- Trying to illustrate the basics of the STOP! Low Oil Pressure VW light. Common on FSI engines. This tutorial (if you can call it that) is on a 2007 Passat BPY 2.0T.
Coles notes- don't believe every post on the net that tells you the oil pump/balance assembly is not working and you car is going to die immediately. I did, and now I have a spare oil pump...
This is what you would describe as amateur video, it was cold, not enough light and not enough hands to do everything.. Gives you a whole new respect for AutoDoc VW tutorials... Hope this helps somebody.
I came here owning a B8 2.0T TFSI in a 2011 Q5. I bought a new pressure switch, and a gauge to test the pressure before taking the oil pan off to check the pump. This is a great video!
Dude…MASSIVELY helpful. Thank you. I’m about to pull mine and check pressure with a gauge. I had my oil pickup screen cleaned last year, so I don’t think it’s clogged. I’m just a little worried the pump or balance shafts are failing. Again, thanks.
Instablaster.
Thank you, very helpful video! 😊
Well done! Maybe add some tripod shots?
Thank you for this information. My low oil pressure warning light has been going off for a very long time in my ‘07 Passat. I wanted to ask you if replacing this part would be possible from under the car after removing the belly pan?
I don't think that it would be any easier. I'm sure it could be done either way. Good luck!
Could you post how you got the oil switch back in? Did you use the same skewer to the new switch to get it started?
Sure. That was the easy part. There is a groove I point out in the vid that guides you in. I can't remember what size deep socket, but I'm pretty sure it's a metric spark plug socket (deep socket) with a 6+ inch extension. It is a pretty easy install.
How much did the NPT thingy cost?
I made it out of parts from the plumbing section st home depot, most of it came with the gauge kit. Wasn't much.
One time I was get warning light "low oil pressure" and never back after stop my vw
I hope it is oil pressure sensor:)
Location is sucks
Keep an eye on it. If it happens when on longer gradual deceleration it's likely the sensor.
hey, hope your Passat still alive. was getting the oil pressure warning to for like 6months witch turn out to be my PVC valve, try that first. have a video on it
@@Marlon_39 was it intermittent?
@@uppi66 yes it was intermittent with no drivable issues
@@Marlon_39 damn I found this comment after 300 videos and 1000 forum reads. Is this real? I changed pcv , but before it i changed alot of things like cam chain , spark plugs , n205 ,n80 , thermostat. But after pcv i got low oil.pressure light , i fuckin shit myself. Mechanic told me its pump, got new pump . 300km after again light. Today got sensor . And i thought about pcv , because before pcv change it was all good.
my VW passat b6 1.9 tdi wont start(Q: did it start for you before changing the sensor?), it says OIL PRESSURE but my oil levels are fine. i think its because of that sensor. and the car is parked in my dark garage, this is going to be painful :(
I don't understand why some people think because their oil levels are fine means everything is OK. Pressure and levels are two different things! If you had a faulty pressure sensor or pressure switch, worn engine components, or faulty oil pump you could have low or no oil pressure regardless of oil level being fine.
What size socket did you use?
24mm I think...
what brand is the piece
Not sure. Was a generic. From our autoparts place in canada, Partsource.
