  • On the 14th of April 2024 KiwiRail and the Rail preservation groups of the lower North Island comprised of Mainline Steam, Steam Incorporated, Silver Stream Railway, Paihiatua Railcar Society and Rail Heritage Trust partnered up to hold the Wellington-Hutt Valley Line Rail 150th event at Wellington Railway Station marking 150 years since the Wellington-Hutt Valley line was opened. The groups essentially put on static displays at the station's Platform 9 with little shops selling and advertising themselves.
This video showcases some of those displays, but it mainly showcases the movements of all the assets attending the event in the morning and evening.
Special Thanks to everyone involved in the even it was very enjoyable.
    Enjoy!

Thanks. Presumably the valves and pistons must still be lubricated when one moves a dead steam loco. How is this done?
