Best ever advertisement for Windsurfer LT. And it shows so nicely that it is 90% about who is sailing and 10% about the kit. Thanks so much Paul for bringing this kind of content to us.
I would add a large percentage of that mix to the conditions as well. Side onshore wind, shoulder high waves nice and spaced out and flat on the inside. Perfect to have fun on the Windsurfer. I loved the crossovers on the shared wave.
Ohh its awesome ....thank you so much **** i have learn Windsurfing 50 years ago whit same sail ..and a board how this in the middel a sword ...and a little fin in back thanks so much for remember on this great time very very nice movie thanks for sharing have a nice time and Greetings from Germany 👍👋😅
Great to see Spotty. I admired his skills and speeds at the shallow inlet in Sandy Point. He was always so powerful and with great technique. I have not seen him sailing Port Phillip bay for a long time.....superb footage once again. Cheers
Absolutely awesome. Too many of us get so hung up on having the “right”board for the given conditions. Screw it, just get out on what you got and give’er. This proves it. You can have fun on anything with the right attitude and obviously some serious skill. He was having way more success powering through lulls and heading upwind, and likely more fun. Epic footage Paul!
What a great video ! How could you not want to try windsurfing after watching this gem? Pretty happy also that it shows fun is not conditionned on riding the newest and smallest kit you can get.
Like Robby Naish 45 yrs ago. First wave riding attempts with a windsurfer. Same pictures. I was 15 yrs old! Life makes circles. We went to the moon 55 yrs ago and we try to go again!!
My first board (door) was a BIC, you must carry it too the water with two people (it was made from the same plastic as the Tupperware boxes :-P) otherwise you get pain in your back. And the mast boom connection was with a rope ......so you must reset it a couple off times, or you must set the rope very short with the risk you break your mast.
So good to see this! I was lucky enough to be sailing with Spotty when he did his 32 knots on that LT. Pretty sure he managed a 45+knot 5x10 on his speed gear the same day. Spotty is a true blue Aussie legend!
Thanks for the video…sheer joy to watch. I had a cassette version of the Windsurfer in the early 1980’s, sailing Middle Harbour off Clontarf out to the Heads. If not there, Narrabeen Lakes or Pittwater off Palm Beach. Sailed most afternoons till the light faded. Some fast sailing, some ended up just cruising…either way, I loved it! 64 yo now…just thinking, I might just jump back into Windsurfing again.
What a beast!! I always wondered how today’s windsurfer would manage with an old board and now I have the answer. It’s simply awesome. It does take a lot of strength to manage in those winds, kudos to Spotty for handling it, he is surely no kid! BTW, anybody noticed the double loop at 9:25?
I used to sail the Columbia river Gorge. Every once in a while, some ancient mariner would show up with a huge board and a tiny sail. He’d go out in 30 mph wind, go puttering out into the middle of the river, catch a 5-6 foot swell, and ride it a couple hundred yards downwind. He could do little turns, front side and backside, as he sailed along, planing the whole way. Then he turned around, and because the river current was going in the opposite direction of the wind, he could sail back upwind to his launch spot. The guy had the oldest gear imaginable, but he was having a blast out there. This guy is awesome, love the jives of the face of the wave
I wonder also what Spotty would make of the Exocet Breeze that Patrice B was talking to Ben about in his recent video. Are long boards in waves gonna make a come-back? Spotty can certainly make that thing dance!
What a fantastic video and just crazy windsurfing! I love my LT, such a fun and versatile board also in stronger winds. It looks so big on land but on the water it is quite a beast. Would love to see Robby Naish on a new Windsurfer LT!!
Amazing shots ! Thank you from a now full time LT sailor ! That Craig Spotty is an incredibly talented windsurfer !!! I have a hard time keeping it honest in 25 knots on my LT ! I must say, for where I live and where I sail , the LT is the perfect fun tool ! Cheers Paul ! ( I still sail occasionally my Kode and my 4.7 zeta above 25 knots 😅)
That board change was revolutionary... The segment of you following Scotty was special.. He's got arms like Arnold Shwarzanegger his back hand that far down the boom... 💪
Amazing how fast he is going and his Wave Skills. Love the natural sound . Great video Paul! P.S. I am using a similar concept which is the Sealion XL. No straps. Great board for surf sailing.
Every video of yours makes me want to travel to Geraldton. I don't know if it's a good place to learn to wavesail but the water looks beautiful and there's always wind and waves haha. Maybe some day...
My wife (now wife - in 1982 my girlfriend) are windsurfers. My wife had a Ten Cate back in the days before F2 and waveboards ect.(my hey-days). So I had to get her a Windsurfer LT a couple of years ago for her birthday! Its kind of a family thing now, even our son rides it occasionally. We know five others in the community who ride too. And take part in competitions.
Interesting setup, mast base completely to the back and without using the daggerboard. I always wonder when to use it and when to skip. But with 68kg I could not manage these windy conditions I think. Still love the LT as in Baltic Sea we most often have light winds around 10-15kts.
Great film Paul. I was at this spot, when I visited North from Perth and Geraldton. Great spot, good video. My compliments, Paul van Bellen (Simon van der Sluijs, Windsurfer LT Netherlands)
I use to take my Starboard Cruiser 12’6” out with a Sailworks Retro 6.5 at Hood River, boy did I get some looks! I really enjoyed it. Couldn’t keep the nose down very well. Love this type of sailing😎🇲🇽
Great skills ..not easy to sail with this long board in these conditions and the guy just nail it .....imagine what this guy can do with a wave board !!!
Bloody living it, Paul. Do you remember in one of the old school, classic Gaastra videos, Robby. Wish said if more people used kit that was easier to sail and simple they’d have more fun. This is the real life example of that. 💪💪🤙💥
A simple video.... just showcasing the speed of the Windsurfer LT. Hope you enjoy!
Hi Paul, Nice video. Was wondering which Mavic 3 you are using? BR Jacob
@@JacobGramtorp Mavic 3 Pro
Yes
we can't put footstraps on the windsurfer LT?
@@LotfiMistralwhy? Clearly don’t need them. The guy outsails Paul in holey conditions.
Best ever advertisement for Windsurfer LT.
And it shows so nicely that it is 90% about who is sailing and 10% about the kit. Thanks so much Paul for bringing this kind of content to us.
A lot of skill there!
Just what I was thinking. Like Mick Jagger once said, "It's not the song, it's the singer."
I would add a large percentage of that mix to the conditions as well. Side onshore wind, shoulder high waves nice and spaced out and flat on the inside. Perfect to have fun on the Windsurfer. I loved the crossovers on the shared wave.
@@dairyairman yes, Paul was singing a sad song about the wind but Spotty thought it was well fine.
Also a good advert for the Mistral and Fanatic (?) which are the same board with different stickers on them.
Best filming of windsurfing I've seen - great job and thanks for sharing!
I love it. No music... just the wind and the board tipical sound when planning on the water...
this man is a hero. His skill is undeniable. He keeps up with everyone on small and new gear. incredible...
Wow, what an Inspiration. This guy is an absolute LEGEND !!!
Seriously considering an LT now!!
Wish there were more in the UK.
Great video too
So many legendary sailors in OZ, great to see this one's face and what he does on an LT.
The video? I agree with all the comments - GOOOOOOD 🤙🏾
This video made me happy. Showing the pure joy of windsurfing. Thank you.
Amazing!! Thank you for bringing back the magic of windsurfing!!! 🤩👏
Beautiful, hypnotic, I went back 40 years...
Yeah, me too 😂, good old time. Robby Naish, Pete Cabrinha, Jürgen Hönscheid, Windglider, Mistral Competition, HiFly 444. Damn, what a Time.
Love this!! ❤ This is actually a proper windsurfing video! Sun, waves, wind, having fun, blasting with friends, great action shots. LOVE IT!
Amazing Paul. Thanks so much for putting this together. Brings back lots of great memories and is super-inspiring to get out on some big kit again!
🙌

Great to see Spotty. I admired his skills and speeds at the shallow inlet in Sandy Point. He was always so powerful and with great technique. I have not seen him sailing Port Phillip bay for a long time.....superb footage once again. Cheers
Amazing control, especially with the standard rig.

Wow, great video and superb sailing on the LT. Has got me inspired to use the LT in stronger winds!
This is absolutely amazing. Glad I purchased a windsurfer LT. This just proves that it can do it all.
Until you start going for loops 😅 although, I bet that a backloop would be possible (pretty dangerous though) with straps
Wow, that guy's an amazing sailor! Makes me pine for my old Windsurfer One Design from the 80's.
What a great video ! How could you not want to try windsurfing after watching this gem?

Love it - best picture and best sound golden Oscar
all your clips are very very good, but this one is just remarkable ... and no music, just wind, waves, voice occasionally. what a delight. Thank you!
No footstraps, no battens, a long boom & THIS IS the sign of a skilled windsurfer....doing what many of us enjoyed years ago !
My first board (door) was a BIC, you must carry it too the water with two people (it was made from the same plastic as the Tupperware boxes :-P) otherwise you get pain in your back. 👍🏄More joyfully exciting Windsurfing actions which were excellent and exciting to watch, but I just wish that it was me performing them.
Classic rig and board, beautiful sight on the plane.

Well done. I looked at the LT in North Beach Windsurfing FL. They said it was good. This proves it.

Double something or rather - duck the sail then 2 spins off the wind
Most beautiful video last 5 years 👏👏👏👏
Superb footage! Come on Ben Proffitt, you know that you have to give it a go😀

Longboard revival! Love my 11'8 Exocet windsup in the waves and casual cruising. Step tail is magic. Their new Breeze models are intriguing as well.
Me too! My Exocet 11’8” is great for open ocean😊 I would still like a Windsurfer LT as well…
Keeping on bringing the fun back to Windsurfen!

The skill and control he is showing to sail those big old rigs is fantastic to see

Those LT boards are a lot of fun
Rented one last holiday and really enjoyed it
inspring. It is not about the highest, fastest. It is about enjoying it and staying safe. Looks so smooth and fun what he does without footstraps.
superb, I really need to get one. Started in 1977 with the teak boom version, be nice to go full circle 🙂
Go for it!
You make it look easy. great video

I’m new to windsurfing. Was this rear fin only? No centreboard? What would be pros and cons? Too stiff in the waves? More drag?
Rear fin only
Those swell gybes! Spotty is a G!

Brilliant. But also, who and what is that lunatic doing a spinny thing in the background at about 9:25?
It‘s Lucas Nebelung, german freestyler…
