The rot and walk away while they die reminds me of a habit I developed playing Lies of P. In it you can get a gun that does a delayed explosion. Every boss in the game I used that for the last hit, then did a prayer emote mourning their death while they charged at me and the explosion killed them
we did it boys, we converted him, by lying about the spell being bad his contrarian nature has forced him to say that it's good, victory for spell enjoyers everywhere
the butterfly spell *was* pretty underwhelming in its range and tick speed, then it got buffed substantially in 1.13! and now it's really fun! as for romina's poleblade it doesn't scale its status but it still has that tasty, nutritious lorreta war sickle movset so it's never gonna be *bad* in pve. just wish we got some cool centipede lady armor, but as is romina drops some cool toys :)
Yeah, we really would have deserved SOME insectoid armor to go with this. Just a shame. Maybe the Convergence Mod crew will come up with some shite. Hell, import some Monster Hunter armor, if must be. Would have been so cool to have a compatible outfit.
Should have brought back the butterfly armor from DS2, just some insect looking armor that passively (albeit slowly) builds rot in a small AOE around the player. Could be neat.
I used to keep your videos on in the background because I loved your random “I think you should leave” memes, but damn man. You’ve slowly converted me to an addict. I like your humor and wit, and the media literacy checks are always spot on. Thank you, one hundred times. Keep it up
I bought a pocket pie from the corner store for breakfast this morning, bit into it and saw the applies inside were moldy, and finished it anyway to show solidarity with the Romina vid.
Honestly the butterflies are good just because they give the Extra Good Rot, and Extra Good Rot is pretty limited in what applies it. It's generally worse than the rot breath or hefty rot pots, but it's still Extra Good Rot. You can't make Extra Good Rot bad because it's basically a free 30% of the enemy's health
You have no idea the sheer vindication I feel seeing you enjoy this build cause I really like Romina's Poleblade, and the Butterfly spell too, to the point I even made a Rotten Monk Build using all the Pest Incants, and the poleblade, +marital arts with the Poisoned Flower Blooms Twice Ash of War which is imo INSANE!!! It masively chunks health if you hit an enemy who is rotted and or poisoned, it gets rid of the status on them, but does insane damage
I genuinely had such a fantastic time doing a Rotten Butterflies-only challenge run, I’m so glad Phil is a fan too!!! With enough FTH/ARC investment it can actually do really respectable damage, and when you’re not limited to the cosplay appearance you can wear some pretty heavy armor to reduce the damage you take while casting by a TON. The only time I needed to cheat was giving myself a ton of extra levels at the end to beat the Elden Beast, but that was mainly due to not having enough FP Regardless, this run makes me very happy :)
I hate how habitual has become the moment when I'm telling myself something will definitely work a lil pop up window with Walton Goggins pops up in my head and tells me "I DOUBT IT. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW... "
Watching Tulok have a mental breakdown live on stream realizing that he liked the funni butterfly spell was like. The funniest thing I've seen in an extremely long time
Really cool run. It was really fun watching you having so much fun on a run again. It's too bad we didn't get some cool magenta carapace armor for Romina, would have really completed the whole aesthetic.
You coin a term because Koin was a type of greek that everyone spoke for trade around the Mediterranean around 0 AD. It's like real life Common. So adding something to the universal language is adding it to Koin. Coined a term.
Came back to finish the video on my work break, and so glad I did. I'm so happy to see Phil having a good time with a build again. I only hope there's a few more out there
Really liked the teasers in the other video, made me enjoy this one even more... And yeah, the rule of cool is always the best. People forgot we peaked in ds2 because of immaculate and diverse fashion souls.
Yup. Dems ran as the Stasis party when everyone feels their futures being strangled. Even someone promising to do horrible things sounds better than someone promising to do nothing when you feel trapped. So now the entire world loses because liberals can't understand that people want things to be better.
So happy to hear Phil super stoked for a build. Also brownie points because I also have never heard anything good about this kit, and now I’m like well hell, looks like fun.
At first I expected the title to be completely sarcastic, but to be honest, seeing you have so much fun and enjoying a spell on a build for once is way more entertaining than any sarcastic joke you could have made.
i drop-in every now and then just to see if you're still super handsome and yup, as ever, yup. but its also nice to see you're doing better and getting some monies! :D hope y'all doing well!
17:03 thematic builds > OP builds. I have 17 characters now all themeatic. My favorites by far are my anime character builds like Escanor, Killua, Master Roshi, and Zuko where I'm limited in my choices. Sometimes they still come out OP. But sometimes they come out fairly weak. Way more fun than 1 shot builds or tedious challenge runs. Time to make a butterfly build when I get the DLC 😂😂 Shinobu Kocho it is.
Themes are definitely more fun. I always decide on a theme before starting any run because it just makes the run that much more enjoyable. It doesn't matter if I'm doing insane damage as long as it's not dog water
@paracame8162 exactly. Plus I end up not knowing what I want to do if I don't have a theme. Can't be wishy washy. Gotta pick a build when you cap at 150 lol
I literally love rotten butterflies so much Its so good at getting rot going, im okay with taking a hit for disintegrating at least 15% of a boss health bar
19 Seconds Ago, Tulok, Let's see a wonderful video, like normal. After watching, can confirm, amazing video, you were so gleeful with the flies, Tulok, Amazing job.
If you're not too burnt out on Elden Ring already, you could totally play builds that you think would be very fun to play instead of following a format. I know I speak for a lot of my fellow Tulok & Mango fans when I say that we like seeing you have fun, so it would be great to have a series where you play builds you create just to have fun
I remember finding the channel somewhere around the Saitama run before I fell in love with your content. It's really nice seeing you enjoy a run visibly
I love how the start up of cast of the spell looks exactly like the lebron dunk meme Also loved that you had so much fun, the passion really shines through
Learned this fairly recently but Yo Gabba Gabba was created by Christian Jacobs, also known as his stage persona MC Bat Commander as lead singer of the ska band The Aquabats, along with Scott Schultz who is also a long time collaborator with the band.
Edit after actually finishing the video: the joy in this run is so fun lol pretty pink magic supremacy 💖 *some quip about being late to the party* I was trying to be creative then I saw my comment on the screen and my brain stopped
For anyone interested: Coin: Middle English: from Old French coin ‘wedge, corner, die’, coigner ‘to mint’, from Latin cuneus ‘wedge’. The original sense was ‘cornerstone’, later ‘angle or wedge’ (senses now spelled quoin); in late Middle English the term denoted a die for stamping money, or a piece of money produced by such a die. "The phrase “to coin a phrase” is thought to have originated in the 14th century, when the verb “to coin” meant to create or invent something. In the 16th century, the phrase began to be used more specifically to refer to the creation of new words or phrases. It is believed to be a variation of the phrase “to invent a word,” which was used in the 15th century."
I've had the Poleblade of the Bud in my kit since I first got it on my way through the DLC. It may not be the quickest or best to proc rot, but it's damn fun to use. Glad to see it finally getting the glow-up it deserves! Also, huge missed opportunity to use The Presidents of the United States of America's song "Bug City" somewhere in the video.
I don’t know if it’s because you’ve been expanding to other games or just because you like the butterflies so much but it’s really nice to see you enjoying the game so much after seeming to get kinda burnt out
20:35 as a certified spell enjoyer, I can agree with your criticisms on spells (it is quite annoying how much work/ prep a spells run is) but i draw the line at Runts slander!
Context for people who don't have a work computer: Maggot therapy is a method of treating wounds that has the purpose of keeping those wounds clean and preventing infection. Essentially, it comes down to placing the maggots belonging to certain fly species around the wound and they'll eat the dead tissue there which means that tissue won't rot inside the wound and attract harmful bacteria. To be clear, it's not applicable on every type of wound and you really need to make sure that the maggots are nice and clean, and not every species of fly is usable either, it needs to be one of the species that feed on dead tissue (there's also some parasitic fly species that feed on living tissue instead). Also, I don't recommend looking it up on wikipedia if you've just had lunch, else the lunch in question may feel compelled to depart from where you put it.
Does anyone know what the hell the “I doubt it… but you never know” thing is from??? It’s been bugging me for so long Edit: oh my god it’s from Walton goggins in righteous gemstones
The Sunflower actually takes 66% less damage if hit in the stem, but i think it's even more resistant to status effects (ones it isn't immune to) and stance damage.. probably about 70 or 80%
The halberd is actually good, tho. It scales arcane pretty nicely, and has the nice fancy halberd moveset, even if the ash skill isn't up to snuff (in pvp) And on the subject of askes, you could use the spiral stinger kick move. It isn't given to you by fighting her, but it is 100% a move she uses against you, which bursts big big damage if used against someone who is poisoned/rotted.
The Butterflies got a lot better in patch 1.13. Before that, they were pretty bad, and I think that's generally where most of the sentiment against them comes from. But 1.13. improved the range, rot build-up and shortened the intervall inbetween damage tics.

I'm so happy you had fun with this build!
I remember when this video came out 3 minutes ago. That was a good Thursday. I’ll have to keep coming back to relive this memory
The pure euphoric feeling of hearing a happy phil is insurmountable
The most excited I’ve heard Tulok before😭😭
One must imagine Tulok happy.
The rot and walk away while they die reminds me of a habit I developed playing Lies of P. In it you can get a gun that does a delayed explosion. Every boss in the game I used that for the last hit, then did a prayer emote mourning their death while they charged at me and the explosion killed them
Sounds kinds like Nero's level 3 charged shot from dmc 4/5.
Anime as fuck
I am SO FUCKING HAPPY that Tulok enjoyed the butterflies
we did it boys, we converted him, by lying about the spell being bad his contrarian nature has forced him to say that it's good, victory for spell enjoyers everywhere
the butterfly spell *was* pretty underwhelming in its range and tick speed, then it got buffed substantially in 1.13! and now it's really fun!
as for romina's poleblade it doesn't scale its status but it still has that tasty, nutritious lorreta war sickle movset so it's never gonna be *bad* in pve.

Yah that'd be great, atleast we have an ant shield but armor would be sick to complete the look.
Should have brought back the butterfly armor from DS2, just some insect looking armor that passively (albeit slowly) builds rot in a small AOE around the player. Could be neat.
Also good in pvp for the true combo, pair it with an offhand dagger if you want I guess, the R2 is somewhat usable thanks to the buff to uncharged R2s
I used to keep your videos on in the background because I loved your random “I think you should leave” memes, but damn man. You’ve slowly converted me to an addict. I like your humor and wit, and the media literacy checks are always spot on.
Thank you, one hundred times. Keep it up
This as well! I’m a big fan of tim robinson so it’s funny to see in Elden Ring videos. tulok’s format is unmatched
I bought a pocket pie from the corner store for breakfast this morning, bit into it and saw the applies inside were moldy, and finished it anyway to show solidarity with the Romina vid.
You’re a real one. I shit my pants on my drive home from work the other day if it’s any consolation.
I wana see December as "Phil revisits his favorite builds pre-Shadpw of the erdtree to see if they are still good"
Let's call it Breakcember
It’s good to see the man laugh.
And then Phil became a spell enjoyer and everyone was happy.
You know
I wasn't expecting to hear "Red Flags" on this video
But I'm glad I got to
Tulok casually flexing that he does not wake up with back pain :( good for him
0:58 Look ma! That’s me!
That laugh once he found out he couldn't be grappled is gold *Butterflies For The Win*
In this video, Tulok experiences joy and whimsy.

Watching Tulok have a mental breakdown live on stream realizing that he liked the funni butterfly spell was like. The funniest thing I've seen in an extremely long time
Seeing tulok having fun with this build is the highlight of my year.
I play light load builds. They are definitely very fun
Really cool run. It was really fun watching you having so much fun on a run again. It's too bad we didn't get some cool magenta carapace armor for Romina, would have really completed the whole aesthetic.
It's fun to see you have fun 🎉
So happy to see you having fun on a run :)
You coin a term because Koin was a type of greek that everyone spoke for trade around the Mediterranean around 0 AD. It's like real life Common. So adding something to the universal language is adding it to Koin. Coined a term.
Im so happy tulok had proper fun with a run for once
Best Creators Ever!! Thanks for Killin' it!!
Came back to finish the video on my work break, and so glad I did.
I'm so happy to see Phil having a good time with a build again. I only hope there's a few more out there
Good to see Phil having fun on a run
Man, it's nice to hear you genuinely enjoying yourself with this one! Also, Magical Girl Romina build doing well makes me happy in general!
13:52 That laugh is golden
It's always sunny and pink Pony girl references in the beginning of the video. You got my like lol
It legit made me tear up to hear the joy in your voice about this build, love it that you loved it, great video
Really liked the teasers in the other video, made me enjoy this one even more...
And yeah, the rule of cool is always the best. People forgot we peaked in ds2 because of immaculate and diverse fashion souls.
That was probably the best For Lands ever

5:30 this shot better not awaken anything in me
At first I expected the title to be completely sarcastic, but to be honest, seeing you have so much fun and enjoying a spell on a build for once is way more entertaining than any sarcastic joke you could have made.
I love when he finally has fun
It's really great to see Phil playing Bugsnax again
Thank you for teaching me about maggot therapy, the Wikipedia illustration was hard to stomach but I learned something really interesting today.
We use leeches for legitimate medical procedures these days too.
Tulok: I'm crouching so I don't hit the top of the frame.
Me: I thought you were just really sad from the run😂😂😂
i drop-in every now and then just to see if you're still super handsome and yup, as ever, yup. but its also nice to see you're doing better and getting some monies! :D
hope y'all doing well!
I did not know you lived in Minnesota! That automatically gets you +100 cool streamer points on my work computer. (I also live in Minnesota.)
So much fun seeing Phil enjoy a run!!!

I love how the start up of cast of the spell looks exactly like the lebron dunk meme
Also loved that you had so much fun, the passion really shines through
The “I hope you’re having a weird dream” joke got me right the giggle spot
Learned this fairly recently but Yo Gabba Gabba was created by Christian Jacobs, also known as his stage persona MC Bat Commander as lead singer of the ska band The Aquabats, along with Scott Schultz who is also a long time collaborator with the band.
Tulok Tuesday is better than taco Tuesday
Incredible legendary spell praise coming from Tulok here!
Edit after actually finishing the video: the joy in this run is so fun lol pretty pink magic supremacy 💖
*some quip about being late to the party* I was trying to be creative then I saw my comment on the screen and my brain stopped
I just wanna chill and game tulok tbh he’s got such a homie energy
Tulok having fun and being happy makes me happy lol

Loved the butterflies since day one
well day like 4 since it took me forever to get to Romina the first time
I've had the Poleblade of the Bud in my kit since I first got it on my way through the DLC. It may not be the quickest or best to proc rot, but it's damn fun to use. Glad to see it finally getting the glow-up it deserves! Also, huge missed opportunity to use The Presidents of the United States of America's song "Bug City" somewhere in the video.
FINALLY you get to do one of the weird fun ones!
13:47 so proud of you phil
Always love the Flight of the Conchords stuff ❤ can’t wait for the Kingdom Hearts video. It’s on my shortlist.
I've been watching you for years and I haven't heard you get that giddy ever. I'll have to try the spell sometime
I don’t know if it’s because you’ve been expanding to other games or just because you like the butterflies so much but it’s really nice to see you enjoying the game so much after seeming to get kinda burnt out
Blessing of Despair it seems, huh?
The best runs are when Phil has fun! I have fun when you have fun! ❤
Ah man, Minnesota truly bringing some of the best people. Tulok, Doomtree, Eyedea.. Good shit.
We love to see Phil having a good time with a run 🙏
20:35 as a certified spell enjoyer, I can agree with your criticisms on spells (it is quite annoying how much work/ prep a spells run is) but i draw the line at Runts slander!
love the intro and infomercial by the yellow wiggle
This was such a delightful video, best spell amd spirit ashe in the game
I listen to you and The Backlogs because you guys just have a very nice voice.
For sleeping I mean
great video! i'll have to try those butterflies. Also hype to watch that kingdom hearts video right after this one!
oh, not up quite yet? Well, I'm sure it will be any minute now.
You needed this, phil. Bless

allat AND the spell looks amazing

I just woke up to a new Tulok and Mango video! Today’s gonna be good :D
nice to see a happy tulok
The Sunflower actually takes 66% less damage if hit in the stem, but i think it's even more resistant to status effects (ones it isn't immune to) and stance damage.. probably about 70 or 80%
Can we get more Phil lore? I’d love to hear some stories about how you became the literary genius you are.
Now this just makes me want to homebrew the butterfly spell for dnd now xD
The halberd is actually good, tho. It scales arcane pretty nicely, and has the nice fancy halberd moveset, even if the ash skill isn't up to snuff (in pvp)
And on the subject of askes, you could use the spiral stinger kick move. It isn't given to you by fighting her, but it is 100% a move she uses against you, which bursts big big damage if used against someone who is poisoned/rotted.
I pray to GOD they don’t nerf this shit again, this is the most fun thing I’ve ever seen/used.
Genuinely shocked that Romina turned out to be the fun powerhouse run. Also I thought DLC meant Disk Locked Content
I think Phil needed this, and so did I!
I’m so hyped for video time!
The Butterflies got a lot better in patch 1.13. Before that, they were pretty bad, and I think that's generally where most of the sentiment against them comes from.
But 1.13. improved the range, rot build-up and shortened the intervall inbetween damage tics.
You say this video can't make my health worse but you'd change your mind if you saw my posture right now
I LOVE ROMINA I LOVE THE HALBERD I LOVE BUTTERFLIES I LOVE TULOK I LOVE ROMINA THIS IS PEAK
