    That is awesome. Looks like you have the stone very balanced and true. I hope you folks are doing well. It sure is good to hear your voices and see you again even if it is only by video. Been missing you folks.

      Thank you Mr. Duncan. It can really put a keen edge on axes or knives.

    Lovely! I have been looking for a treadle powered design but never found quite what I needed until yours. Thanks for posting!
    That’s an impressive pile of firewood you’ve got there, too. 🪵

    Thanks for the video on the wet stone. They are scares around here in one piece. For some reason I always pick them up, at sales or what ever, even if not in one piece ? I guess because it reminds me of days gone by.

    The wood pile is still looking well tended. Glad to be snow free.

    You need to spin that stone the other way when sharpening. It should be turning towards you. Nice build on the project.

      Thanks for the commenting, The stone has a few nicks on the edge and they seem to want to catch the blade when I spin it toward me, also the water seems to like to spray on me when rotating toward me. I am no expert on using these that is for darn sure but it seems to create fewer issues for me to just turn it away from me. The logic I guess for turning toward oneself would be: less of a burr???

      @@aktrapper6126 -- It's more efficient to spin the whet stone towards the edge for it removes material from the edge first, sharpens faster and doesn't remove a lot of material behind the edge. Turning the stone away from you removes the material behind the edge first, in time wearing the tool, knife, etc. down faster decreasing it's life span and takes longer to sharpen. I'm thinking of making a video about whet stone proper use and dispelling certain myths.

      @@ironcladranchandforge7292the only difference betwen edge trailing and edge leading sharpening on these stones are: Edge trailing create a longer burr that's harder to get rid of. I do edge trailing when I need to remove a lot of material. Edge leading at the end and very low pressure to remove the burr.

    Do you have plans for someone to build, or are you willing to make these custom to sell? If so, take my money!!

    That is crazy awesome! Just subbed, found your channel through Far North Bushcraft's channel! By the way, where did you get that stone?

      Thanks for subbing, Lonnie has a great channel and is a close friend. I got the stone from an ad in a local FB sale cycle. It had been up for sale for $60 for several weeks when I discovered it. I could not believe someone had not beaten me to it! Sometimes you get lucky.

    how you restore stone how you balance it ?

    • @aktrapper6126
      @aktrapper6126  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The stone was way out of round and the arbor "center shaft" was bent. I turned an new center shaft on my lathe and I used a diamond dresser to make the stone round again. Sorry it took so long to get back to you but I never saw your question until today.
