    This man is truly a joy. It’s a pity he does not get the recognition that Bob Ross does because Bill is the original master. What a beautiful person.

      Jeremy Davia he doesn’t get the recognition because he is nothing like Bob, two completely different personalities. The public obviously preferred Bob, and his more soothing and caring personality than Will. It is the way the world works. Neither of them invented this technique, neither of them did anything unique In Painting, but Bob was different in that he was calming and soothing and that attracted viewers, 90% of the viewers watching Bob tuned in to watch bob, and not paint along, that’s a fact you can look up. But I doubt you do any research before you speak.

      he came with the skill and not the personality. Bob had something special that others didn’t have.

      Michael actually he got a lot of recognition including an Emmy. I remember him well from my youth and I loved watching him before Bob learned from him.
      Bill’s personality was fiery, energized and warm and Bob’s was soothing and warm. I like the saying “Bill in the morning and Bob at bedtime.”
      For Bill too there was a barrier where language was concerned. His English was excellent but his accent was heavy. Whether we like it or not there is a prejudice in our country with certain accents and a tendency to gravitate to those who speak the way we do. It was difficult to get ahead as a popular, public personality with a heavy German (in his case Prussian) accent. Even now I see comments everywhere that mock Bill’s accent to one degree or another. I personally love it but there are many who would likely never give him a chance.

    "I can handle mistakes...Let me make the mistakes, so that you don't have to".
    The generosity of this man is overwhelming. In life in general, one day, you get to the point where you can handle making mistakes freely and not caring, you have it made my friend. Life lessons learned, in painting classes.

      Joe Jusko and so was Bob. Bill, even though he taught Bob, was then jealous of his success. That, in my opinion, makes Bob better because he was never jealous of anybody and also painted in such a happy manner.

    • @TheChristianNomad
      @TheChristianNomad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bob Ross was actually a master painter in traditional art. He just didn't enjoy it. But wet on wet gave Ross a sense of joy. And you have to remember Ross was also purposely using overly bright colors and simplified concepts so that beginners could follow along.
      I agree that wet on wet Alexander was better than Ross, but Ross was a teacher, Alexander just wasn't a teacher.

    • @Ne012
      @Ne012 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah but you ain't doing no Albert Beirstadt painting in a 30 minute show. The cool thing about Bill and Bob's technique is you can add as much or as little detail as you want. You can make it super realistic like Albert but you will be putting many days into or you can get a damn good landscape in 30 minutes.

    I think Bob Ross is more like a perfectionist. But the mountain he painted. Its like real, am i right? Bravo Bill.

      Not surprised about Bob being a perfectionist as he [supposedly?] was difficult to work with

    Bill definitely brings a different personality than Bob Ross. Bill is more lively while Bob is more quiet. I like bob if I need to relive stress but I can watch Bill as well. Bob I guess you can day is the mini-me on Bill. They motivate me to learn painting.

    I’m just now reading more about where Ross learned his skill and I think I scarcely remember seeing Alexander before. I read he and Ross eventually had a falling out which his a shame because both are important, whereas Ross seemed to connect better with the audience in his style. Alexander falsely claimed he “invented” this technique of oil painting but he didn’t, although he did kind of develop the happy painting idea. But Ross took it and developed it further, simplifying it into a cultural phenomenon.
    Alexander might’ve even been a better artist but Ross developed the language of this kind of painting and probably just never cared enough to develop it past television. There’s more to life than painting alone

    I actually watched Alexander more than Ross because I watched this sort of thing more when I was a kid, and I was already a young adult by the time Ross came on.
