So if a American student goes studying abroad and was asked to not speak English!? This is unacceptable

This professor deserves it! Why pick on the Chinese? Why not ask the Mexican, central or South America not to speak Spanish or other foreign students to speak English?

The 2 professors mentioned are the culprits. Denying students’ rights to internship because of the mother language they used during a private conversation is totally racism. I bet if one of them is a Caucasian (or even look like one), there’ll be no complaint.

Woah this person stepped down lol. Shouldn’t of ever pressed, “send.” Sent home.

Why her comment was accurate in a professional setting you want to speak the language of those around you my grandpa learned japanesse for that reason since he was the head of a American branch of a Japanese company. Communication is important in a professional setting and english is required by law to be a citizen

@@catcowboy6376 Well I'm just saying don't press send and then step down like a puss. Stand your ground if that's what she believes in! I love free speech.

@@JudgeDredd_ I think its sad she has to defend such a common sense statement. She shouldn't have resigned if she let them fire her she would have had a great wrongful termination suit waiting to happen, sadly she backed down as you said.

I don't understand what she did wrong she simply said you should try to speak English during Profesional settings. Of course when speaking professionally you try to speak the language of those your interacting with, its call assimilation and important to fitting into any culture. Colleges are there to prepare you for the real world. English is required to pass the citizenship test for a reason. You wouldn't go to a job interview speaking a diffrent language expecting to get a job. Speaking english in a professional setting is not only polite but a good way to stregthen your english and allows you communicate clearly which is very important in the professional world.

@@kimilsung466 Do you think two Chinese people should communicate in English? If so, when you are in countries where people do not speak English, please speak the local language with you companions. I fully agree that Chinese students should speak English when they communicate with native speakers or in classes. However, it's ok to speak their own language in private occasions.

Dude they were having a private conversation amongst themselves .
It's not like they were refusing to speak english to amerivans or in class. 🙄 Big difference.

@@kimilsung466 The letter specifically says students should attempt to speak english in professional settings. the letter doesn't require english but recommends it in professional settings no mention of a incident in particular in the letter or specific places.

@@davidbrown2273 at no point in the letter did the email require or call for english mandate. It was recommended as advice for proffesional settings in a group email. Yes if I was trying to intern in another country or work and live for a long time I would definitely start learning the language and practicing it every momemnt I could. In professional settings I would definitely try to speak the language as best as I could just like the director of Nintendo trys to speak english when doing interviews. But again no one said speaking Chinese in private is wrong the email said in professional settings. The email made no mention of this supposed inncident, the letter only said professional settings and was sent to all staff as a group email.

Chinese students are offensive in their behaviour. They shout at their professor. They disobey their professors. They always move like a gang.
