Atal Bihari Vajpayee‘ speech about kerala :
Kerala has always fascinated me. This strip of verdant land between the blue sea and green mountains has a richness that is divine to any eye. No wonder that even the predecessor government, whatever their views on matters godly, chose to continue to project Kerala to the outside world as ~God's Own Country~.
I see Keralas greatness in the gopurams of its temples, the spires of its churches, and the domes of its mosques. I am filled with awe when I think of the young boy from Kaladi, Sankara, who travelled all the way to Kashmir and Kedarnath and illumined the entire Bharat with his intellectual brilliance. What a glorious tradition of peace, harmony and social reform you have inherited. What a progressive spirit your State has breathed down the ages. One of the first ever satyagrahas in India for temple entry for lower caste Hindus was organized in Kerala. Some of the inspiring chapters in the struggle for social equality and workers rights were written in Kerala.
Kerala has never lived only for itself. It has always lived for India. Your poet laureate, Mahakavi Vallathol wrote and I quote:
    Bharatam Ennaperu Kettalabhimana
    Puritaamakanam Antharangam
    Keralamennperu Kettal Thilakkanam
    Chora Namukku Njerampukalil
(When we hear the name Bharatam, our hearts should be filled with pride,
When we hear the name Keralam, blood should surge in our veins with pride.)
Kerala has never been inward-looking. It has always looked and forayed beyond its shores. Your Mahakavi Pala Narayanan Nair sang:
    Keralam Valarunnu Pashchima Ghattangale
    Keriyum Kadannum Chennanayum Desangalil
(Kerala grows crossing the Western Ghats And reaches far corners of the world.)

Brother, I am basically from Kozhikode Dt, and now staying in Ernakulam, near Fort Kochi. I am familiar to Waynad since my mother is from that side. I have been watching your videos about Kochi, Munnar, Waynad trips. By chance I came to see these videos. Such a wonderful way of narration. Since I stayed in Delhi for more than 5 years, it was so easy for me to follow what you are saying. I have very good friends from North India, and while watching your videos, I felt like I have been traveling with one of them! :-) Super cool.

    • @rah8985
      @rah8985 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

As malayali let me debunk this myth .
Literacy has no strong correlation with civic sense and social responsibility . Neatness/cleanliness has more to do with culture and upbringing of an individual. How he/she has been taught to behave in the public . You will find devience there as well ( go see a bandh or jhatha in Kerala and you ll understand) .
Malayalis travel more to outside countries and bring back those learnings .
Central India especially UP,Bihar ,Haryana and Delhi is where you find these problems of pan- guthka spits , open urination, littering and such things mostly .
The parents and elders are not teaching or themselves demonstrating to the kids sufficiently about good civic sense..

Awesome Video as always. Am really glad that you mentioned about Thrissur - The cultural capital of Kerala. In Kerala we do add Tamarind juice to the Sambhar for the sour taste. Some people add grated coconut while roasting the Sambhar masala while some don't depending on their choice. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the remaining part of your Wayanad visit. Keep on posting.

    Hi, Mr. Harish Balli Sir,
Following your's videos on TH-cam, particularly Kerala State.
Travellers should experience local foods/delicacies, but sometimes it becomes difficult. Having food served in banana leaf, eating by bear hands with multiple dishes, a completely different aroma and taste, Bravo!
Being a hard core Punjabi, I found Adams Tea Shop, in Calicut the best, in terms of ambience, rustic yesteryears decore. The Chicken dishes they served, seems the best. The texture & aroma, one can easily eat them with knife and fork, completely neat and clean.
Sir, must tells your viewers the approximately how much are the expenses occurred in the tour.

Next time, do visit Thrissur. Apart from Guruvayur temple, there are other beautiful temples in and around Thrissur. Also u can visit Athirappilly waterfall in Thrissur district which is the best in Kerala. It’s a well known location for many movies.

Good vlog. Your Kerala series has been fabulous. Your pace and modulation is absolutely brilliant.
You may want to cover Thrissur in central Kerala and the lagoons in North Kerala too, which would be great.
Talking about sambar in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the latter tend to use more tamarind and a bit of flour as a binding agent to keep the sambar thick. In Kerala, it is a bit watery with dhal dominating. Karnataka preparation involves adding jaggery and Andhra uses lower proportion of dhal and more veggies. Hope this helps

@@visa2explore Also tamilnadu sambar has jeera (cumin seeds) where in kerala its not added.Sometimes they add fenugreek also which makes the tastes different. Kerala sambar you add sometimes deep fried coconut paste which gives unique cocconut taste. The main taste keralites like is the asafoetida in sambar.

Aapne sahi kaha, North Kerala foodies k liye heaven hai. Calicut bhi apne food k liye jana jata hai -- halwa, biryanis aur dusre non-vegetarian food k liye. Aapne shayad woh miss kar diya.
