      {cookiemonster} Stu:Dio Hispanic is not a race. I’m Hispanic by ethnicity, but my race is white because I descend from Spaniards, whom are whites. I suppose the type you are describing are the ones that look like Mario Lopez and George Lopez. Those people’s race is called mestizo, which is a mixed race between White and Native American. So I think you really meant “what about mestizo?”.

    • @antisocialA
      @antisocialA 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      El Matador Goerge Lopez and Mario are both mixed with black also which is why there considered more as a Latino than Hispanic........There both mixed the same goes for Jennifer Lopez the bitch ain't get an ass from those Hispanics .......Im so glad that you are educated cause most people swear that Hispanic is a race when in fact they were just white people with georgous hair .............

    • @IslenoGutierrez

      trinity Dowling Hispanics were originally Spaniards and Portuguese for thousands of years. The US made up this make believe “Hispanic” race in the 1970’s they use for mixed race mestizos, mulattoes and triracials from Latin America. Jennifer Lopez is triracial white, Native American and black, but she is European dominant. Both Mario Lopez and George Lopez are European dominant mestizos (European/Amerindian mixed race). George has only like 4% black and he is mostly like a mix of white and Native American. Mario Lopez, I recall was white and Native American. Most Latin Americans in the US seem to be European dominant mixed race people. In Latin America, most seem to be either white (mainly in South America) or mestizo (white/Native American mixed race).
      Originally, Latinos were Europeans. First, they were central Italians, but then became mainly Southern Europeans from Spain, Portugal, Italy as well as the French and Romanians.
      But in the US, the words Hispanic and Latino, which are European identities that belong to whites have been incorrectly used to refer to Latin Americans of any race, many times excluding the real Hispanics (Spaniards and Portuguese) and real Latinos (Italians, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Romanians).

      White isn’t a real word, neither is black. The term White only came to existence because black people were introduced to society as slaves, before that white was a meaningless statement. What are you Irish? Are you German? Are you English? And same with the term black, are you Bantu? Are you Zulu? Are you Nigerian? Are you Jamaican? These colored terms are shit labels given to us by our corporate masters who want to label their consumers like cattle.

      Pat Pearce white people scalped more natives than the other way around. Y’all would scalp the Native Americans and sell their hair and most likely getting paid more if they have evidence on killing them. We couldn’t even vote until 1924, forced sterilization on Native Women until the 1990’s. In Alaska we were only given 10% of our land and let’s not forget that we are the biggest state in America, Native Americans were forced off their own land that was given to them by the government. And the government is literally throwing waste on the little land they have left. Also, we have the highest police brutality than any other race today, our women are being murdered and have gone missing. And here no one bats an eye, this has been our land for 10,000’s and Thousands of years.

  • @mikeholden1682
    @mikeholden1682 9 ปีที่แล้ว +901

    I'm Black. When I was younger, I went to a predominantly Black school in a more rougher area of my state. I never really thought much of race, mostly because I was younger and it never really popped into my head that much. My parents raised me to be a respectable, law-abiding, and nice person. So I spoke proper, didn't use any slang, and had a strong moral code. Because of that, a lot of the black kids around me who either weren't raised as such or just didn't care, always called me "White". I got called White for following the rules, reading at my grade level, and doing my work.
    Then I went to a more predominantly white school in the seventh grade in a nicer area of the state. I had a lot of white friends, but not very many black friends. A lot of the black kids in that school were acting up, causing trouble, blah blah blah. Now of course there were the fair share of white kids acting up, but it wasn't as much of the white populous as it was the black. However, there were significantly less black students than white at my school. There were black students that weren't causing trouble like the others were. But by the populous that regularly acted up, didn't do their work, and spoke with slang, I still got called white. Then some of the white kids would say "Wow, you're really nice for a black guy" or "You talk really well/white". After a while, I started to go along with it and I'd introduce myself as a an "oreo" or a "really white black guy".
    It wasn't until I got into college that I realized, after a talk with my dad, how messed up that joke was. Basically, the entire premise behind it was that black people were the ones causing trouble, not doing work, and being bad, while white people were the exact opposite. And because of that, any black kid that did their work, spoke properly, didn't listen to rap, and didn't cause any trouble, was white, and vice versa. I realized that joke was stupid and it perpetuated a stereotype that needs to be stomped out, or at least people need to realize that not all black people are trouble-makers or slang-talkers. It can be really easy to think that because those are the ones more predominantly shown in the media, but honestly, if white people were shown to be acting up on a more regular basis *like* a few unfortunate members of my race were, then people would be more likely to think that toward white people.
    Basically, what I'm saying is that if you refer to yourself as a "White-black person" because you're nice, upstanding member of society that does their work and doesn't cause trouble, that's not right. Even if it is a joke. Because all you're doing is just furthering the stigma that all black people are the trouble-makers you sometimes see on the television. There are black people that do so much good for society, and there are black people that don't. There are white people that do so much good for society, and there are white people that don't. Every race has their own group of people that don't do right and act foolish. That doesn't mean we should let that group define an entire race, even if you do happen to see them on the news committing crimes more than another. Just because a few black and white people run gangs and talk like they're idiots, that doesn't mean that's what the entire race stands for and that *definitely* doesn't mean that's what the entire, or even a majority, of that race is like. This extends to *all* races, not just whites and blacks. You should not define an entire race just because certain people do or have done certain things. Slavery does not give any black person an excuse to be cruel or unfair to a white person *unless that white person has taken you as their slave right here, right now.* Just because yes, a vast majority of white people *back a long time ago* were slave masters, slave owners, or just flat-out agreed with slavery, doesn't by any means mean that all white people back then *and* today are like that.
    All that matters is you figure out who *you* are. Not this stigma of "Black people are ghetto" or "White people are stuck-up and boring". Just do you, and look back on great leaders of our respective races that pushed for rights, equality, and progression. That's what it means to be a certain race.

    • @mikeholden1682
      @mikeholden1682 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      ***** Well that's a little rude. All I want to do is understand your side of the argument and how you think it relates to what I'm saying.
      I mean, I understand what you're saying and to an extent, I do agree. For years, some people have placed such an importance on race that it has become like a hierarchy in a sense. The higher up on the race chain you are, the more regarded you are.

    • @mikeholden1682
      @mikeholden1682 9 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Nightmare Miura That was also a little rude. You assume that just because I haven't subscribed to a Black youtuber that I'm not Black? Besides, I am actually subscribed to at least two Black TH-camrs that I can recall right now, one being KSI and the other being Tyrone Magnus. Did you look through my *entire* sublist before making that argument?
      And even if I weren't subscribed to a Black youtuber, how does that in any way make me a liar? I could link you to my actual Facebook, if you wish. Or my other TH-cam channel that I made a video on with myself in it. I'm sure that would enough proof to suffice. Also, I'm into anime and games, yes, but I am not into furries. And if your comeback to this is something rude and childish like you just started off with, you've already lost the chance to have any meaning to your argument.
      If you wanna come at me with something, come at me like an adult, unless you want to be like the other person that I argued with in this comment thread.

    • @mikeholden1682
      @mikeholden1682 9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Nightmare Miura I never posted any actual real information pertaining to myself, besides the fact that I have a Facebook. But a lot of people have one, so really you could just look up my or anyone else's name and find one.
      Now, I never claimed to be disliked by the entire African American race. Just the few that had skewed perceptions of the world and wanted to keep me down. But every race has members like that. It doesn't mean those few people are the definition for the entire race, and I never said or implied that they were. I'm well aware that the some of the Black kids I went to school with that wanted to bring me down to their level didn't like me for my personality as well as my education. But what I'm saying is after a while, I decided I didn't need their approval, because they were what the African Americans weren't about. It's the upstanding ones like Martin Luther King Jr, Maya Angelou, and James Armistead, and even some of the Black heroes alive today that are what our race should be about. Progression.
      And as if your arguments weren't long themselves.

      The message I got from it was: White people should not be ashamed of being white or feel offended by white privilege, but they should realize that white privilege does exist, largely because of our complicated history with race in America. White people, along with everyone else, should not be afraid to talk about race, and should try to ensure that as a society we are treating everyone equally and fairly. It's fine to feel a certain way but before believing things based on our own feelings or experiences alone, we should do our homework and see if the facts match our feelings, correcting ourselves if needed. Lastly, the US is a melting pot and has had many different waves of immigrants and will continue see more. We should all be welcoming and respectful of each other and try to put ourselves in each other's shoes.

      It will be a better world if people start caring less about race, ethnicity and nationalism. Nothing wrong with being proud of it but realize we all are human first. I think white people get way more shit for racism and all than others. People of other nationality and ethnicities are actually way more conservative and holds biases towards their own race, religion, region and are very proud, showoffs and certainly un/knowingly more racist compare to average white american. But such hypocrites can never see it and accuses others for the same. Although America is white majority country but with time it's white population is only decreasing and in world whites are already a minority compare to other major races/ethnicity. America is biggest melting pot of different races and cultures of the world while most other major countries are highly conservative. In the end Human race is what we are!

    The Scholarship girl is a great representation for many of comments below
    She believed she was being penalized for her race based mostly on the fact she didn't get what she wanted.
    Then when the facts were given to her about how scholarships really work, she suddenly was the victim and felt attacked.
    Basically some people aren't even capable of talking about race without getting defensive and playing the woe is me game. Hell, this documentary was created to give white people a voice on the issue of race, and many folks still got defensive and felt attacked. Not to be mean, but many of you wouldn't last a week in the average minority shoes with that kinda mindset.

      TheDalinkwent spawktalk.blogspot.com/2015/07/do-universities-discriminate-against.html
      Many people believe that universities discriminate against white people in admissions and in the giving of grants. According to the MTV documentary “White People” this is false. According to MTV, whites are actually 40% more likely to get a private scholarship than non whites are and this refutes the idea that universities discriminate against white people. In this post I will show that MTV presented information dishonestly in their documentary and that the very study they cite actually shows that white people are discriminated against in the grant giving process. Then I will review the academic literature showing that even greater discrimination against white people exists in the admissions processes of elite America colleges.
      MTV bases its claim off of the paper “The Distribution of Grants and Scholarships by Race“ by Mark Kantrowitz. In this paper Kantrowitz looked at the proportion of different kinds of grants given to a nationally representative sample of 214,000 American college students between the years 2003 and 2008. As MTV reported, the analysis showed that Whites are more likely than non Whites to be given a private scholarship. What MTV did not report, however, was that the average private scholarship given to a minority student was 18% larger than the average private scholarship given to a white student. More importantly, MTV ignored the data from the same paper on all grants, rather than just private scholarships, which showed that non whites are roughly 10% more likely than whites to be given a grant. Clearly then, MTV cherry picked data from the study that supported their narrative and ignored results of the very same paper that contradicted it.
      Curiously absent from MTV's coverage is any mention of discrimination in the college admissions process. Many colleges put a premium on Black and Hispanic students such that they are more likely to be admitted to the university than an equally, or even more, qualified white student. In fact, a recent survey of 338 American universities showed that one in four colleges openly admit having such policies. These effects are the most extreme among highly selective colleges. This isn't surprising since, by definition, non selective colleges admit almost anyone. One recent survey of officials from 68 highly selective colleges found that “ membership in an under-represented group” tied with “exceptional talent” as the top pick for what makes a student “fit” their university.
      The best work on this subject was carried out in 2004 by the Princeton sociologist Thomas Espenshade. Espenshade's study utilized data on 124,374 applicants to 10 of the most selective universities in the whole country. He found that if you control for differences in SAT scores, whether or not applicants had alumni in their family, and whether or not they were involved in college athletics, black applicants were 5.2 times more likely than white applicants to be admitted. Hispanics were 3.5 more likely than white students to be admitted and Asians were 0.7 times as likely. Similarly, a recent report from the Association of American Medical Colleges found that if you look at students who apply to American medical schools with MCAT scores of 26-24 (a bad score) and GPAs between 3.2 an 3.39 Blacks were over 7 times more likely than Whites to be admitted while Hispanics were 3.7 times more likely to be admitted. The reason that MTV chose to ignore this literature is obvious. It clearly demonstrates beyond any reasonable doubt that there is severe discrimination against Whites (and Asians) in elite academic institutions.
      One effect of this pro Black discrimination is that Blacks can get degrees without being as smart as the White people who get the very same degrees. This was demonstrated in 1992 by the Department of Education's National Survey of Adult Literacy. The NSAL interviewed a nationally representative sample of nearly 14,000 Americans and tested their ability to read, understand documents, and use math in practical everyday scenarios. The test of mathematical skills is the most revealing: the NSAL found that Blacks in graduate school scored, on average, in-between Whites who never went to college and Whites who went to college but never received a 2 year degree. Blacks with a 4 year degree scored the same as Whites who never went to college at all.
      One obvious consequence of this is that it means that if you compare blacks and whites with the same qualifications on paper the white individual will tend to be significantly more competent than the black individual. This may be why, as liberals so often like to point out, if you have whites and blacks apply for a job with identical resumes white applicants are usually preferred over black ones. Thus, it may indeed be racism that explains the results of these experiments. Only that racism might be anti-White.
      MTV's attempt to deny that universities discriminate against White people was pathetic. It is the only kind of anti White discrimination that everyone knows about and their own sources clearly showed that it was real. They cherry picked numbers and lied hoping that no one would notice. In so doing MTV has demonstrated for us another prevalent form of anti White racism: the media is constantly trying to push the false narrative that society is structured in such a way that Whites are illegitimately more successful than non Whites and, as a result, White people owe something (or everything) to non Whites. The fact that they have to result to blatant lies to prop up this narrative is telling. The narrative is bullshit and the harder they push it the more obvious that becomes.

      @TheDalinkwent 9 ปีที่แล้ว +101

      TSwiftfan88 Sigh...the point was the girl was whining that she felt slighted because she didn't get any scholarships and that minorities had a advantage and yet data proves white people are 40% more likely to get scholarships than minorities.
      Now you're saying its because they work harder than blacks, which you have no way of knowing besides pulling it directly out of your ass.
      Whats so goddamn frustrating about reading comments like yours is folks of your ilk are quick to dismiss any type of racial bias, but then will spew racist bullshit as a argument. Unless you've personally witnessed the work ethnic of every white and black student in the nation then you couldn't possibly know why whites are more likely to get scholarships than blacks.

Please show me the section for just white people??? If white people have an advantage then clearly there must be a section just for white people.

    A scarily significant number of people are missing the point of this documentary. It's not meant to shame white people or make us feel guilty for being born white. The point of this documentary is to highlight the significant differences between being white in America vs being a person of color in America. If watching this documentary made you feel angry or guilty or shameful, then dig real deep and ask yourself why that is. Because unless you've thought or done something worth being ashamed of, the volatile reaction you're having isn't normal. Acknowledging that we benefit from white privilege doesn't mean people want us to "take responsibility" for things like slavery. It means acknowledging that the system our society was built upon unfairly benefits white people more than people of color. Collectively, no matter what race you are, we should make an effort to change that injustice.

    • @nokorihi
      @nokorihi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +66

      ***** Because a lot of white people do live in their own little bubble. It wasn't until my college years that I even realized that most of my friends, acquaintances, etc. are also white. There's never really a "token white friend," so to speak. We live in a society where a lot of people, either consciously or subconsciously, view being white as the default, so they never question why it is that they don't have many or any friends of different races. Again, it's nothing you should be ashamed of unless you are actively and purposefully avoiding any sort of relationships with POC. It's just another one of those things we should take the time to discuss and think about why it's more likely to encounter a white person who only has a handful of friends outside of their race while someone whose not white has plenty of white friends - sometimes more than people who are of the same race as them.

    • @nokorihi
      @nokorihi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      *****
      Why are you so fixated with black people? They aren't the only minority, yet every example you've given is "black people" this and "black people" that. Additionally, a black person doesn't have to live in "inner city areas" to have a majority of friends who are also black.
      Again, there's nothing shameful about someone admitting they don't have a lot of friends outside of their race - to say that they live in a "bubble." But it's important to think about why that may be. It could be because they live in an area where there aren't a lot of other races; therefore, it's within reason that most of their friends are the same race as them. But if that's not the case, then asking why their group of friends is only or mostly one race is an important question. And like I said, this seems to occur more frequently with white people.
      If you're offended by that, then I don't know what to say. No one is trying to offend you. And honestly, no one is saying anything offensive. They're just speaking up on how this society works. You can't just be "offended" by something because talking about it happens to make you feel uncomfortable or guilty.

      Kind of like US media. Why doesn't Whiteywood ever hire an actual Native American or Asian American in their movies as lead actors? If a demographic of people feel like they are being neglected to be integrated into "white" culture then of course those people will lash out. They're blamed if they do and blamed if they don't assimilate. Movies like Last of the Mohicans and Last Samurai were both played by white men as lead actors in movies not even about cultures where they needed white actors. It's the equivalent of seeing an Asian man in Braveheart as the lead actor and then to have that movie being taken serious as Scottish culture. If white people are unaware of what is going on, then integration is utterly futile. I fear the worst as media has become even more polarized with less diversity instead of more inclusion since the 1980s until today.

      +Tha Realest Not exactly an effective argument, but I will say that the whole "cultural appropriation" thing infuriates me as well. To tell people that they cannot participate in the cultures and traditions of other races, ethnic groups, and nationalities is segregation. In this idea's essence, it suggests that people of different race should draw dividing lines between themselves, and see their differences as irreconcilable. Hitler shared this idea. The Confederacy shared this idea. Isis shares this idea. It is revoltingly racist at its very rotting core. All cultures, all traditions, and all peoples are beauteous in nature and we should embrace them if we so desire because at our cores, we are all human, no matter how we label each other, and these ideas, these cultures and these traditions do not and can never belong to any single group, for they have all come from one place. The mind. They are part of a collective human bank of ideologies which has its origin in the brilliant mind.

      Just to correct a few things, minorities do NOT get more privileges than the wealthy. Hence why we're the minorities. According to this documentary, we DON'T get free college tuition. And being on public assistance is not anything good to look forward to. Majority of the people on public assistance are on it because they HAVE to and genuinely need the help. Nobody WANTS to be on public assistance. When you get it, it limits the jobs you can get and apply for, resulting in people staying on it for years with no way to get off of it. And as for the jobs, we definitely do not get handouts. We apply and go on interviews just like everyone else but due to the fact that we are minorities, we don't get it. Here's a fun fact... did you know that if two people were to hand in the same resume with the same exact experience and credentials but were signed with "white" and "black" names... the "white" name would be more likely considered for an interview?
      So don't sit here and say that minorities get jobs handed down to them when there are 15,16, and 17 year olds out here looking for work so they can save up for college (because after all.... we learned they're less likely to get scholarships) and even adults with great resumes who won't even be considered just soley based off their skin color.

      Aziz J Dumbest thing I've seen on here. If you are black you are, no words. Did you know the national housing association created laws that ensured Black people no matter how much money they had, had to live in poor neighborhoods, or people in poverty, which created 'ghettos'. Decreasing the property value of those black peoples homes, decreasing wealth and generational wealth to give to there kids,while white peoples homes gained property value and they made more money from this allowing them better opportunities? The whole thing is rigged and it only add unnecessary blame on black people who were the actual victims of a system. Do you want me to provide evidence? Because I feel it would do you one better if you actually looked it up. Now black people have to face people with thousands of dollars in head starts on disproportianatelly unlevel playing to where its nearly impossible to bridge the economic gap. You cant seriously be black and if you are dont ever speak for the culture again. The effects of slavery and self hatred that accompanied it always surprises me. It runs deep.

    It's sad, tragic in fact, that so many people spit on this dream today.

So why do they always quote that part of the speech as if they are somehow trying to teach the world to check the person content of character! This behavior to me is very insulting.

      Like he even says this in the quote saying that skin colour and so on is due to numerous factors like climate, which would directly affect your DNA structure. That is why whites became white, due to them living in a colder climate and needing to absorb more vitamin D in colder climates and blacks being darker to regulate that, being in a warmer climate. Due to this, strong differences can be seen in the DNA and is why, scientifically, not all humans are the same. Also, Lexy he doesn't work closely with DNA often, he is a Mechanical Engineer.

The eugenics shit is bullshit, and white people only use it to make themselves feel better about all the pain and suffering and hate they have caused for themselves via the exploitation of others. when african nations get their reparations then white people might not be so hated in the world. I think most minorities can agree that we don't want you to feel guilt (unless you are racist), we want you to empathize with us or at least understand there is a gap in treatment and strive or at least hope for a change. Wight Power There have been multiple amendments to that act. Most specifically, the 14th amendment, which was implanted right after the civil war. This granted citizenship to people born within the United States and subject to its jurisdiction regardless of their parents' race, citizenship, or place of birth.
      Native Americans weren't enclosed in this amendment but two years later that was changed.
      There have been many other changes throughout the years including granting Pacific Islanders citizenship, and in 1952 when the Immigration and Nationality Act was passed, making it legal to come to America no matter your race or sex. Sure, it was edited substantially in 1965, but it was not implanted in 1965.
      (Also, the laws were changed all the way back in 1795 when the time was increased from 2 years to 5 years. So don't act like the laws were never changed).

Everyone blames whites for everything, yet at the same time expects whites to fix everyone else's problems, like they're entitled to our help. Fuck that. However, if I were to speak back to them in the same tone, they would see me as extremely rude and condescending. There is clearly a double standard there. What these people fail to realize is that I am just as American and just as human as they are and that not all minorities are non-english speaking immigrants.
    The sad fact is: Many white people (especially in america) will never know how minorities feel when faced with subtle racism in their everyday lives.

      Black students get into college with way lower SAT scores on average (than white people and ESPECIALLY Asian students who need almost 450 points more on average) and get acholarships just for being minorities. White people get more scholarships in general bc white people tend to perform better in school. There are many reasons for this, and it does not mean it's bc of racism or that black people are inherently less intelligent. There are reasons why, such as poverty and many others, but I can't list them all here. Actually research this. There's a very poor portrayal of information in thia stupid documentary.

      Anyway, my point is that it's not always a racial bias thing, and that issues concerning race should be critically analyzed because they ARE important. Anymore it's just the majority populations fault, a conclusion arrived at without any sort of critical inspection. This is very easily evidenced by the "Sokal Squared" research paper hoax perpetuated by James Lindsay, Peter Boghossian, and Helen Pluckrose. If you publish a paper called "Rape Culture and Queer Performativity at Urban Dog Parks in Portland Oregon"....There's a problem there.

    Generally speaking, the problem with non-white people talking about "white people" is that they tend to assume there's some broad homogenous identity we ALL cling to. I think many of you non-caucasians are thinking of the classic W.A.S.P. (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant). This implies a distinct Central European heritage/allegiance.
    Technically speaking, many Arabs are "white" (though primarily phenotypically, not culturally)... Also, many Hispanics and similar groups (i.e. 19-20% of Mexicans) also fall under the legal (for documentation) and physical (phenotypic) category of "white".
    Much of the REAL difference is in cultural values and heritage. It is unfortunate that many of the Caucasians they interviewed here are either 1. Camera shy, or 2. Woefully uninformed of their own national heritage and background.

      TH-cam is owned by racists, so of course they're not going to let anyone talk badly about their people.
      TH-cam has been censoring everything to protect their snowflakes fragile egos.

    If you're going to make a documentary about race, you should probably refer to Native Americans as natives, not Indians. Just sayin.

      Most white Americans are Saxon or Anglo-Saxon.

    • @leobat7007

      Well, yeah, but "native american" means "born in America". One can be of russian or anglosaxon descent and still be born in America.
      The use of the expression "native american" to designate specifically those whose ancestors were in America before its discovery by europeans, is arbitrary and implies that some american citizens have a stronger entitlement to the american land.

    This is clearly an American hang up. If you judge any person based on any other criteria than whether they are a kind, respectful & decent human being then you are none of those things. People are *individuals,* not groups to be labelled & judged.

      I always find it ironic when people on social media claim to hate individualism but they have their entire life story in their bios.

      Jon Smithy I get that I'm privileged but white people are really uncomfortable about racial issues. I think we need to learn to be part of the discussion, a lot more progress would happen, I think.

    SHOCKED that all those white people said they were completely comfortable talking to people of other races. I mean be honest. I’m white and I’m always a little uncomfortable talking to other races because I’m always afraid of accidentally saying something ignorant or offensive. And I’m painfully aware that I have privilege that they don’t, so like, there’s always an subconscious discomfort there. Just admit that every race’s experience is different.
