  • In this video I replace a clutch in a Kubota B2150 Tractor. It's pretty much the same procedure for all the other brand tractors. I used the GoPro chest mount for the first time to make this video. It made it sound like I'm breathing very hard , Since the camera is so close.

    I replaced the clutch on a similar compact tractor several years ago, working by myself. Some advice: remove all attachments, including the front loader, to ease the job of separating and mating the two halves. Work on a concrete floor. Never rely on any type of hydraulic jack to support either half for any length of time. Instead, support one half with jack stands and keep it from shifting with wheel chocks, and custom build a wooden dolly with heavy casters to support the other half and allow it to be easily shifted around for the mating process. Having help naturally makes it easier, but you want those two heavy pieces to be aligned as precisely as possible.

    I am in the middle of a clutch replacement on my tractor. Not a professional, but I have been doing this type of work on trucks, motorcycles, and sports cars my entire life.
    First tractor repair video I have watched and it was honestly very hard to watch because it was on the verge of being really good. The camera work and "narration" were in and out. I saw bolts, often didn't see where they came from or what they were attatched to. I can guess based on their size, etc. But then I am having to rely on my own knowledge and make guestimates. The narration could have helped but you would go silent ironically when the camera was smashed against a tire or facing the ground, leaving me guessing as to what happened.
    I wouldn't have commented but I just spent 45min watching a video in order to help me fix a tractor that I need running on my farm now, 45min that could have been condensed into a 14min video tops, or you could have just set the camera on a stand at least I could see where you have your arms when the pneumatic tools are running.
    You seem very knowledgeable and on the cusp of making a video that I would have paid money to watch.
    I do not know how to use youtube and send this in a private message, my apologies that it is on the public comment. Please fill free to delete, if you can, after you have read it. And I only even took the time to send you this comment so that if you do a video like this again I will get access to your knowledge and skill.
    Thank you honestly for putting content out there.

      @1970chevelle396  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I showed every detail of this job the video would be like 10 hours long. I was only showing the technical part. Only thing I recommend is if there is any attachments on it like a box scraper remove it before you start working on it. It leaked down on me and made it hard to roll the two halves of the tractor apart.

    How much to you tighten the pressure plate bolts? I found a spec (23-27nm) for my l2950 but it compresses the pressure plate and closes the gap. Is that supposed to happen? I should’ve looked before I pulled it apart to see if there was a gap between the pressure plate and the clutch housing but I can’t remember.

    I have a tractor very similar to that one. Its making a noise (sounds like its coming underneath the steering wheel) when i run the pto with the rototiller. I watched ur video to see if i could see how that is setup on that tractor. Is there bearings in that assembly that could go bad over time or is it the clutch u think? Very informative vid by the way. Thank u

    • @1970chevelle396
      @1970chevelle396  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s two clutch discs in there. The one farthest away from the flywheel drives the PTO. If the noise is coming from under the steering column it could be bad. Or the bearing in the transmission for the PTO, the one closest to the clutch could be bad.

  • @timschad5810

    On my Kioti LK3054 the throw-out bearing carrier is somehow spinning out of the channel where the linkage fork fits into it, to depress the throw-out bearing. We were able to spin it back into place on the fork and it had pushed the throw-out bearing forward perfectly when the tractor wasn't running , we attributed it to 25 years of wear w no maintenance from the previous owner so we adjusted the pedal linkage a little bit so the linkage kept just a little tension on the assembly when the pedel was not depressed. So we thought we got lucky but as soon as we started the tractor up and went to push in the pedal to put it into gear the carrier spun off the fork linkage again. Anyone have any suggestions ?

    • @1970chevelle396
      @1970chevelle396  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s hard to say without seeing it. The clutch fork might be worn out.

    • @timschad5810
      @timschad5810 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does the clutch fork typically hold the throw out bearing carrier in place? Or is it used only to push the throw out bearing carrier forward. If the fork typically holds the carrier in place then I'm wondering if we should have adjusted the fork linkage a little tighter /putting more tension on the bearing carrier to keep it in place?

    • @1970chevelle396
      @1970chevelle396  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim Schad Yes the clutch fork normally holds the throw out beating carrier in place., some of them have clips that hold the two together.

    • @timschad5810
      @timschad5810 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1970chevelle396 Thanks for all your help w this and your quick replies. Your 1st assessment was 100% right. I believe the knubs on the fork that are what held the carrier in place are worn out so the carrier spins up out of the forks. Gonna try to tac a little weld in there to hold it in place for now to finish up the season and get us through till winter. hits. Then it looks like we'll be splitting the tractor and giving the old girl an overhaul. Thanks again ...super kind of you !!!
