2 bolts hold the panel that the seat lock is attached to. Remove them to get the lock out of the way. Saves a lot of pain. Kind of beatiful how it is JUST in the way.
I show numbers in the video, just changing your coils won't fix your problem, if you have the flashing lights on the dash then your dash and probably ECU are already fried.
Apologies for late reply, my only advice would be to check see if its been done already, if not do a search for ducati recalls there is a site you can input your vin number that tells you if your bike had the recall done and the choke fitted, although some people that had the recall done still had issues so for me it was cheap insurance to buy a second hand set of coils and fit them and it removes the doubt that it could happen to your bike.
To be honest I don't know as have never worked on a 950, are you sure the stock coils on the 950 are the same as the stock coils on the 821? I know there Beru coils but do part numbers match up? I've never heard of anyone having an issue with the coils on a 950.
@@skarolis46 ok didnt realise that, they must have done something to rectify the issue then as the 950's have been out a good few years now and not seen any reports of it happening to them.
Hello, unfortunately it sounds like your dash and possibly your ECU is fried, you'll need to get it to Ducati so they can plug it into there diagnostic machine, if your lucky then maybe they'll honour the warranty and fix for free since it's a known issue, if they do fix then change your coils after the fix as the newer coils Ducati fit have still been known to cause the same issue.
Thanks for your respond sir the dash looks fine it just fash like a disco and it said arrow but I’m not mechanic I guess I’m gonna have to take it to the dealer I’m not happy with this bike under 5000k miles
@@franciscomarte6370 Maybe its just ECU, or could be a totally unrelated problem... Ducati done a "fix" where they put a choke on some of the wires going to the dash but this only saved the dash and people were still frying there ECU's even after the fix, if you haven't already check out the link to the hyperstrada forum in the video description as there is a lot of info about this issue and the fix in that thread, might also be good to show the dealer in case they try to say its not a known issue, good luck and keep me posted on what the issue is please, thanks.
@@franciscomarte6370 Hey mate, sorry for late reply I've been away working with limited internet access, what have you done/tried so far? have you had to a ducati mechanic to get it plugged in and see what the issue is?
I think you said "...get 848 coils" but then you said you used Eldor coils from 848" - Ducati 848 EVO 11-13 ignition coils have the same connectors as the Hyper. Will these work ?
If the have the same connectors then they should work, as far as I'm aware any Eldor coils from Ducati bikes that use the 848 or 1098 engine should work.
Chances are if your getting the Christmas tree lights on the dash then damage is already done, do a search for the Ducati recalls page and input your vin number and it will tell you if the recall was done on your bike, if not then get yourself to your nearest Ducati dealer as they e been pretty good at honouring the fix on a lot of bikes.
The beru coils? Yes but many people have still had issues even after getting their coils changed, not a chance I was willing to take for the small price of some 2nd hand Eldor coils, cheap insurance in my book to not have any issues later down the line.
I have a 2013 821 hypermotard sp..Did the recall from ducati adding the Can bus filter..Basically with a sprint filter,Termignoni slip on & T800 upmap..Only recently when i ride it i notice alot of backfire..My mechanic told me might be ur ignition coil..I check mine & still has the Stock Beru coil..Already ask my mechanic to order for me the Eldor coil..i hope it fix the backfire & not so smooth 4krpm to 5rpm surging..Its hard to be smooth on it.Btw Im from Singapore 🤓✌🏼
Hi Ismail, not sure the coil change will fix your backfire issue but it will give piece of mind that you won't suffer the christmas tree dash lights and fry your ECU, are you sure your T800 upmap is set up for slip on and not full system? Also when doing your coils fit new spark plugs also as this may help a little as these bikes are quite sensitive to fouled/dirty/old spark plugs.
I've seen this mentioned before somewhere but can't remember what the fix was, check out the hyperstrada forum linked in the description and also the ducati.ms forum as that's the only forums I use so must be on one of them, good luck and let me know what the issue/fix was when you get it sorted, cheers.
@@RudeboyMoto yea I have a sc project already I’m in the U.S. I just did honestly like the way that looked. Also I was a bit comfused on the coil pack upgrade. The Ducati 848 ones you used plugged directly into the harness but that Hyperstrada forum the guy used Aprilia ones and had to modify the connector. Any reasoning behind that? Thanks for the quick reply!
@Cameron Caltabiano the Aprilia ones have different connectors from Ducati so need to be changed to fit where as ones from an 848 or 1098 are the same connection so no modification required.

Which mirrors do you use on the Ducati?
They are CRG mirrors.

What exactly is the purpose for changing out the ignition coils?
If you watched the video you'd already know the answer, basically the stock coils are known to cause voltage spikes which can damage the dash and ECU.
Hey, any idea if these Eldor coils would fit on 2021 Hyper 950SP? Technically they should, cause stock coils are same as were on you Hyper

So did you put the coils from the 848 to the hyprmotard .
Yes, picked up a used set from ebay off of an 848, I believe they can also be from a 1098 as they are the same.
hello brother! can you please tell me the exact name of the coils you bought? i don't find them in ebay, thanks in advance!
Hi, I just searched eBay for Ducati 848 coils, the exact coils are Eldor coils and part numbers are shown in video.
Hi just wanna ask.
Does 848 coils are as good as Aprilia?
They are exactly the same, aprillia coils are made by Eldor and so are the 848 coils.
