I absolutely love caiques. So sad birds are a lot of work 😢
They are so much work 😅
If you don't mind your house getting trashed,,, it's not that much work.
@@zanottma it's actually a lot of work to keep a bird healthy and happy. Fresh fruit and vegetables daily, a clean cage, toys for them to shred so they don't get bored, plenty of time out of the cage, and so on. If you plan to keep them locked in their cage the rest of their life where they self mutilate and are miserable, then yeah, it's easy. But people shouldn't get a bird if they aren't going to care for it properly.
@@lilkoa6188 Whoa ! Little birdie ! I was being sarcastic...Everything you say is True. Actually my Tuco has 2 cages, one at home, one in my barn. The cage in the barn is taken to various locations in the yard to amuse him. If not for the local predaceous critters, I'd have him on my shoulder all the time. I take him for drives whenever I can. We watch a fair number of bird videos together.... And yes, he shreds,,,,, everything. His toys, my toys if I'm not paying attention, molding, furniture, shoes, documents,,, nothing is safe........ I appreciate your concern, though.... Thank You.
por schelep I apologize, it’s hard to tell the tone from a comment. Lots of people don’t do research before getting a bird and then they sit in their cage for the rest of their lives and then it’s upsetting to me when people say it’s easy. I’m glad to hear you have happy birds.

CUTE
Planning to get a caique, but have a question, what to do with all the poop everywhere, can they be potty-trained??? :-D What to do with that problem??
Did you get a Caique since your posting?..... I've 'potty trained'(to some extent) my 15 year old, to 'go on "demand"'(to some extent). Sometimes I have to coax him with my 'potty dance',,,,, try not to visualize. It usually works,,,, usually. The bigger concern is that, as much fun as they are, they're quick tempered and somewhat vicious with that beak. Don't let that discourage you, but there is a learning curve to that. Even with the occasional bloody finger, I would change nothing.
Must see movie "Paulie" from 1998. Its about a parrot
Are you sure he knows he is a bird. He sure does love rubbing around on the floor.
Caiques rub themselves against things or people they like, they also rub against things they think smell good.
fun fact he took the visa card in vid to buy new cage
😍😄😍😁😊😍
How does owning a caique compare to owning say a high energy dog? I have a cockatiel that I hand reared and so far, it’s been very rewarding and hasn’t taken up too much time, especially now that he/she is weaned. They’re perfectly happy to just chill with me all day when I’m working. But dogs are louder, messier, bigger and require a lot of attention and space to exercise yet I’ve heard all of those reasons used as reasons not to get a caique. I’m only wondering why they’re not more popular as pets, they just seem like flying puppies to me. You’ll have to excuse my ignorance on this, I’ve only kept budgies and a cockatiel and I appreciate caiques are different but are there any major drawbacks I’m missing?
Hi! I've never owned a dog so I unfortunately cant compare caiques to dogs, but caiques are very difficult and because of that, they're re-homed and abandoned a lot. Caiques wont just sit in one place while you do things, they constantly have to be monitored and played with or they're getting into trouble. Caiques need lots of exercise and stimulation because they get bored and distracted easily. I'm lucky if something keeps her attention for 5 minutes. I think they're not as popular because those of us who have them try to talk people out of getting them. There are plenty of days I want to throw in the towel and re-home my bird because it's not easy. As I typed this message, I had to stop koa from chewing off the keys on the keyboard, I moved her to the window, then to sit on my computer, then took her to the bathroom. Caiques do better when there are two of them, but I cant imagine the chaos of two hyper parrots. They are fun and silly and people love them, but I don't like recommending them as pets unless you have the time to give them lots of attention. I spend 4-5 hours a day giving her undivided attention and if there's a day that I cant give her that, she's angry and grumpy the next day. She also only eats fruits and vegetables which makes her diet expensive. I spend about $15 a week on fresh fruits and vegetables and cut them up every night for the next day. They shouldn't eat seeds and nuts too often or it attributes to bad behavior. I only give a few sunflower seeds as rewards and she only gets about a tablespoon of seeds as a special tread once a month. If you're thinking about getting one, do lots and lots of research. I wish I had talked to other caique owners before I got koa because I probably would have picked a different breed if someone told me the truth about how hard they are. Even my mom says that children are easier than having this bird. I'm almost 30 and haven't had kids yet because this bird is so high maintenance, the thought of having kids and a bird at the same time is so stressful! Anyways, I hope this helps to give you an idea of how they are. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have.
@@lilkoa6188 thank you so much for taking the time to write that, that’s so helpful!

Infantile music ruined the video
Considering that I have less than 150 subscribers and can't afford to pay for a large variety of music, I think it's a half decent song for the type of content I'm producing. It's meant to be playful.
@@lilkoa6188 thats a valid reason :)
