Man you hurt me so bad not liking Mama haha. That song is a masterpeice. The dynamics! The story telling! The passion! Its been my favorite off the album since the album dropped. (OG MCR fan here) i still get chills when it pops up on my playlists.

To be fair I’ve grown to like this album more and more on repeated listens. It did throw me for a loop on first listen for sure but I get what it was going for now. It still isn’t one of my favorites tho.

Sleep is such a ghostly song, you can hear the music covering up his voice screaming wake up in the background as if his subconscious wants him to fight despite the overwhelming dread of everything shouting at him to sleep.
If you want any recommendations for any artists albums to listen to I suggest “Transmissions” from the band STARSET. It’s a really cool soft rock/hard rock/synth pop album that has some really great songs in there.
I enjoyed your reaction to MCR, it’s nice not to see fake reactions like other people clearly trying to get views

Mama is about a dude who is telling his mother the atrocities he did at war. The last part is basically the corpses rising up to sing with him "we're damned after all..." I love this song sm and I was so hurt when u said it was ur least favorite 😂😂

i noticed how for a lot people mama is either their absolute favorite or least favorite. it's weird to me how it can be someone's least favorite, for me it's like the most creative and just insanely produced song on the album, but maybe that's exactly it. some people just don't get it lol

I also was alive for the realease of this album but had never even heard of My Chemical Romance before 2015, I don't know how a band can be so popular yet unknown at the same time.
It was fun to see your interpretation of each song and how they fit the narrative of the album. The story is very vague and hard ro piece together, so I don't think anybody can give you crap for your theories being right or wrong.
But Famous Last Words is the real closure of the album, Blood is just a hidden track to surprise those who let the CD run after the album had ended. In this era of streaming, this doesn't really work anymore haha

That makes sense. I listened to the album thru TH-cam playlist and checked the Wikipedia to make sure it properly lined up and on Wikipedia it doesn’t say blood is a bonus track but instead mentions how it’s omitted on the Japanese version?? Odd lil track but now that I know that it’s a bonus helps the ending with Famous Last Words stick harder!

😭😭 not "lizza mineni" liza minnelli is daughter of judy garland and an icon in her right. she just happened to be in the studio at the same time as them and they asked her to be on the song. she likely had no idea who they were and was wondering who the hell these 30 year olds in hoodies and eyeliner were 😂

i'm pretty sure she didn't just happen to be in the studio with them, i think gerard specifically wanted her to be on the track and he said that to their producer rob cavallo and he just called her up because he could lol. she also recorded her parts separately, as she was in NY while they were in LA

The voice recording on Sleep is the singer. He was having nightmares about burning in hellfire while recording the album so he put it in the song.

I think it’s actually the bassist Mikey talking, but yeah the audio is him talking about his nightmares from staying in the Paramour Mansion while recording the album, the building is said to be incredibly haunted

if you liked their explosive musicality i recommend listening to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, the album before this one. its got a loose concept, but mainly the songs are BANGERS

Listen to Green Day next they are essentially what inspired this album

    • @lewienew
      @lewienew 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

No they aren't. They are an influence but they didn't inspire the album. MCR had done a concept album before this, and this album is classic rock inspired. They literally rip off Bowie and Pink Floyd within the first song.

@@lewienew My bad, I did mean to use the word influence, not inspire. But they were a very heavy influence at that. The bumpy vocals and raw power chords weren't invented by Green Day, but definitely significantly popularized by them. You can hear a little bit of Green Day in nearly every MCR song on this album.

@@reelandyreidthe only song I really hear a bit of Green Day in is in the verse of WTTBP, I think the “Green Day sound” you could be picking up on in other songs is just too broadly punk/hard rock to pin it to GD. Especially since, MCR have already discussed such an abundance of influences on their work and this album in particular, that aren’t GD but also fit the bill. Don’t get me wrong they supported GD for the American Idiot tour before Black Parade and were fans of the band afaik, but Black Parade sonically is just sm more classic rock adjacent as opposed to pop punk (which, is a genre MCR has never been a part of lol).
