I took two friends to a food bank. My policy is to not ever charge for fuel. Many of the people living in my senior apartment complex don't drive anymore. On the way home one of the ladies said she had clothes in my size and invited me to look through them. So nice.
Sometimes you just happen to be in the right place at the right time. I was at my discount food store in the Minneapolis area a couple of weeks ago and I purchased just over $20 of merchandise. The clerk who was ringing up the sale said "did you get your blueberries?" He said if you buy over $20 of stuff today you get a free CASE of blueberries! I couldn't believe it. Now I did know the blueberries were on the older side and I had to pick through them to take out a few bad ones, but I ended up freezing over 7 quarts of blueberries and they are wonderful. I think things like that are a blessing from God.
This is easier for me now. It seems the quality of food at restaurants has declined especially with inflation in the past couple of years. A great tip and reminder.
Oh my I had a brain wave this week Emmy! I purchased a sack of carrots and a sack of potatoes. I never do this but decided for the grand total of £6.00 (UK) that it might be worth a little effort . So I settled myself with a pot of coffee at my table and a film on my laptop and began peeling, chopping, blanching and bagging and freezing! 6 hours work in total but I have made it! Did I feel disheartened at the amount of work? Yes! Did I cry at one point and call my husband a bad name? Yes I did! Did I wake up the next morning and look in my freezer and feel so thrilled ? Yes I did! Not sure i would do it again in a hurry but seeing this amount of prepped food I don't think I will need to!!! Have a wonderful week both of you. Blessings sent from the UK xxx
I work in an Assisted Living facility. When ever the kitchen goes through a large 4 l pickle jar I take it home and use it to store pasta, flour, kidney beans etc. .This month I added two jars to my collection. Since I need to store most of them in the open on a shelf I spray paint the lids with some spray paint I bought on sale at Walmart.
lol. It is just my husband and I and I was saying I want to buy a big jar of pickles. Which we would eat eventually. But I want the jar! Love the idea of painting the top! 💕😊😂
I bought salad fixings to last me a couple of days. I wanted precooked chicken to add to it. A package of precooked presliced flavored chicken was $8.99 for 12oz. Ouch! I went and bought chicken leg quarters for $.99 @lb. Roasted it myself. Not only did I get enough chicken for a couple of days of salad. I got enough to freeze precooked for the next time I wanted salads. All for just $4. Proud of that one.
@@cynthiablodgett1882 I love leg quarters! Boil, debone, boil bones some more. You can make chicken skin to make crispy zero carb chips seasoned however you like- even after boiling them the first time on the bone -add so much flavor to the broth
@TereBrown-n1e, how long do you bake the chicken skin for? That sounds really good. I went to Kroger yesterday, and they had ALL of their hot rotisserie chickens marked down to $3.47. They had simply made too many. I bought two so I could make a decent batch. I wish I had bought more. The more I think about it, I keep coming up with new meal ideas. 😂
@@stephanieblaylock1 Just watch it, doesn't take long specially if it's been boiled first. Btw I didn't return the skin back to boil after meat is cooked, (if some gets in there the dog gets it) so the raw skin takes 20 min or so, (I think, it's been several years) depending on the chicken. Watch it closely first time or 2, see how it goes. Boiled will take less. This was a lifesaver during induction.
I had been looking at getting a food saver but resisted impulse buying and was going to wait for a sale. Next day my mom informs me of a food saver at an estate sale. I got it for $10!
I had two rounds of company this week. My last guests left today. I had bought so much food just in case which we didn't get eaten. They were heading on to a rental cottage on the coast for a week so I packed items for them to take along as they were planning to cook most of their meals there. Tomorrow I'll go through everything in the refrigerator and see what I need to freeze or eat quickly. And I probably won't go food shopping for two weeks or more!
I took advantage of a coupon deal for 5 bratwurst for 99 cents from my local gas station grocery store.. then made a huge pot of Sausage and Vegetable soup. The vegetables were all from my garden too. I also watched a video on how to make homemade flour tortillas and a video on how to make corn tortillas, so now I can make them at home.
Just remember for flour tortillas, even if they aren't perfect they still taste amazing. I make my dough Sunday night and make the balls. Then I store it in plastic wrap or silicone bag. I roll and cook as needed throughout the week. I have a silicone baking mat I use for rolling. Yum. I also make each person (kid) roll and cook their own. Goes faster that way.
@FrugalMoneySaver it's a reminder to me to think outside the box...the good deals aren't always at the traditional grocery store..they can be at the gas station grocery, Farmer's market, or ethnic grocery stores too.
Last week I got whole chickens marked down to $0.92/lb. I bought 8 and put them in the freezer. Feeding 3 boys ages 16, 15, and 12 one chicken doesn't go very far.😊
We went to a thrift store and I found a piece of pottery by a man that I collect. It was a chip and dip bowl in perfect condition. He wanted $90 on his shop but I only paid $28. Score! He is a Missourian artist so I always check the thrift stores here in KC for pieces.
I found lemons on sale for 25¢ each. I thoroughly soaked them in a baking soda solution and rinsed. I zested them and froze the zest flat in a zip bag. Then I juiced them, froze the juice in a silicone cube tray and then stored them in a freezer bag. Finally, i put all the juiced lemon halves in a gallon bag in the freezer to use for stuffing in whole chickens when i roast them, or to flavor broths and soups throughout the year. I was quite pleased with how much i got out of 12 lemons!
Hello to you both! ❤ I just wanted to share that I bought the American woman’s cookbook at a flea market for a dollar!!👏🏻👏🏻 I was so excited I just had to share! Thanks guys, you’re the best!
We attended a wedding earlier this month and my children all needed something nicer to wear to it so I’d found great deals at Kohl’s and had ended up getting $10 in Kohl’s cash. So yesterday my 17-year-old daughter and I went up to Kohl’s and had a contest to see who could get the best “bang for our buck.” we ended up getting two gifts for my mother-in-law and a gift for my sister for Christmas and a hair clip for my daughter and walked out of the store paying four cents! It was a great win, have some early shopping for Christmas done and most importantly teaching my daughter how to live an abundant yet frugal life!
I needed a mirror for my master bath. I needed it a certain height to rest on my counter to cover a blemish on the wall. My sister and I were shopping at a thrift store and she spotted a mirror it was a little shorter than what I needed but I got it anyway. Somebody had painted it and it matched my counter. I put a swag of flowers at the top of the mirror and it was perfect. I paid $5 for a 38-in tall mirror
Love that mirror! A friend had more tomatillos than she could handle so I traded some leeks and green onions from my garden and made five pints of delicious salsa verde! A local grocery had turkey breasts for .99 a pound so I bought two of them to roast then slice and use for sandwiches. Healthier and much less expensive than deli turkey and I get to use the bones for making stock! My most frugal purchase, however, was a book about Baking Bootcamp at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. I’ve always wanted to take their baking courses but the bootcamps cost thousands of dollars for four days! This book takes me right into the experience with a detailed narrative and also explains techniques, gives hints and tips. It ends with the recipes for all the items baked over the course of the camp. For $2.50 I am very entertained and coming as close to the bootcamp experience as a frugal person can get 😄
A coworker of mine had an overabundance of small eggplants and a ton of green tomatoes. I took a few and made fried green tomatoes and I'll be making eggplant parm this weekend. Best thing is I'll be using pasta and sauce that I got on sale earlier this year.
That’s exactly what the Instant Pot is - an electric pressure cooker. I found it fun to adapt recipes from older pressure cooking cookbooks, like Miss Vicki’s Big Book of Pressure Cooking Recipes. 👩🍳
I purchased a small pork tenderloin that was $3.71, but was marked down a dollar. I took it home and put it in a marinade. Cooked in my air fryer the next day. I cooked rice in my IP, chilled the rice and added some chopped veggies and the left over pork loin. Two meals for less than 5 bucks!
I hung our laundry out every single load. The drop in our power bill was AMAZING!!!!! I have purchased a little toaster oven too and use that instead of turning the oven on. 220 volt appliances will wreak havoc on your power consumption.
I have been checking the meat section at my store. They have a $5 a pound section (really good tender steak and pork). I found some with 30%off stickers. Thats steak for $3.50 a pound. Also found 90/10 ground beef also 30% off. Found pollo assada boneless chicken thighs for $2.49 a pound. I won't have to buy meat till next year. Used my food saver. Thank goodness I have a 18 cubic foot freezer in the garage. It's a wonderful feeling to get good deals on stuff you need
I like that you ask thought provoking questions at the end. They make me realize that I did or didn't do something frugal recently. My cat and her visiting friend love the water from my canned tuna and sardines so instead of throwing it down the drain they get to enjoy it as they do every time.
I bake a lot during the fall and winter. Our Fred Meyer ( Kroger) had 4lb bags of sugar for .99 for loyalty members. The limit was 5 and I grabbed them all and my husband sealed them up with the food saver. So, wow sugar prices are running 3. 59 to 4.59 here in Washington I paid $.99. I’m so excited.
@@karlinebohne789lol... Dear departed hubby used to call our Dollar Tree the Twenty Dollar Tree. If he knew how much I spend there now he'd be calling it the Hundred Dollar Tree!
My grocery store had boneless, skinless chicken breasts on sale this week, they were buy one get one free. I went specifically for those and only those. Upon looking at the price, the grocery store raised the price to $6.49 a lb. So basically, they doubled the price and said that was a sale. I walked away. Most times loss leaders are a great buy. Yet, sometimes, loss leaders aren't worth what they claim. Loved this video, your mirror looks perfect! Thanks again for another great Friday.
Just got back from the thrift store in my town. Spent $4 on 3 books. Friday is 1/2 off book day!! YAY! It helps me keep my little library stocked for fall. Have a wonderful week end, bet the colors in your area are stunning!
My want is a weaving loom. That way I can use up all my old shirts and t-shirts for rag rugs. I even used my grandmother's saved funeral ribbons for 3 rugs. And endless uses for it .
Thank you Emmy and Paul for another wonderful video!! That mirror really looks great. To answer this week's question, I was excited about a simple fix that I'm surprised I hadn't done sooner. I bought a few water bottles at the dollar store that I can use for my coffee when I need some on-the-go instead of buying coffee or some other caffeine outside of the house. I'll just pre-make the coffee ahead of time and store in the fridge for iced coffee the next day. Same with using them for water instead of buying plastic disposable water bottles. I am surprised I haven't done this sooner, but it did make me happy this week!
I try to buy items for several uses...i.e. a small meatloaf can give several different meals without being "tired" of it. A tablecloth turned into a curtain...its really fun to do this.
The bathroom mirror is just gorgeous! Yes, mirrors are so expensive!! They are trendy to use at wedding to make seating charts and other signage. I’m making one for my daughters wedding and thankfully i found one on clearance at Home Goods. You definitely always have to keep your eyes open for a bargain ❤
What great thrift finds! Your bathroom looks even lovelier…..it was already classy…..love the instant pot meal, looks so yummy….have you cooked pasta in it? If not, you need to give it a go…..after you place the pasta in, cover with enough water to cover the pasta….no pieces poking above water…..I set my pot for 2 minutes….no stirring, no boiling over…it’s the best….also, when I release the steam, I place a clean dish rag over it, stops it from getting all over my cupboards….hope this helps….thanks again for sharing great tips….
We have been looking for flooring for our new house and got a great deal by one of my wife's coworkers whose husband owns a flooring company. Also we get to pay it off in 12 months interest free. $2000 for flooring for almost 900sq ft of course we are installing ourselves and picking up.
I was at Costco last week & stumbled on a sale of boneless pork loin: $5 off. Though not on my list, I got one anyway with future meals in mind. For $11, I got 4 pork roast dinners!
That bathroom mirror is absolutely beautiful. My husband's grandpa worked as Levingtons yacht captain when his grandpa first came to America from Sweden.
Love the mirror and the bathroom update! I'm still preserving our garden harvests. We're having warm weather for October in WV and we're still getting cantaloupe and watermelon, as well as cucumbers and other veggies and fruits! We've been eating and sharing our melon with neighbors, but we have lots so I decided to dehydrate some of them and vac-seal for making kefir water this winter. I'm so glad to be able to preserve the melons this way and not allow them to waste! We are also harvesting our pickling cukes at gherkin stage and making refrigerator pickles! This past weekend we harvested our meat poultry for the freezer--chicken and turkey. Our son came for the weekend and helped and we shared chicken with him (and his older sister who had to work). I loaded him up with home-canned goods as well. We really appreciated his help. This coming weekend my husband is going to drive to his house (3 hours away) and help him start building a playroom in his basement for our grandkids. Turn about is fair play (pun intended...it's a play room). We also shared some of our laying hens with our son's family for eggs as they'd lost some of their layers over the last couple of years. I feel it's frugal to share back and forth with people....."things" or work. We also bartered with a neighbor for a trade....we traded a Black Stone grill (we didn't care for it) and a small fishing boat for firewood. During this transaction we shared melons with them and they shared some canning jars with us. Pretty awesome! God bless!
These are all wonderful things to do. Sadly where I am, in the uk, growing your own veggies etc isn’t a big thing really, not in comparison to grass and flowers… We have a large garden so have separated it to give us a veg garden and an area with fruit trees. I love it personally. Wish I could grow more and next year I hope too, had a lot of failures this year being the 2nd but 1 with lots. Hoping to get more berry bushes established this year so they fruit next hopefully.
I have that same trashcan in my car fits perfectly between the back seat and cup holder ,, yes good quality I also have a small swing top can in my bath room from dollar tree .
Oh and I got a bar stool for setting at the sink too peel tomatoes, and a screen door both for $5.00. Screen door for the green house I'm going too make.
Hi Emmy and Paul! Beautiful mirror! It is very very similar to the one in our guest bathroom that was here when we moved in. I’m sure this one was purchased at a big box store. It does make the room look bigger too! We have just been eating from our freezer and pantry. Especially the last week of ANY month, when our biggest bills are due. Tonight we are having Asian night as we often do on Sunday (my husband I have told you already is Thai and Asian food is our favorite)… Boneless chicken thighs/teriyaki (frozen thighs purchased on sale at Food Lion), Fried Rice and Won Tons/Making soup and doctoring it up, from Chinese we ordered last week (the one thing we do carry out)…. Yummy!!! Have a great week! Still hot and humid here in SC but we survived Hurricane Helene. Prayers for those who flooded and without power.💕😊🙏🏻🏝️
i have been looking for a comforter for my spare bedroom for a while now. I found a gray Target brand comforter at a thrift store for $7.50. Looks like new! It is reversible if I want to change the look to a white and gray pattern.
Another great video I skipped the bookstore for the new releases and have my name on the library back order. I’m busy doing fall projects before cold weather hits… it will be wonderful when the library calls on a cold morning and I will enjoy the new releases for free.
I've been participating in Shelftember and eating from my pantry. I finally used the ham bone from (?) and made ham bone vegetable soup since I'm not a big split pea fan. I had the opportunity to work from home yesterday due to the tropical storm force winds and saved gas $. I'm looking forward to Crocktober and will be making at least one crockpot recipe per week. I live alone so I portion meals out and freeze them for another month or to share with Dad when I see him.
This past week I did a serious food inventory of our freezers and pantry and was able to plan out 90% of our October evening meals with what I already have. London Broil is our favorite cut of meat for the crockpot. We love to use some of the leftovers for open faced roast beef sandwiches or if we’re feeling fancy, French dips. Knowing we will be spending less on food for October, we’re planning a day trip to Ohio’s Amish country to stock up on bulk supplies and cheese, cheese and more cheese. 😊
I've been saving veggie scraps and chicken bones in the freezer. Yesterday I made 6 cups of broth. It's only the second time I've done this. So yummy for gravy and low, low sodium 😋 I never would have thought to center the mirror on the wall versus over the sink. It looks really nice 😊
My husband had some set backs with his garden this year and we didn't think we would get anything. This month, to save money, we harvested and preserved whatever we could this late in the growing season.
I have a raised bed garden. I have been freezing my romaine tomatoes as I harvest them and I now have about 7 gallon freezer bags! The other day I thawed two bags out, slipped them out of their skins and made tomato sauce to put in the freezer. Freezing them whole means I can process them whenever I want and never waste any! I’m also chopping onion and peppers from my garden for the freezer.
When I est out, then am going to do something else,( dr apt. Grand kid sports ect.) I bring a med.size lunch cooler with the reuseable ice blocks,I put my leftover in the cooker tommsrrowsblunch or dinner stsys cool, once home ,I transfer to my fridge.😊
Emmy! I’ve started saving my chicken bones and leftover veggies so I can make you own bone broth! I also made chicken and vegetable soup with veggies left over from a roast we had. I was able freeze half of it for another day. THANK YOU so much for all of your tips! 😁
I'm about too get 2 rotisserie chickens for around $11.00 my cousin is picking me up some too make up meals and bone broth with the bones and veggie peels. I can my broths and she freezes them. And will make home made egg noodles from Brown eggs I get at $2.50 a dozen. Amish eggs. Plus I bought a pair camo winter coveralls. I got them for $5.00 but I will have too replace the zipper. Its better too change too a metal zipper. They last longer.
I found a cute pattern to crochet witches hats for Halloween. Got to looking in my yarn stash, and I had all the colors I needed to make them. Four down, four to go!!
Nice mirror. I have an unframed oval mirror lengthwise in my half bath directly over my sink. I have a silver wrought iron rectangle framed horizontal wise mirror in my hallway. Also have a thick wooden framed rectangle mirror horizontal wise in my living room over my couch. Mirrors are nice to have as decor.
I saved money not not purchasing a bird figurine subscription. I love birds, cardinals are not favorite, and the figurine was a cardinal, but I thought hard about it and decided not to start!
This week, I saved anywhere from $904-2900 (Canadian). Since I will be having 2 cataract surgeries, I needed to preorder my lenses. I opted for the free ones offered by our health care system. after, I made the decision, I was told I made an excellent choice. I asked what the difference was between the three other lenses and was told “nothing, just the way they were marketed.” also this week, I had two left over chicken thighs, so I made a pot of soup. I froze enough for two bowls for later on, and we will be having the other two bowls for lunch. I always enjoy your videos.
I did the same as you, just getting the basic lens.I did this after the surgeon said many people who get the corrective expensive lenses still need glasses!I saved $11,000. The surgery was easy an my results were spectacular. I was worried but seriously the surgery is just like seeing a bright light and they give you enough medicine that you are relaxed. Just be sure to do the after surgery eye drops EXACTLY as they tell you. You will do great!
@@happycook6737 I have heard of some people paying over $9 K for their lenses. I also read on the options I had been given that glasses were often still required. My doctor said that they will test my eyes again after surgeries but I will probably only need dollar store reading glasses. I will follow the instructions for sure.
I was blessed this month with 2 dz. farm fresh eggs and home grown tomatos. I boiled a dozen eggs and ate for breakfast and on salads. The tomatos were a tastsy fresh vegetable side. Have been cooking more at home as restaurants are expensive and only for specia loccasions now. 😊
This week, i finished the last of my jars of Italian Seasoning, Taco Seasoning, AND my McCormick:s Salad Supreme! Rather than purchase new of each, googled how to make up myself. Turns out I had every single spice/herb needed. Yay me! Every bit helps. Also, a couple of weeks ago, the heating element in our dishwasher broke. Luckily, i remembered how to wash dishes by hand 😊. Tho its now fixed, still going to lessen its use; with that and trying to reduce use of my clothes dryer, curious to see how much my electric bill comes down.
🙏Prayers that your Little House is safe from Hurricane Helene Another fun video! Yes, great lifetime tip in saving money is taking time in shopping for big ticket items AND having any work done around the home/car!
I used an app and earned cash back on gas and at the hardware store. I needed batteries for my smoke detectors and I got 17% cash back. That was great bc I needed six 9 volt batteries. Today I picked up the weekly specials at the grocery store.
I have advice that will definitely curtail overspending at dollar tree. Only buy things that are American made or can’t be found somewhere else made by a better option. 90% of dollar tree stuff is made in China. I will buy if it’s Japanese or another country but I try my best to avoid Chinese products. I’m not perfect but I try. Plus read labels, it might shock you!! Also slows you down a little so your brain catches up and says, “Hey wait a minute, that’s not what I want!”
I'm surprised at the amount of food that comes from China. I don't want food from China. America is a big country and we should be growing our own food. I know Chinese things are cheap but most are poorly made and they are really polluting the environment. It's better to get things from thrift shops if possible since America hardly makes anything anymore.
We have a salvage grocer about a half hour from us. We visit monthly to stock up. You never know exactly what brands they'll have but you can count on coffee, fresh produce, condiments, vitamins, etc. at crazy low prices.
I like to give myself a budget if I go into DT. Sometimes $10 or $20 with at least a list of a few things I need. Now dollar general is my Kryptonite. May I also recommend that you paint the front of the outlet covers - they would blend in nicely.
Hi Emmy, re stickers, paper, seasonal tags, etc. At our Value Village, they sell prefilled bags that are clear (so you can see thru) just packed for like $3. I love your program and your ideas. They are right up my alley. I am fairly new to your program, or any program on You Tube for that matter. I did not realize these programs even existed until I bought a Roku device. Since right before retiring a few years ago, I began primarily cooking most meals at home and from scratch for myself and my husband. I've had a garden for years and learned how to can or freeze my veggies. More recently I'm learning a lot about better ways to preserve food for the long haul. I've been researching which food saver to buy but none have excellent reviews. Just wondering what type you use. Thank you for your programs. I love how your husband is involved in them as well. God bless you too.
I saved money by making a pineapple upside down cake, using a pineapple which needed using up! I had a yellow cake mix,and am on a no egg diet (plant based for health reasons) so I made a flax egg substitute using ground flax meal and water, for 3 eggs. Worked perfectly! I used some dates syrup I had on hand because I was not going to go to the grocery store for brown sugar! I added some pecans to the topping/pineapple base. It was a huge hit and so easy. I was so inspired by your “be a blessing” video! I used up 5 green bell peppers and made a nice vegetable dish using your method and adding all the garbanzo beans I had in the fridge. We ate that with a baked potato, and side salad. We are cooking much more at home. I love your videos!

I had been looking at getting a food saver but resisted impulse buying and was going to wait for a sale. Next day my mom informs me of a food saver at an estate sale. I got it for $10!
YAY! Love that so much! You will adore it!
I am keeping an eye out for one at Goodwill.
I've cut back on going grocery shopping by not going...and that is how I've saved alot by not doing it...😊😊😊
Every single time I cut down on grocery shopping by not going, it surprises me just how long the foodstuffs I already have last!
Wonderful! Just don't ever let your food supply get too low.
@@FrugalMoneySaver honestly I don't think I'm capable of that!
That’s how I do it 😊
I took advantage of a coupon deal for 5 bratwurst for 99 cents from my local gas station grocery store.. then made a huge pot of Sausage and Vegetable soup.
WOW! That's so great!
What a deal! I think whole chickens are one of the best values out there!
God bless you. I too had 3 boys. They are now 29, 31, and 34. All athletes and boy could they eat. I know it is harder in today’s economy. 💕🙏🏻😊
We went to a thrift store and I found a piece of pottery by a man that I collect. It was a chip and dip bowl in perfect condition. He wanted $90 on his shop but I only paid $28. Score! He is a Missourian artist so I always check the thrift stores here in KC for pieces.
Oh, that's wonderful!
BRILLIANT! Good for you!
Hello to you both! ❤
I just wanted to share that I bought the American woman’s cookbook at a flea market for a dollar!!👏🏻👏🏻
I was so excited I just had to share!
Thanks guys, you’re the best!
YAY! Dawn, that's wonderful! Just be cautious of some of the older recipes. The don't always follow our modern food safety standards of today!
I have had a real old recipes and they don't show how long the food cooks or temperature@@FrugalMoneySaver
YAY! Love that Stephanie! What fun!
That blouse looks beautiful on you! Love that blue… ❤
So kind, Lisa! Thank you!
YES! How beautiful it must look!
For $2.50 I am very entertained and coming as close to the bootcamp experience as a frugal person can get 😄
The Culinary Institute in Hyde Park is not far from us! What a wonderful find on that book!
@@FrugalMoneySaver It’s a great place to visit. We went there for my 60th birthday dinner - so good!
I like those flip flops! Also, I needed shoes for a wedding and found some at a consignment store for only 4$!
Score! That's amazing!
A coworker of mine had an overabundance of small eggplants and a ton of green tomatoes. I took a few and made fried green tomatoes and I'll be making eggplant parm this weekend. Best thing is I'll be using pasta and sauce that I got on sale earlier this year.
Wonderful! So yummy too!
When I was young that instant pot was called a pressure cooker!
That’s exactly what the Instant Pot is - an electric pressure cooker. I found it fun to adapt recipes from older pressure cooking cookbooks, like Miss Vicki’s Big Book of Pressure Cooking Recipes. 👩🍳
YEP!!!! 👍🏿
SCORE! Good for you!
I hung our laundry out every single load. The drop in our power bill was AMAZING!!!!! I have purchased a little toaster oven too and use that instead of turning the oven on. 220 volt appliances will wreak havoc on your power consumption.
Way to go, Tammy!
Thank you for reminding us to be patient vs impulse buying, which I need to practice.. Congratulations on the mirror & light switches!
Thanks so much, Juanita!
Those are some wonderful prices!
I like that you ask thought provoking questions at the end. They make me realize that I did or didn't do something frugal recently. My cat and her visiting friend love the water from my canned tuna and sardines so instead of throwing it down the drain they get to enjoy it as they do every time.
I bet they do love it!
Oh yes, tuna juice! My cat doesn't like most human food but he loves his tuna water. It's very kind of your kitty to share with her friend, too. 😊
That's an amazing price!
Great deal!
I like to give myself a budget if I go into DT. Sometimes $10 or $20 with at least a list of a few things I need. Now dollar general is my Kryptonite.
@@karlinebohne789lol... Dear departed hubby used to call our Dollar Tree the Twenty Dollar Tree. If he knew how much I spend there now he'd be calling it the Hundred Dollar Tree!
May God greatly bless you too. 😊
Love the mirror. I go to thrift shops all the time.
Thanks, Katie!
YES! So glad you didn't fall for that! Good for you!
Just got back from the thrift store in my town. Spent $4 on 3 books. Friday is 1/2 off book day!! YAY! It helps me keep my little library stocked for fall. Have a wonderful week end, bet the colors in your area are stunning!
They are not too vibrant yet. We haven't had our first cold snap yet.
My want is a weaving loom. That way I can use up all my old shirts and t-shirts for rag rugs. I even used my grandmother's saved funeral ribbons for 3 rugs. And endless uses for it .
Betty, that's a wonderful want!
YAY! Good for you, Nyssa! So smart!
Good thinking!
I try to buy items for several uses...i.e. a small meatloaf can give several different meals without being "tired" of it. A tablecloth turned into a curtain...its really fun to do this.
It's so creative too, Toni!
Yes! Thank you!
YES! I made Mac and cheese in it the other day! Effortless!
We have been looking for flooring for our new house and got a great deal by one of my wife's coworkers whose husband owns a flooring company. Also we get to pay it off in 12 months interest free. $2000 for flooring for almost 900sq ft of course we are installing ourselves and picking up.
That's so great!!
Happy Friday everyone
Happy Friday to you too! x
Happy Saturday lol!
I hope you & Paul are doing well! We all need to treat ourselves now and then! Sale items? Even better! ❤
Absolutely, Chris! Thanks for being here!
I was at Costco last week & stumbled on a sale of boneless pork loin: $5 off. Though not on my list, I got one anyway with future meals in mind. For $11, I got 4 pork roast dinners!
YAY! That's the way to do it!
That bathroom mirror is absolutely beautiful. My husband's grandpa worked as Levingtons yacht captain when his grandpa first came to America from Sweden.
Oh how amazing! Thanks for sharing that!
That mirror is beautiful!!! And I do have to say again that I think the color of the toilet and sink are so pretty
So kind, thank you!
God bless!
Very Awesome! Thanks for taking the time encourage us all!
These are all wonderful things to do. Sadly where I am, in the uk, growing your own veggies etc isn’t a big thing really, not in comparison to grass and flowers…
We have a large garden so have separated it to give us a veg garden and an area with fruit trees. I love it personally. Wish I could grow more and next year I hope too, had a lot of failures this year being the 2nd but 1 with lots.
Hoping to get more berry bushes established this year so they fruit next hopefully.
I have that same trashcan for my downstairs bathroom.
Me too.
I have that same trashcan in my car fits perfectly between the back seat and cup holder ,, yes good quality
I also have a small swing top can in my bath room from dollar tree .
Oh and I got a bar stool for setting at the sink too peel tomatoes, and a screen door both for $5.00. Screen door for the green house I'm going too make.
Betty, that's great!
You have a beautiful kitchen that wood is so rich looking
So kind, thank you!
Tonight we are having Asian night as we often do on Sunday (my husband I have told you already is Thai and Asian food is our favorite)…
Boneless chicken thighs/teriyaki (frozen thighs purchased on sale at Food Lion), Fried Rice and Won Tons/Making soup and doctoring it up, from Chinese we ordered last week (the one thing we do carry out)…. Yummy!!!
Have a great week! Still hot and humid here in SC but we survived Hurricane Helene. Prayers for those who flooded and without power.💕😊🙏🏻🏝️
Yes, we have been praying for all those infected! Just heartbreaking!
i have been looking for a comforter for my spare bedroom for a while now. I found a gray Target brand comforter at a thrift store for $7.50. Looks like new! It is reversible if I want to change the look to a white and gray pattern.
Perfect! Great price!
I am working on emptying my freezer. I have a pork loin thawing to roast tomorrow.
The mirror is beautiful!
And your budget meal, Delicious
Thanks, Lynn!

I skipped the bookstore for the new releases and have my name on the library back order.
I’m busy doing fall projects before cold weather hits… it will be wonderful when the library calls on a cold morning and I will enjoy the new releases for free.
That's great!

Yes, it sure did, Brenda! Thank you!
Your New mirror compliments your powder room beautifully 😊

I've been participating in Shelftember and eating from my pantry. I finally used the ham bone from (?) and made ham bone vegetable soup since I'm not a big split pea fan. I had the opportunity to work from home yesterday due to the tropical storm force winds and saved gas $. I'm looking forward to Crocktober and will be making at least one crockpot recipe per week. I live alone so I portion meals out and freeze them for another month or to share with Dad when I see him.
Crocktober-- Hmm that has a ring to it. Maybe I will try it.
So frugal and tasty! Good for you!
I chose to not go to the store for a few extra days and make do with what we already had.
Lori, that's great! Just don't let your food supply get too low.
I have those exact same flip flops! Love them!❤
Aren't they great, Julie!
LOL! YES! Love us some cheese too!
I've been saving veggie scraps and chicken bones in the freezer. Yesterday I made 6 cups of broth. It's only the second time I've done this. So yummy for gravy and low, low sodium 😋
I never would have thought to center the mirror on the wall versus over the sink. It looks really nice 😊
Robin, good for you! Thanks so much!
Love love that mirror!
Thanks, Deb!
My husband had some set backs with his garden this year and we didn't think we would get anything. This month, to save money, we harvested and preserved whatever we could this late in the growing season.
That's great!
Wonderful, Lori!
I actually liked the beige coller outlet plates
When I est out, then am going to do something else,( dr apt. Grand kid sports ect.) I bring a med.size lunch cooler with the reuseable ice blocks,I put my leftover in the cooker tommsrrowsblunch or dinner stsys cool, once home ,I transfer to my fridge.😊
That's a great idea!
Im on a buy no clothes stint until at least January and will only buy then if necessary.
That's great, Angela!
Emmy! I’ve started saving my chicken bones and leftover veggies so I can make you own bone broth! I also made chicken and vegetable soup with veggies left over from a roast we had. I was able freeze half of it for another day. THANK YOU so much for all of your tips! 😁
YAY! Love that!
Betty, those are some great deals!
I found a cute pattern to crochet witches hats for Halloween. Got to looking in my yarn stash, and I had all the colors I needed to make them. Four down, four to go!!
Wonderful!!
Sounds great! Yes, very nice decor!
I saved money not not purchasing a bird figurine subscription. I love birds, cardinals are not favorite, and the figurine was a cardinal, but I thought hard about it and decided not to start!
Beth, that's great!
Congrats on the eye surgery! I had mine down a couple years ago in Alberta. where were yours done?
WOW! What savings! Prayers for a successful and uneventful surgery!
@@janejdough2230 My first surgery is being done in three weeks and the second one will be about a month later. Mine is being done in British Columbia.
That is awesome! Good for you!
Always have a list and budget amount. Take cash
Smart, Dolores!
Wonderful clever ideas! Good for you!

You are encouraged g buying the stuff!
I love the Stormville Airport Flea Market!! Nice find.
So fun! Thanks!
I used an app and earned cash back on gas and at the hardware store. I needed batteries for my smoke detectors and I got 17% cash back. That was great bc I needed six 9 volt batteries. Today I picked up the weekly specials at the grocery store.
Wonderful!
Yes! I agree with buying American made and avoiding Chinese products. Thanks!
We have a salvage grocer about a half hour from us. We visit monthly to stock up. You never know exactly what brands they'll have but you can count on coffee, fresh produce, condiments, vitamins, etc. at crazy low prices.

Welcome! So happy you found us! We use an older model of the original FoodSaver.

All good stuff. Nice! Thanks much 🎉🎉❤
Thank you, Barbara!
So kind of you to say! So glad they are helpful! You did great too!
