They are only witnesses just like us and reflect/exist only in the lead characters' minds, just like OMG, Ditto and CWY. It's all reference to the real ETA event, as you see. Eva was a victim of the ETA and she had a short hair same as the feature of the girl. I think they were referencing the ETA event but in an opposite way where the EVA who become a victim indeed revenge of the ones who killed her. I read the whole ETA event after watching this and yep they indeed reference the story. Here's the things they reference The night of September 1 where the car drove and a cloth was found hanging in the trunk supposedly the dead Eva (in this case, they flip it into Maria and Mikel who were the two lovers who end Eva originally) Eva had a short hair and she was a journalist, in the mv, they reference the same thing In the story, it was said that there were cops who sabotage the whole scene to hide the fact they had Eva and others. In order for Ador to not had a backlash, they made it into someone helping Eva to end Mikel and Maria. So in other words, they reference the actual ETA incident in the perspective of EVA if she survived and avenge against them

Agree with your interpretation. Part of the lyric says " Now where are you?". There are many ways to interpret this: where is Eva when her boy is cheating, or where are NewJeans her imaginary friends, or even where is the boy and the girl who are cheating on Eva.

I had a slightly different take to this. The boy is not cheating on Eva.. This is someone who Eva has just become obsessed with. Maybe through a one night stand or small fling which is now over. Maybe through nothing at all.. thats why the boy or girl never notice her as they dont even know who she is. Eva clearly is not right in the head displaying pschopathic tendencies/thoughts... maybe even suffering from some form of scizhophrenia. New Jeans are not there they exist in Evas head perhaps part of her subcontious playing an angel and devil role... need a boy on my arm being the angel saying dont do it and lose the boy on her arm playing the devil side saying get rid of him(Stage peromances of this song have them wearing white and black angel wings also). If Eva is Schizo then new jeans could even be representing evas multiple personalities. Eva does run them over. Them still being alive and looking at her after the initial incident again is her mind playing tricks on her... its the first time in the entire video where the boy even looks at her... its because in her head shes thinking omg what have i just done.. its her guilt making her mind see this.

Regardless of people not wanting to accept that 😭 it’s simply a story and I don’t think it’s promoting anything but Eva definitely killed them. His shirt sticking out of the trunk would not have been a singular focal shot had that not wanted us to piece 2 + 2 together. Everything else seems on par but Eva definitely did run them over 😭😭😭
