Gotta love being loosely in charge of multiple Azure MIs which have transactional replication between each other as we've outgrown this architecture and there's no real alternatives...
the only number I know associated with CU numbers is T902. Adding this trace flag allows SQL to start by bypassing the CU (or GDR) update that just failed to patch SQL Server.....

10:50 I wonder if there is a way to do this by force. Like some server-level trigger/job to kill Activity Monitor queries.
