Hey, just for the next time you need to read a spanish name, amontillado is pronounced “ah-MON-tee-YAH-doe” because a double “l” makes a y-like sound. (At least most the time, Language gonna language) :)
Five minutes in and I'm already rethinking how I prep for my own adventures. I've known about the concept of dramatic questions for a while, but literally the idea of having each one printed out for each scene so I can keep myself centred on it never occured to me. Simple but brilliant!
I love Kelsey/AL's adventures! I've run a number as one-shots or short adventures. The simple design--with single-page locations and "Dramatic Question" > "Transition"--really lend themselves toward GM ease-of-use, allowing me to focus on the players/NPCs/narration without getting bogged down in the content. I highly recommend them to GMs--tinfoil theories aside!
There are two Shadowdark connections you mentioned without realizing it, since they come from the Cursed Scroll zines. One being the Wickerman, who is a Warlock patron from Cursed Scroll 1: Diablerie. He's described as "A ghostly, elongated being who stalks misty forests and watches from the edge of nightmares. He wants fear." The second is the Ras-Godai, which is a sorcerous assassin character class from Cursed Scroll 2: Red Sands. I really hope you notice and talk about these connections in your video about the zines, and I wonder if there are any other small connections like these that you possibly didn't even think to mention since you hadn't read the Cursed Scrolls yet to know about them.
I own a couple of her adventures (Watchers in the Dark + Snow Stalker) which I have used to seed my sandbox game. Haven't gotten a chance to run any of them yet, but even just reading through them I was so thoroughly impressed with their design. This entire video is basically an unpaid ad for them, but that's because they really are that good. Highly highly recommend
Was thinking about Kelsey's 5e adventures while watching your last video! I'd recommend the Cursed Scroll Zines if you haven't read them already. The Curse of Wardenwood and Monastery of the Shadow Sorcerers both take place in locations detailed in the first 2 Cursed Scroll Zines. One minor reference I noticed is that the magic weapon the Scimitar of the Ash Moon in the Shadowdark rulebook is essentially a vorpal sword described as a curved blade with a snarling efreeti head on the pommel, this is presumably the same vorpal scimitar wielded by Pasha Baltazar of the Ash Moon, an efreet enemy in the Flames of Iskh adventure!
I was thinking about how much these adventures appeal to my DM style and just general interests, and how much I want to run one. Turns out I have (Secrets of Skyhorn Lighthouse), and it was awesome. Love the Eelfolk so much, I steal them for basically every adventure. I think I’ll have to pick up some of these adventures, build up a nice stockpile of one shots to run.
Good job highlighting an amazing series of adventures! I had a chance to be helping run a video interview (tech side) panel on which Kelsey was on. So creative and a lovely person to boot! :)
I love the Arcane Library adventures and I’ve run a few of them already. I can easily add more details, change some, find what’s needed and adapt it to my campaign.
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but when you mentioned the rat pirate in "Ghostlight", my first thought was of Reepicheep from the Narnia stories - OK, so Reepicheep was a mouse, but nevertheless...
Just a heads up annihilation is based on a book of the same name that starts the southern reach trilogy which was inspired by house of leaves. Also, the play that makes people mad is probably a reference to the king in yellow.
It’s an independent TTRPG, with some similarities to D&D 5e and some similarities to older editions of the game (and other indie games). I discuss it more in these videos: th-cam.com/video/mn94DAIxO9A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OdJy7sQWckWZZzoh th-cam.com/video/8HYgwW9VZeg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Vl93QO6heSDJEKW6

Wardenwood is a location in Shadowdark Cursed Scroll Zine Vol. 1: Diablerie!
Ras-Godai is a class in Shadowdark Cursed Scroll Zine 2: Red Sands

Really liked this. I think a "demystified" series about these adventures would be cool
I have a friend who DMs D&D and loves Poe, I have to find out if she knows about Masque of the Worms! ❤
I’ve run it, it was the only one shot I ever completed in one shot lol. Great adventure.
Okay, this is your best thumbnail ever! I have finally subscribed.
That's a suspiciously good tinfoil hat.
I’m appreciating having access to good vibes a little extra today
😁
just got into shadowdark.perfect timing
This feels like a good answer to Matt Colville's recent video about adventure length vs campaign length. Consider me sold on the pirate stuff!
The tinfoil hat is beautiful 😂

Mike alluded to it, but The Horror Within seems to be a reference to Hastur, the King in Yellow. Kelsey is obviously well read.
All I could think this whole video was "The Arcane Library Cinematic Universe"
My current PF2e character is a Ratfolk Swashbuckler. Can't disagree with you about how cool a rat pirate is.
Those adventures do sound amazing.
It's all coming together now.
And all thanks to the neuromancers from Alpha centauri!
Very stylish hat, Mike
Thank you!
Very cool! thanks for the review
I'm running Cursed Scroll 1 and I wish I'd realized that there was an entire adventure module about Wardenwood already!

This is a good channel. I like Mike.
You are hyping me way the fuck up for Shadowdark, Mike STOP IT I DONT HAVE THE TIME
Wish he would go back to this...
I love Tinfoil Mike, he speaks a lot of sense!
God dammit, Mike. Now I have to buy all of them! :D
Oh no...Mike is starting to get to the lack of sleep conspiracy theory stage. ;)
I hope Kelsey by now has had a chance to see this video 😄
Bad hat. Shiny side out! boo hiss.
The shiny side does belong on the outside, to deflect incoming brain control signals. 😂
Maybe he's just trying to keep his own thoughts from floating out?
@@LostWhits Good one.
What's shadowdark ?
