2:56 “god" is nonexistent. If he was he wouldn’t force you to overwork your braiNpower & body to iNteract with him, religion, & religious traditions; & he wouldn`t allow you to step on piles of ants daily🧠🐜
150 billion animals are slaughtered worldwide annually for food, fashion, & profit; As of 2021 there are 500,000+ homeless Americans effectiNg a miNimum of 500k family members; Many people have been falsely accused, outcasted, &/or murdered for “witchcraft”; Suicide bombiNgs have happened due to religion. If you played "because I got high" or "colt 45" at any house party in the early 2000s the entire crowd would go wild, that's how you know you are involved in something special. It doesn't matter if afroman has only 2 songs that people really know of, it's about what he represents just as much as the music, the time, the era, the weed, the nostalgia. I'm happy he's still alive and doing well in 2022. It's a tough world out there especially these days.

My son turned me on to this song when he was twelve, and I laughed my butt off!
Now my son is 31 and we often smoke a few bowls after dinner while watching Star Trek reruns. Back then, neither of us smoked the "Devil's Lettuce", but when I found that it reduces the pain of trigeminal neuralgia, the very painful neurological disease I have, then I started medicating with it.
Back in 2004 when my pain was off the charts, my doctor prescribed Fentanyl patch to control the pain, but that crap made me very sick. I've been prescribed anti-seizure meds that affected my memory and ability to function so adversely that I forgot how to drive a car or operate common tools. One drug caused severe allergic reaction where I had blisters all over me.
Cannabis affects memory, but nothing like the pharmaceuticals do.
My disease is a brain disorder that is related to epileptic seizures. Cannabis has proven to be an effective treatment for epilepsy. It seems to prevent most seizures from occurring or lessens the severity.
It gave me my life back!
A friend in Texas has a young daughter who is epileptic. Her seizures were so severe and frequent the poor little girl had to stop attending school. My friend read about a girl in Colorado whose epilepsy was very similar to her daughters. This girl was treated by a special strain of cannabis called Charlotte's Web, which is high-cannabidiol, low-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and doesn't make one "high" like traditional weed since it's low in THC. It's a CBD product made from hemp.
Of course, living in Texas she couldn't buy this medicine for her daughter even though it's CBD. Her daughter had a severe seizure that put her in the hospital and nearly ended her, and that was the last straw. My friend decided to move to Colorado to save her baby girl! It's working very well, and she's now attending public school, making good grades and lots of friends.

I was a 10 year old boy when I heard because I got high for the first time. I was on holiday with some family friends on the wild coast of South Africa (where smoking marijuana is a very popular past time). I just remember one evening after a braai (barbecue) and lots of drinking all the adults really enjoying and laughing at this song. Us kids laughed as well, not knowing what its all about but just seeing the joy around this song I always remember that positive memory. Because I got high travelled with me through my later university years when I started experimenting with marijuana, particularly in my post grad years. It has and will always be a positive and uplifting piece of music to me. Thanks Afroman.

I used to listen to this when I was still straight edge. It's just a song that helps you deal with stuff, it's upbeat against adversity. It's inherently adverse, it's doing something that is illegal(was illegal back then still is lots of places)to deal with life's problems. Future generations wont remember what it was like, the shame and risk it used to be to go to a party, or meet new people, and navigate around smoking. Hide behind the shed, hope you don't ask the wrong person who calls the cops, hope you don't get judged. That culture will be lost on future generations. Just getting green back in the day was dangerous. And I was a misanthrope(without it), so I had to be social and ask people for help getting something illegal. It was rough, songs like this just made it fun. made you feel more comfortable. Playing a song like this used to be a small protest, with a great beat. Still love this song. Had no idea he was such a good singer either.

I found an article online from NME by Luke Morgan Britton, describing "Afroman, real name Joseph Edgar Foreman, was playing guitar onstage when a woman approached him from behind and danced against him, at which point he turned around and punched her with his right hand.". Not saying that he should've punched her, but I think it's reasonable to speculate maybe Afroman didn't know who just came up behind and started grabbing him, and reacted swiftly.
I'm not trying to ride Afroman's dick, but don't make it seem like it's something it's not. Also, its a pretty well known fact as a fan you don't just jump on stage cause you feel like it. People who, uninvitationally, go on stage during a show usually get roughed up because how are people suppose to know if this random person is a mega-fan or someone trying to hurt them for clout or publicity (xxxtentacion, Pantera, Ski Mask, and I assume others have had the latter happen to them)

"How many hits do you need?" Just one and your whole life will change.
Groups are explored because of only one hit song and are gossiped about as to why their other songs that were better that didn't make it. Afro, if you see this ever, just know two of your songs are constantly played in my area. You were never forgotten about, radio is a shame and always will be a puppet to guide the masses.

Sounds like you're a graduate of 99-04 HS Era 5oo?
There's a lot of really neat things these days... new music, cool tech, some musics even showed me how silly and aggressive so much music was in the years 00-10, and how even in sea of shitty pop music that we loved to hate, there were still some gems that have stood the test of time...
... but man... something about graduating prior to 2005 was just cool and comfortable in a way that doesn't exist anymore. Those formative years right in the height of the 90s, when the horizon was wide open, everything was looking up, tech seemed hopeful more than today's scammy conflict filled echo-chambers and insta-(role)models...
Napster making things feel at our fingers... Google just starting to make its name and sticking to "don't be evil"... a weird time between house phones and pocket workstations.
The best of the 90s, and the first to never see the adult political, media, economic, social world not having been rocked by 9/11. I'd love to know about people's formative years and HS from all time periods, but the only ones I'm a little jealous of are those who graduated between 96-2000, who got to see the real world before 9/11 reconfigured everything

Man! This was produced so well. This man has such big energy! He's been working with and putting on a lot of independent artists. We got to perform with him on his 'Smokelahoma Tour'.. his passion for what he does is inspirational. He really is every bit of this irl. Much respect!!!

THIS WAS THE BEST SONG all of my secondary school years lol. We used 'ah because I got high' as a running joke for everything. 😆

I’m surprised a lot of people still don’t know that thc edibles are legal in every state already. Congress redefined the amount of thc allowed in edibles to be based off the total weight of the product and not the total thc content. You can legally get edibles with the same amount of thc that dispensaries are allowed to sell in almost any state. Recreational8 has a full list of where it's legal but it's just about every state.
