I saw some depressing interviews on the BBC regarding Kursk where Russian civilians were asking “why is this happening to us? We just want to live in peace.” Apparently completely oblivious to the fact their country repeatedly invaded Ukraine and has completely demolished many Ukrainian cities. I wonder if it is even possible for Russian society to realise they are the aggressors here.

To create internal pressure against the Putin dictatorship, Russians in Moscow and State Petersburg need to feel concerned or threatened. Else, those Russians in big cities just watch the news, much detached from events. Russian aggression will persist so long as middle class Russians are pumped-up nationalism and are deluded in the faux belief Russia is world power like the old Soviet Union.

Most Russians aren't wondering that because Putin's administration had a strategy for who to conscript first: Men from rural areas. Places with a low population density. Next, they started incentivizing "volunteers" from prisons. If they start conscripting city boys, more people will notice.

There is still YT in Russia (pretty sure) and many do learn English in Russia, especially if younger.
And most Russians are well aware their government lies. A few months back there was a rumor that more people needed a home security system in part of Russia, which the government eventually publicly denied ….leading to a huge spike in home security equipment sales. Many consider a government denial as confirmation.

10:30 More psychology, this time from me - If the people and oligarchs see that Putin can be beaten on the battlefield, they might think he can be beated in Russia.

Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has encountered substantial criticism for his actions concerning the invasion of Ukraine. Many analysts argue that this military aggression signifies a profound disregard for international norms and the welfare of both Ukrainian and Russian citizens. Critics assert that Putin's decisions are primarily motivated by a desire to consolidate power and bolster national pride, often at the expense of human rights and regional stability.
This situation has generated widespread global concern regarding the implications for democracy, security, and humanitarian principles. Furthermore, there is a prevailing view that Putin has underestimated the resilience and leadership of Ukraine, which has demonstrated significant resolve in the face of adversity. This miscalculation may have far-reaching consequences, not only for the immediate conflict but also for the broader geopolitical landscape.

The potential consequences for President Vladimir Putin should he choose to invade another country would likely be multifaceted and severe, encompassing diplomatic, economic, and military dimensions.
      1. **Diplomatic Isolation**: An invasion would likely lead to significant diplomatic repercussions. The international community, particularly Western nations and international organizations such as the United Nations, would likely condemn such actions. This could result in Russia facing increased isolation, with diminished participation in international forums and decreased bilateral relations with numerous countries.
      2. **Economic Sanctions**: Historically, military aggression has prompted the imposition of stringent economic sanctions. In the event of a new invasion, Russia could face a comprehensive package of sanctions targeting key sectors of its economy, including banking, energy, and trade. These measures could exacerbate existing economic challenges and lead to significant financial strain.
      3. **Military Response**: Depending on the scale and nature of the invasion, there could be a military response from NATO or other regional defense alliances. This could range from increased military presence in adjacent countries to direct military engagement, thereby escalating tensions and potentially leading to broader conflict.
      4. **Internal Unrest**: An invasion and the resultant international backlash could provoke internal dissent within Russia. Public opinion may shift, particularly if the conflict leads to significant casualties or economic hardship. This could result in protests and increased scrutiny of the government's actions.
      5. **Impact on Global Stability**: Such an act of aggression could destabilize not only the region in question but also broader international relations. It may lead to a reevaluation of security policies by neighboring countries, increased military spending, and a general climate of insecurity.
In conclusion, the decision to invade another country carries profound implications for Russia, affecting its international standing, economic stability, and internal cohesion. The international community’s response would likely be swift and multifaceted, aimed at deterring further aggression and restoring stability.
