Newer guitar player with a few guitars (2 Strats & a Les Paul). I kept bouncing between them chasing certain tones. Last few months, I settled on sticking with one of my Strats to really get familiar with it and learn the nuances of the different sounds I can make with it. This was the perfect video lesson for that, as I kind of stumbled on a few of the tips here by myself, but your video helped me discover new tones and solidify the purpose of the tweaks I discovered myself. Thank you for the great lesson that will hopefully curb my GAS for just a little while longer 😂

I've seen Santana constantly working his knobs. I have a couple of Strats and love the 4 position on the pickups, sometimes the middle. Rarely on the 1 or 2 unless I want that "La Bamba" sound. Until now. I've placed the volume on high and control the actual volume on the amp. I didn't look at the volume as more gain, just a fuller sound. Thanks for teaching these things.

I have a les Paul jr. Epiphone and it's the only Les Paul style guitar that I have and when the volume is low with no effects at all it's nice and clean you just turn it up a little bit and you get Distortion it's pretty awesome it's got a humbucker in that's the only guitar I have with a humbucker in it so I don't have a lot of experience with humbuckers but that's what happens you don't even need a effects all you need to do is turn up the volume and you get distortion and it's nice it's really works well I love this guitar
Likewise! I have an LP Jr., and I learned more about tone control on that single pickup guitar than any other I've owned. When You can't just flick a switch to another pickup, you really pay attention to what you've got.
That's why Jeff Beck and Robin Trower went from Gibson to Fender strat 🎸 🎵🎶 to get more expression in playing

I am a fairly inactive member of GMM, I drive OTR commercial truck, so my excuse at the end of 10-14+ hour day is, " I'm to tired to practice/play" - that may be the worst excuse, I know, I just wanted to say, Eddie Hadad, you are my favorite "teacher/mentor" - I have dozens of your instructional lessons, tips, hacks, and very helpful videos downloaded, and I promise, when I pull my head out of myself, I'll put something out there.
Hey Eddie, what are your thoughts on using a volume pedal to slowly increase the sound instead of the volume knob? I think that the pedal would be easier if you don't want to fumble around too much with the knobs on the guitar.
Eddie, here's a suggestion. Get out one of those Epis (like I have) with the push-pull knobs, and do a slant on this presentation again demonstrating those.

depends on your pedals too some clean really well on any guitar around 7 so the pedals make a difference too, ts9 clean up well and you get clean tone 6-7 depending on your pots

Thanks for the hacks. After many years I have finally acquired a Strat and a LP, so I am blessed with a lot of tone, but these hacks about tripled the amount of tones.

When I say “I want to get another guitar”, it’s because I have a problem. I am always one guitar short of the perfect amount.
One guitar short of the perfect NUMBER of guitars... not the amount of guitars. If you can count them it is number if you cant then it is amount. The amount of knowledge you have because you can't count knowledge in numbers.

Eddie have you tried a bleeder circuit on the volume to boost the mids at lower volume?

Oh yea, I'm a beloved strat guy, father of 3. I love the 2nd position (Middle and bridge) for Sweet home Abalamba tone. Just back off the volume a little.

Doesn't traditional Strat wiring have no tone control for the bridge pickup?
Yes I think you are right. I wire my strats so the neck and bridge have the tone control and the centre has none. 🎸
I thought on a Strat that the Tone know "Furthest away" controlled the middle PUP... I know this because Eric Johnson wires his Strats where the that Furthest away know controls the Bridge PUP..

Problem i have on my strat is that the tone gets muddy when i roll down the volume, i know some people fit a treble bleed to get round this, but heard that some people don't like it.
Turn the tone up a little 👍.
I don't use the whammy bar because there's so much I can do with the volume and tone knobs.

Hey all experienced guitar players. I as a beginner cant understand one thing. Why is "sound from electric guitar" som important to you? I mean, you change the output with effects, distortion etc anyway. I understand that accoustic guitars sound different because of the wood and string but why is so much commotion around electric guitars when you always "destroy" its raw sound into anything you like? Hopy you understand my point :D

"Five hacks" , you know , for those who kinda do not know like what 5 is , you know, he holds up you know like five fingers . And you know they are not "hacks" you know , they you know are like normal functions of you know the instrument . A hack is kinda like you know the opposite : you know like using a product you know in a kinda like different way you know , than intended like , you know .
