That laugh and his talking cadence. He always sounded so tough and yet had a warmth to him. Seemed like such cool guy and you can see he really took his “big brother” role seriously. Eddie always talks about how Charlie would push him to do many of the things that led to his career and, like everyone knows, he was an amazing storyteller.
Loved the part about the gun and how he refused to make a joke out that situation. Plus, his standup was sooooo funny. Man, you can rant on about him forever. What a cool dude.

This guy had wisdom. I was a Marine machine gunner and I grew up in Manhatten. After my EOS I continued to own firearms. I carried for a while, but something didn't seem quite right. I'm still licensed and I still own firearms, but I NEVER carry, and it's because I had the same exact epiphany that Charlie had. When I'm problem-solving I don't want to have the gun as an option.

I knew Eddie way back in the day when we were little, when his family lived in Brooklyn off of Sheffield avenue. I didn't know Charlie though. My aunt used to date their Uncle Ray (the bearded guy in Harlem Nights who blew up the night club with Robin Harris). At the very beginning of Eddie's 80's stand up comedy "Raw", where the kids were doing the family entertainment...that was something we used to do all of the time. Good times.
