    Does the thought of winter camping make you wish for snow?

      Thanks for watching! It's so difficult to capture the true beauty of the woods in winter but we are happy to keep trying! ❄️

    I can practically taste those pancakes...I used to have them for breakfast at my job cafeteria.

      Isn't it strange how sense memories can be triggered like that? Not sure we'd want to eat them on camping trips if they reminded us of work though!

    Looks like you're inside a living Christmas card, The snow is so beautiful!
    Is your fajita pan one of those Anolon X pans? If so, how do you like how it cooks?

      It really was that perfect fluffy Christmas movie snow! So glad we were able to enjoy it.
      Our pan is the GSI Glacier stainless 10". We bought it at REI last minute the day before a camping trip and it has worked well for us considering the lack of forethought.

      For this trip we were in Western New York, not too far from Buffalo. It was a beautiful area and the snow really added charm!

    To be safe when hiking you should always carry a small pack with emergency blankets and fire starter and first aid kit

      So true Mary! We keep some essentials in a fanny pack on shorter hikes but usually take at least one backpack with safety items as well. Safety is so important during winter hiking!

      Don't worry. They only hiked a short distance. They said so. I'm thinking less than 10 minutes. If they get cold they can go back to the car. I think most of these videos operate like that

    awesome!
    beautiful slow-motion sawing
    When it is cold, but sunny there is often melting
    Are snowshoes on the agenda? maybe gaiters?

    • @theamazingoutdoors
      @theamazingoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We honestly were not expecting the now to be as deep as it was as the forecast had only called for a couple inches at most. Snowshoes weren't really necessary for this trip but if the snow is any deeper they'd definitely help!

      I didn't think you needed them (though packing snow for the tent it would have helped) Rangers in the Adks recommend snowshoes, microspikes or skis in the winter because of changing weather (but mostly elevation changes)

  • @spacecoyote6646
    @spacecoyote6646 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Instead of gathering firewood why didn't you get it ahead of time. It would have only been a 20-minute trip back to your car and fill the sled full of wood and bring it back. Then you'd have plenty for the stove and you can have a nice big bonfire

    • @theamazingoutdoors
      @theamazingoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many forests do not allow firewood to be brought in as it increases the risk for introducing invasive plant and insect species, even in winter. Certainly would have been easier but gathering firewood can also be part of the fun!

      @terriprobst4680 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think collecting your own firewood would be part of the fun and a great experience if you ever find yourself in an emergency situation then you would know what to do and how to get a fire going to help save yourself .

    I just don’t get why anyone would go camping in the snow with a tent that had no floor or at least bring a a tarp your sleeping in a ice box with a snowy ground just curious can’t take off your shoes

    • @theamazingoutdoors
      @theamazingoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The heat of the stove makes having a floor for the tent impractical. It may be difficult to see but we have reflectix and foam core under our sleeping pads as a barrier and heating solution and that is also what we sat on. We also have booties that we change into when in the tent that work to both keep our feet toasty and allow us to comfortably step on the ground. By morning of day two most of the snow had melted away and the ground was fairly dry. Had there been a tarp or tent floor down we would have been on top of a giant puddle. Many winter campers choose to put boughs down as flooring. This is essentially breathable allowing the snow and water to drain effectively.
      Thanks for the questions!

    It seemed Overexposed and the music didn't fit the action or the story

    • @theamazingoutdoors
      @theamazingoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback! The camera settings were incorrect on day one and we didn't realize. Will definitely work on choosing better music!
