Clark has a great testimony, I was in an accident and broke my back in 10 places so I can relate to his story. Love this podcast

Fell from a 25 foot wooden stand when I was 15. The floor broke while I was standing on it in the pitch black of the morning just as I climbed up into it and dropped the flashlight for my dad to come up. He was halfway up the ladder when the floor hinged and swung down and I went straight to the ground feet first. The railing fell on top of me and 4 inch nails were stopped by the hoodie I was wearing from going into my neck. Snapped my left leg in half just above my ankle. Luckily that was the only serious injury I sustained then. It was the scariest thing ever. This was a great episode to hear. Treestand safety is no joke.

we have a guy at my deer lease and he uses the same track chair and we built him a deer stand where he just drives into the back of it. i was there the first night he killed a deer and i will never forget that. saying all that never give up man there are always ways that you can get back in the woods all you need is dedicated and determination never give up man.

Clark. Man, I love your outlook on the situation. You are alive and it could have been so much worse.
This hits close to home for me. I had a very similar treestand accident the last day of deer season in Jan of the same year as you. I broke 5 vertebrae I my lower back and have my neck fused as well. One minute I was bullet proof, the next I was unsure what the rest of my life would be like. God bless you man. I wish you the very best. Keep hunting. It was hard for me the first time back but it is so worth it. Give me a holler if you ever want to come out to TX and hunt from a blind.

My Uncle had a brain stem bleed in late September 2018, suffered in parts of his extremities partial paralysis and wasn't supposed to survive the ordeal the doctors said he should have died on the spot when the blood clot broke open on the brain stem. In the hospital the doctors were uncertain whether he would survive and if he did survive they believed he would be confined to a wheel chair the rest of his life. It was a miracle but he survived the surgery but had little control over bodily functions and still retained the partial paralysis from before the surgery but luckily he could still move and feel everything. In a about one months time he was able to relearn to somewhat walk again and was able to be discharged from the hospital. Like Clark my uncle was a dedicated bowhunter and still lives and breaths deer hunting like myself and my Dad, he was like my second dad to me and was the man to teach me to fish freshwater and taught me just as much as I know about deer hunting as my dad did. He was so persistent and motivated by whatever it was going to take to get back in the woods and be able to bow hunt again. I was thankfully still home and going to a college where I was able to take weekends to be able see him. The question finally arose if I would be able to take him hunting and I wasn't sure if I could take care of him and I was worried about all the things that could go wrong with putting him out by himself and letting him hunt alone. I did take him and everything went well and he was able to get through it although there were troubles and obstacles to overcome, but it helped him mentally and when the season ended it was another year of recovery and gaining back more mobility and strength. To end it fast forwarding to today he is able to drive, walk with still lingering affects mainly a limp, permanent double vision, and he works out to keep himself in healthy shape. He still hunts but due to damage in his eyes he had to retire his bow and get a crossbow to be able to shoot a deer. Today we joke about all the things that could of been, but I am thank full he is still alive today and we can still share memories and make new ones. After watching the episode with Clark it brought everything back to me with what happened with my uncle and the similarities in some cases, these moments in life we are tested and brought even closer together as family and friends and that is a beautiful thing no matter the circumstances or outcomes. I hope Clark will find peace in his situation and continue to hunt as I think it will help him overcome as you guys said to move forward with love for God, family and friends, because as he said in those moments of death knocking at the door your real self puts everything out there and all you could ever want is to see those that are most important to you. You guys are awesome and hopefully this will save or change lives in the future.
