Eric. The issue that is not really brought to light. Is its not about facts. Its about disarming law abiding citizens with the emotions of dead kids that they keep letting happen with these signs “gun free school zone” its not about safety of children or the facts of the matter. Its why they want the issue to persist. They want to kill enough kids in school for everyone to have a knee jerk reaction without caring about the facts. That’s the issue. These communists don’t care about kids. There actions show otherwise. Edit: its called the Hegelian Dialectic.

I carried during higher education for 2 years in Colorado. I had no issues at all when I carried from 2016 to 2018 on campus. I worked at the Rec Center and IT department on campus and the chief of security would use the rec center. Got to talking to him and he said since "2013" I believe when students were allowed to carry, they had no issues since the change. The biggest problem he told me was a student was getting their backpack on the instructor saw the weapon and mentioned it to campus security. They found the student, pulled him aside privately, no drama, verified he was legal to carry and that was the end of it. How it should be.

    My thoughts on protecting schools:
I believe strongly in concealed carry for every adult law abiding citizen who feels safe in doing so. This includes teachers but the environment has many potential issues where students might end up taking a weapon from a teacher. A system needs to be devised to eliminate that possibility and still allow every teacher and administrator to rapidly be armed with as effective a weapon as they feel comfortable using.
Schools can be harden and it won’t cost a fortune but it will require a solid plan tailored to each school. The unused Covid money is many times what is needed. I am sure that many of us would be glad to work on a design team for nothing. Here are the high level requirements:
    1) Perimeter security to slow down and detect intruders.
    2) School-wide lockdown alarm that any teacher or administrator can trigger.
    3)Classroom response plan to:
    a) Rapidly secure doors and windows. Door design is important for strength, fast locking, visibility out/not in, countermeasure ports for pepper spray, etc.
    b) Unlock /Deploy countermeasure safe for teachers so they can repel attackers. Each classroom would have this countermeasure locker which is always locked until the lockdown alarm sounds and then can be unlocked only with a code known only by the teacher. The locker is fitted with whatever the teachers in that classroom are comfortable using and have demonstrated proficiency during training.
    c) Students go into defensive positions so they can act as a team to repel the attack if the door and the teacher fails. Students will learn the benefits of planning and teamwork as it pertains to their safety.
    4) When the police get there, a plan of attack has already been established between the police and school authorities so they can can get to the threat rapidly and eliminate it.
Or we can follow a stupid idea that disarming everyone is a real possibility. Only chaos would happen. Power hungry despots both in our government and foreign enemies are behind the disarm movement. Armed citizens are the only thing keeping us as safe as we are.

Alright, this is a pretty cool concept.
      1. Multiple barbed wire fences with metal detectors to detect/ stop/ slow down intruders. We could have snipers on the rooftops as well just in case one gets through.
      2. Very good, there could panic buttons in every classroom.
      3.
      a) Bulletproof rolling shutters rated up to .50 cal on every door and window that automatically roll down when a panic button is pressed.
      b) This is also a good idea, the locker could have rifles and handguns from 9mm to 12gauge to .50 cal. That way even the most armored of intruders could be stopped.
      c) Every classroom could be equipped with 20+ level IV shields, then teach students how to quickly assemble a Roman shield wall aka the testudo, good luck getting through that school shooters!

I've always found it astonishing that many people in our society will take significant efforts to secure their property and other valuables, even if just to give the impression of security by putting up fake security cameras, signs about being recorded, doors that need to be buzzed open, etc.
However, when it comes to our most valued and treasured assets (our kids), we put them in a place that has less armed security than my public library or county records office, and then announce to the world that certain there is a lack of safeguards (guns, other arms).
I don't put my expensive jewelry in my front window and then declare that nobody is allowed to bring rocks or metal into that area. I take every step to secure it.
My children go to a non-profit private school and the parents and students are told that over 50% of teachers and administration carry. At few years back there were rumors that a student was planning an attack. My kids even said that the student was going to do it at a party because the student was sure he would be quickly stopped.

In addition to standard active shooter drills with students involved teachers also have separate workshop, improvement, and education days for themselves worked into the sequence of the year. If you have a cross section of the faculty who has consented to carry and is allowed to do so... makes sense to have them play that role within drills that are staff focused to gauge competency, familiarity, and reactions in scenarios. Too often people vilify anyone not pro gun control... but it's a drastically different situation if a shooter enters a classroom and suddenly receives fire from an armed defender.

If they are not willing to let the school be protected then they need to find a job.
Nobody is even saying that the person would have to carry they would simply have the option.
if they get so upset over the idea of letting someone in the school protect the children then they can definitely find a new job.

Ever since my high school was attacked (luckily it failed) by an attempted pipe bomber in 2009, I've been saying that properly trained teachers/school staff should have the ability to carry and/or keep firearms on campus and it would not only stop attacks on schools extremely faster, it would also send a message that would make those campuses are willing to fight back which would in itself be a huge deterrent to any potential attacks in the future to begin with. I went to school in the San Francisco Bay Area so naturally I was in an extremely liberal, anti-gun environment to begin with. When the school opened back up and the teachers opened the subject of what happened and what could be done in the future for discussion... when I, a very prominent and vocal pro 2a individual already, proposed such ideas and concepts of armed staff... you know what I was met with? Extreme ridicule from my teacher and some students (others supported what I said too as well) but not only that, my teacher felt so "uncomfortable" with this proposal and my persistence on the subject the following years that she literally got a legal on campus restraining order on me eventually. She felt that I was somehow "threatening her" or some shit. I never got a clear direct answer as to why, but that's how she felt. It's sad but it is what it is. Also just wanna throw this out there, a sick evil individual that wants to carry out a mass casualty attack on a school or anywhere does not need a gun to do it. Perfect example was the attack on my school with pipe bombs that luckily failed. The attacker also had a number of knives, a machete and a chainsaw with him as well. His plan was to throw the bombs into classrooms and put door wedges on the outside of the doors so no one could open them and then go all Jason Voorhees-Texas Chainsaw Massacre on anyone that stood in his path.
