Great commentary and explaination. I always think that this mv signifies the tale of Psyche and Cupid with a bit of twist. So, Hoyeon is Cupid (or at least one of em), she is a matchmaker god that destine to reunite loves. But as we can observed, her powers simply make people love through lust and not soulmate type (if you know what I mean). This could reflects today's generation love style who only based on flings and quick love We can see that Cupid Hoyeon was bored with her job, i think that's why her power works that way. She doesn't truly understand essence of True Love. Then, she stumbles acrosd the artwork that depicts Psyche and Cupid. Intrigued by it, she also met Micol, who suddenly she felt attracts to. This may due to her status as Cupid, sensing that Micol has profound understanding of love since he is an artist who appreciates art and stuff. Thus, the stalking and walking operation begins. She clearly want to know what is like to have clear understanding of true love, at least in Micol's pov. This is where NJ intervene. Some say they are Morai (The Greek Goddess of Fates) and other believe that they are Muses (Goddess of Inspiration). I mean why not said that they are both. Since they retelling the stories, they also observed how Hoyeon start to fall in love with a human, ignoring her jobs (showing when she doesn't use her power to matchmakee Micol and the girl in the elevator). I do agree that they somehow betray her, but NJ also subtly warned her (We see Hanni at the restaurant, Minji in bus stop and NJ in rooftop). They are trying to warn her that she should not neglect her job and the Gods will not be happy with this. During the rain scene when she stripped naked, i believe that she is stripping her "godhood" and become mortal so that Micol and her can be together and she doesn't turn invisible And so yeah, since Hoyeon doesn't have power no more, she clearly chase Micol and falls in love with him naturally, without any divine intervention As the dating goes bla bla , she finally understand again what love means and she appreciates it . In the crosswalk scene where we finally met Tony ( i think He is the OG cupid) erase Micol's memories of Hoyeon and make him love someone else, i see this as a form of punishment and lesson for Hoyeon. Tony Cupid want to teach Hoyeon that her action has consequences and maybe toxic encourage her to take back the mantle as Cupid. So yeah we see that Hoyeon be sad and everything (My girl deserved better). Fast forward to the last museum scene, we see that Hoyeon watch Nj dance in front of the artpiece, signifying that NJ tried to tell Hoyeon that not every tale has a happy ending and sometimes love would only be a trouble than a solution. Disappointed by this , Hoyeon leaves the museum. I like to think that the ending said Hoyeon get her Cupid powers back but now she sees love in different angle. Not just something to play around, but something to cherish. This csn be shown by portrayal of her outfits (from black to warm colours)

I made another theory So basically its about the story of Adam and , where God told them not to eat the forbidden fruit and the snake told Eve to eat it, and Eve told Adam about it. So here comes “off the record” meaning: “Off the record night, this late night conversation” So the conversation is Eve seducing Adam to eat the forbidden fruit. In the m/v Won young saying “Seek forbidden island, forbidden fruit, forbidden things are the most tempting” its all part of the conversation. Then yujin says “remove your innocence mask, reveal your darkest desires” - again, seducing us to eat the fruit. Im the beginning liz says “Sometimes i have ridiculous thoughts” yes, its the thoughts after the snake told Eve that when you eat the forbidden fruit they will be smart like god , knowing the difference between good and evil. So thats is her ridiculous thoughts. pre chorus: “Now we are in private mode” Basically Adam and Eve was hiding from god because they knew he would get mad if he caught them… this is why at the end you can see Leeseo checking if nobody is watching… Don’t believe yet? Wonyoung: “breathtaking trailer, with a huge plot twist” and “romantican psycho” What is the plot twist? That the snake LIED, god told them that because they ate the fruit, they will not be immortals, and will suffer a lot of stuff, thats the twist.. and “romantican psycho” refers to Eve… After doing all of that… And after that it goes to the part where Rei shoot the tree, and then all of the fruit is falling off then you see Ive dancing and being happy - its a metaphor of what will happen after you eat the fruit - but don’t forget its all a lie. This whole song is “seducing” us, the listeners to seek for the forbidden stuff… I hope you understand what i was trying to explain, its really interesting And another edition of why there was an earthquake in wonyoumg part that broke the glads i think it refers to where god was searching for Adam and even so its like a warning or something, its kinda make sense Now a big summary: They are trying to tempt you, same as the Adam and Eve story,they will try to seduce and convince you to eat the forbidden fruit, they will tell you its good , they will show signs, this is Why they are hiding and its so secret… thanks for reading lol

I had a slightly different take to this. The boy is not cheating on Eva.. This is someone who Eva has just become obsessed with. Maybe through a one night stand or small fling which is now over. Maybe through nothing at all.. thats why the boy or girl never notice her as they dont even know who she is. Eva clearly is not right in the head displaying pschopathic tendencies/thoughts... maybe even suffering from some form of scizhophrenia. New Jeans are not there they exist in Evas head perhaps part of her subcontious playing an angel and devil role... need a boy on my arm being the angel saying dont do it and lose the boy on her arm playing the devil side saying get rid of him(Stage peromances of this song have them wearing white and black angel wings also). If Eva is Schizo then new jeans could even be representing evas multiple personalities. Eva does run them over. Them still being alive and looking at her after the initial incident again is her mind playing tricks on her... its the first time in the entire video where the boy even looks at her... its because in her head shes thinking omg what have i just done.. its her guilt making her mind see this.

Thank you for explaining the hidden meanings of this song. I think these themes are definitely what these girls are about but let's not forget they didn't write these lyrics their company did and they are simply the actors (very good ones of course). With that being said, these lyrics do fit their concept as a girl group of female teen and young adult power and empowerment (being badass etc). However, this song does come across as a matriarchy concept due to the way the girls talk about guys and about taking control and making boys do what girls want - it is a reversal of a patriarchy in that sense. Since the patriarchy we live in is bad this song unintentionally shows that even a matriarchy can be just as bad when women let power corrupt them.

Its pretty obvious. The styling (harvey, jurin teeth, hinatas hair). The lyrics talking about basically manipulating while the creatures (men) in white costumes are bowing down to them, i think its flipped because it used to be women doing it to men, now women are taking their power back. Song is about becoming free from being the puppets/becoming puppet masters.
