  • Travel to God’s own country is a mix of sightseeing, culinary delight, Spice farm tour and more. This is Episode 5 of our journey of Kerala tour.
We spent 18 days in Kerala, if you have not seen previous episodes, i would suggest you to look at Kerala playlist on this channel, so you don’t miss on continuity.
Following are the details of places we visited for food and sightseeing as part of our journey from Munnar to Thekkady.
Elephant Abode Boating Centre: This place has good scenic views, though they have cafeteria but nothing much of food front. This place is about 45 minutes drive from Munnar.
    Entry Charges - Rs 30/-
Boating Charges : We didn’t do boating but noticed the charges for boating at this place
    Speed Boat - Rs 1100/- (5 person including infant - 05 minutes)
    Pontoon Boat - Rs 1900/- (20 person Including Infant - 30 minutes)
    Pedal Boat - Rs 300/- (2 person & 1 below 5 yr Kid - 30Minutes)
Address - Boating Point Rd, Kerala 685613
    Google Map Location - bit.ly/2Fy6JP1
Hotel Sree Krishna: we found this restaurant at Poopara, we had Tapioca here, it is a popular and famous breakfast of Kerala and very famous in this region of Kerala.
    Tapioca with chutneys Rs. 50
    Address: poopara, Kerala
    Google Map Location - bit.ly/2AQMGrb
    Periyar Spice and Ayurvedic Garden:
We requested the spice farm owner to help us show the fruit by plucking it from the farm for a greater appeal, normally they don’t do this plucking and allowing visitors to eat the fruit.
    Entry Fee - Rs 100
    Address: Vandanmedu, Kerala 685551
    Google Map Location - bit.ly/2W4QjT1
If someone wants to buy spices, you can do that at this spice farm.
Ammu's Coffee Shop: Spotted this eatery on the highway, enjoyed the following snack before reaching Thekkady
    Banana Fry Rs. 12
    Pyaz Pakora Rs. 10
    Chai Rs. 15
    Address: ajayante kada, Kerala
    Google Map Location - bit.ly/2U2muRr
Grandma's Restaurant: This is little expensive on cost but i enjoyed the food bcoz of its simplicity.
    Mushroom - Rs. 200
Kerala parotta - Rs. 25 per pc
    Address: Bypass road, thekkady, Kerala
    Google Map Location - bit.ly/2MlbLij
Do let me know through comments about your experience of Kerala food and places to visit, i would look forward to hear back from you in this regard.
Just for your information i stayed at Club Mahindra at both Munnar and Thekkady, i have their membership. We got our taxi from Kochi taxi 24X 7.. Paid them about 45 total cost 18 days… this tour had extended working hours and long stretches of travel.
Just in case if you want to connect with them you can do so by visiting.
    www.kochitaxi24...
    Thanks for your time.

We went to kerala last week for four days. We stayed -
    two nights in munnar,
    one night in allepey,
    one night in kovalam.
Day 1 - Reached Munnar from Cochi by busin the morning. Booked cloud valley hotel in the munnar city as we didn't go thru our own vehicle. Rented an auto for 800inr per day. Did our brunch from hotel gurubhavan, karimeen fish(very famous in kerala) and went for sightseeing. Covered photo point, matupetty dam, elephant ride, speed boating, echo point, top station, tea gardens, movie shooting locations, and in the evening went for sword show which was fascinating.
Day 2 - Rented the same auto for 1000rs for whole day. Covered many waterfalls, tea gardens, pothemedu viewpoint and enjoyed kathakali performance in the evening.
Day 3 - Went allepey from munnar in the morning, reached allepey in the afternoon. Checked it in our houseboat in the afternoon. Served delicious lunch on boat. Enjoyed boat ride through the backwaters, went on an island, bought some fish for dinner, ayurvedic massage is also famous there for relaxation, went sunset point on the boat, did photography. And in the evening served snacks. Night we stayed in a port and fininshed our dinner.
Day 4 - Checked out from boat in the morning and catch our bus for trivandrum. Reached trivandrum in afternoon and went to kovalam beach which is arount 10km from trivandrum from auto. Kovalam beach reached fininshed our lunch on a seaside restaturant with traditional seafood. And enjoyed the evening in the lighthouse and kovalam beach. The beach is full of foreigners.
I have captured the whole trip thru my cam

    • @visa2explore
      @visa2explore  5 ปีที่แล้ว

thanks for correcting me but i thought it was banana fry.. plantatin the tree... and banana is the fruit.. can you elaborate bit on this pl.....

    • @girishmnair
      @girishmnair 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Hi Harish, Plantains are different from dessert bananas and are larger, generally cooked raw as a form of starch like potatoes, yams, sweet potatoes etc. They are also used for making chips when raw. When ripe they are used like dessert bananas and in Kerala for the "Pazham Pori" or fritters. See the Wikipedia article on this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooking_banana. Anyways, the important thing is that you enjoyed the fritters that is all that matters! Have fun..!

As usual the video was indeed very nice and interesting specially the spice farm.I had heard about cocoa butter but had no idea as to how it is produced or obtained. The ajwain plant reminded me of the one I had in my garden. Its leaves are used to make very tasty pakodas or bhajiyas. The entire leaf is dipped in the batter made of besan and then deep fried.
    A very very beautiful episode.

Had gone to Munnar in 2015. It's a heaven on earth. All things are excellent but were a very hard time spending 3 days eating. Couldn't able to digest the smell of coconut oil in foods due to its strong smell. At last, found a veg restaurant that used to cook foods with refined oil. Thank God, It saved us🙏

Harish Bhai , my whole family watch your show and enjoy. In your yearly concluding remarks you said that you will not respond to all comments due to health issues. We wish you best of health and fitness. One reason i can guess for your deteriorating health is that you never left any gravy or chattni at any place and even eat it with spoon. second you always search for what in addition is offered as free.the happiness comes to your face after eating something as free is priceless/mind-blowing Your eager search for getting something as free is really commendable. its just the lighter part, Never mind and keep making good videos.

Oh god. Too good sir. You were right in saying that a person needs to develop taste to enjoy local delicacies and who better than you can say that. The promo for upcoming video was exciting. Keep the good work going.

Sir, I am big fan of yours. Your simplicity and patience(kind of pause) is key ingredient. I dont find this with new kids doing all over the internet except ronnie and barty blog.

Hello Harish Ji ! Namaskaar !
Too good coverage of the Spice Garden...and no words for the scenic lush green landscapes of Kerala...I am sure you must have developed a thing for the Kerala Parota, very soft & interesting to eat...One thing I was thinking of telling you that if ever you would be planning to visit Odisha, then in stead of March make it within February...as you would be feeling heat a bit... especially while covering coastal parts like Puri, Konark, Bhubaneshwar the climate would be a little humid...And also by March the migratory birds viewing at famous Chilika Lake won't be enjoying bacause with the advent of summer the birds would be home bound... Nevertheless come to Odisha, a hidden treasure;not exlploited in touristic point of view as compared to other famous destinations...👍👍👍

Southern India has such spectacular beauty and also people are more cleanliness, discipline, and nature wary which the Northern States must take heed to. Accha always wanted to ask You Sir Ma'am ne kitne bar object kiya hain aap akele jate ho :)). Anyways Take Care..Belated Happy New Year 2019:).
