We visit the village of Windermere in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria for a walk around the town centre streets, to see the shops and cafes, restaurants, hotels and guesthouses in this gorgeous place.
Windermere grew around the railway station here that brings tourists and visitors to the area and down to the lake, whilst offering places to stay and things to do when it's raining in the Lake District such as eating in one of the cute little restaurants or drinking in one of the country pubs or bars here, or maybe shopping for some walking and hiking equipment for your walks in the lakes and mountains in the countryside around the town.
We start at Windermere Train Station opposite the Windermere Hotel on Kendal Road at the top of the town before heading downhill through the streets and past the shops for a good look around this popular tourist destination.
Boats from the piers in Bowness sail around the lake, many calling at Ambleside or at Lakeside where there is a restored railway. Windermere Hotel opened at the same time as the railway.
Historically a part of the county of Westmorland, Windermere town was known as Birthwaite prior to the arrival of the Kendal and Windermere Railway, which stimulated its development.
Windermere is a very well known holiday destination for people looking to holiday in the lake district or come for a weekend or even a day trip, to visit the lake, have a boat trip and travel to the other towns and villages close by.

If you visit the Lake District do try and visit those places. They're a real treat for tourists and visitors looking for the best tourist attraction or places to visit in the Lake District.

Grange over Sands is a lovely place to go to. Small place. Then there is Ulverston and Barrow in Furness. Whitehaven.

Love from India --- I do watch videos of a lot of channels presenting the quintessential beauty of the UK. This channel is one of my favourites. Love for the beautiful English countryside from me.. 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Next weekend my sister and I go to the Windermere hotel, which I believe was just out of view at the start of this video. It would have been good to see the walk from that hotel down to the lake where we can catch a ferry. Another suggestion of a lovely place is Buttermere and Crummock water, as a teenager we camped on a farm between these two lakes and I remember buying fresh milk from the farm and washing in the freezing cold beck that ran through the farm.
If your still in the lake district, hop on a bus to keswick on Thursday or Saturday market days. Its also a lovely village to walk round, some interesting art work down the little side streets look out for the giant cast iron giraffe 🦒. Enjoy.
Ah I filmed Keswick already (should be out on Sunday at 3pm)
