads of things in the series for the better but failed to execute, it's just an above average game
Assassin's Creed Syndicate = 9/10 Improved on everything on unity and ficked it
Each game in the series have there own way of being unique (while there are problems), AC had interesting controls and the ability to climb on building's (other thing is that there were too many guards and people to get in your way, especially those that push, and holding A so you don't get noticed by guards was tedious). AC2, added swimming, money, can buy certain kinds of people for certain situations, riding a horse, introduced stats (the problem, the feather collecting, the glyph puzzles, restricted areas, using money to repair the place that you escape to, big armored enemies, and the last part of the game where you have to kill the guy that was in charge and became pope). AC Brotherhood and Revelations (I was told to skip both of those games and went towards AC 3). AC3, introduced hunting and ship missions, customizating or fixing the ship, weather and the change of seasons, mini games, the homestead, taking over the forts (the problem, optional missions, ranked enemies, takes too long to get somewhere on the map, the main character sounds emotionless, missions where your not suppose to be seen, and the way it ended). AC4, duel-wielding swords and guns, doing things you want to do with a ship, upgrades on the entire ship and changing the sail color, being able to be underwater, the ability to jump in and out of the ship with no problem, the many armor you can make and unlock, the ocean forts, finding treasure, the ship fights, fishing spots (problem: spending a lot of time for certain materials, not a good amount of good songs when traveling to places, the legendary ships, takes a while to get to the place you need to go to, being in an office out of the "animus" chair, getting attacked by sharks while underwater). Haven't gotten a chance to get AC Rogue, Unity and Syndicate. Most of these games are good on there own terms, maybe they are really good but I wouldn't call a game "perfect", because there will always be bugs and glitches, maybe some games can be as good by giving a game that people have enjoyed a decent score, like Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag an 8 out of 10 (or some could say 7.5 out of 10 because it's not about being an assassin anymore).

As somebody who is pretty much still at the start of Fallout 4, I don't think it matters. I didn't notice watching it and I couldn't tell you which clip was the 'spoiler' without rewatching the Fallout 4 bit of the video. Just seemed like a bunch of random clips.
In short: I don't think it was that spoilery, if that's what you're getting at.

If you are thinking of just watching an LP, Steam Train finished their "Pacifist" ending, and just started their "Genocide" run. Pretty good, I say get to around maybe Episode 10 or so and you'll probably decide whether or not you like it at all by then.

I used to hate undertale, but everyone seemed to love it so I decided I would buy it on steam, I loved it. trust me it will live up to the hype, just play it for yourself, or watch someone play it

Overall I've done all the runs and even saw Ross's (Steam Train) playthrough. It's just the fandom I always have second thoughts about...

i was disapointed.
I actually had the exact opposite experience between Unity and Syndicate. When I started up Unity a few months ago, I had no issues with the game. No slowdown, no glitches, and had an extremely fun time with the game. Then I got Syndicate a day or two after it released. During the tutorial, some enemies started chasing me and I wanted to just continue on. While running, the game started to chug at around 5-10 FPS and didn't fix itself until I restarted the game. This has happened numerous times.
Really wasn't expecting that #1, but I guess it isn't all that surprising. I liked the variety your list had, bunch of things on here that never made it onto other top 10s.
I just don't get the hype behind undertale. I got about halfway through and got bored of it. It's not bad but I just don't feel it does anything extremely amazing or out there. I get that its inspiration was the Mother series but thats just what it feels like, a mother fan game with its own twist. Am I missing something?

+hypersonic1337 Just get out of the Ruins, that's where the game really begins to pick up and IMO I know that the ruins _ruined_ (thanks Sans) the game for a lot of people and made them disinterested before they could progress further

Never found Undertale to be all that enjoyable. Honestly the only reason why it got popular was because of NES nostalgia. It's tedious and incredibly bland.
Actually no, it's not just for NES nostalgia. NES games are actually you know, games. Undertale is like Earthbound without the fun gameplay. So it should more be for Earthbound nostalgia, as Earthbound never appeared on the NES.

Only one of these games would make my top 10 list but everyone of the games chosen here is pretty fantastic, just goes to show how great a year we had as gamers even if we didn't realise it at the time.

I have to agree on #1. My 2015 GOTY is definitely Super Mario Maker. It is one of my favorite creative outlets, and there is literally no end to its possibilities. It's a game that simply doesn't age. It's so fun, and a great homage to the series.

That little animation of the sgs was beautiful. Seeing a good vibe, but honestly I'm not wondering if there are people out there who loved Citizens of Earth which came out early this year as a total more direct Earthbound clone. It's something I've seen not talked about since it's release.

tbh i think 2015 was one of the best years for games in a really long time, some of my favorite games came out this year (undertale, xenoblade chronicles x, bloodborne)
