You say 'twin turbo', but the correct terminology is 'compound turbo'. CAT got out of the truck engine market because the arbitrary emissions standards set by the US government were going to make them look bad by reducing fuel economy and shortening the life of their engines - things that set CAT apart from the rest. Those compound turbo engines met the emissions standards without the need for EGR, which turned out to be the achilles' heel for the other engine manufacturers due to the expensive to replace EGR coolers failing way sooner than they should have.
Theres 2 good channels i watch about these engines, one is kt3406e, and the other is adept ape. Both are cat diesel mechanics. Pretty cool knowledge about these and other cat engines
There are 2 versions of c15 one is c-15. IMO the E and very early c15 are the way to go anything dual turbo is a crapshoot and will need conversion in the future simply due to maintenance..
He also had the Serial Numbers in the Wrong Order. For Cat E-Model Motors the Correct Order is - 5EK/1993 Year, 6TS/1997 Year, 1LW/1998 Year, & 2WS/1999 Year. The 15.8 L’s were 5DS/1998 Year, 1MM/1999 Year, & C-16 7CZ/2000 Year. For C-15 & C15 Motors, C-15 6NZ/2000 Year, C-15 MBN Bridge Motor/2002 Year, C15 BXS/2003 Year, C15 MXS/2004 Year, C15 NXS/2006 Year, and Final C15 Acert Motor with DPF Filter Model is C15 SDP/2008 Year.
Motor is a 98 only because of the month. This was a crate engine based on a CaT reman block with all new head and internals off the crate in 2016 from cat. Peterbilt of Greenbay, WI paperwork and a Cat warranty backs what I said. I told you all it was a factory replacement in the video. That truck doesn’t match the engine, it was replaced with the same family.
What's the mpg's like with all that tq. You had to put a heavy duty clutch in but did the trans has to be changed or it was able to be turned up like the motor. People use to be scared of the price of repairs so they'll go with the 12.7. I know a guy with a 2000 classic made like the Pete with the same motor but with 18sp that I want to try to buy next yr if I get my CDL back
Yes those modifications were done in 2016. They got as close as they could with the 13 speed and clutch rated for 2050 tq and trans rated for 1850. Still calculating mpg but it’s pretty good. I have 2 Detroits in the fleet and you can’t beat them 💪🏽
@@HotShotHaven all my cats could get about the same mpg as the detroits when empty/light. when pulling heavy across pa(I80) cat would outpull the detroit and get better mileage.
Damn.. 95mph?..thats crazy...
🚛💨💨💨💨💨💨
Yep I have 24.5 tall rubber 💪🏽
DO YOUR THING NOBLE ENTERPRISES!!
Great looking truck. Nothing like a Pete. I just bought one. Mine will run 90 mph. Pray that God keep opening doors for you and company 🙏
You too bro!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 those 24.5 talls gave me a little bump I think😃
Happy thanksgiving to you and your family.
Congratulations my brotha
Great video very Professional !!!! I’m inspired thanks.
Preciate you!
Nice truck looks good
Great video, what kind of fuel mirage you get with that 3406e?
Currently averaging 6.4 all miles
You wasn’t messing around 🤝
Noooo siiir🙏🏽

Which in your opinion is better 3406e or c15 ?

You didn’t mention the 1mm
Yeah it’s actually a 16 liter and doesn’t exact fall in with the 15’s but IS based on the same block and heads💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 Great looking out on that🫡🫡🫡
Or the 5ds.

Dont belive he knows alot about cats the last 3406 was 2ws 6ts was only made in 97

I think I'd l8ke 3406B in a cab over kenworth. Less power but more reliable. Like my 7.3. Less power but it just goes
Facts and I’ve seen some B models with the pump set up right and they really move..
What's the horsepower
Cat file says 550 hp 2150 tq and has a bullseye turbo..🚛💨💨💨
