I flew on a very special Boeing 777 from Doha en route to the Maldives.
Qatar Airways has leased a handful of planes from Cathay Pacific, resulting in a hybrid First Class cabin, of which we were the only occupants on this four-hour overnight journey.

How’d you upgrade to First Class? Going to Maldives in a few months on business class tix via Qatar and they just switched our DOH-MLE leg to one of these planes. Biz class seats look nice but might as well go for it!

That must have been a great trip combining QR service with CX hardware. I visited Maldives just before QR started using the CX aircrafts.
Please consider fixing the graph showing offer history in your credit card page on your blog. It cuts off and doesn't show the full vertical bar so we can't tell what the highest offer was since it's way above and hidden.

In the early 2000's Cathay Pacific served caviar together with Balik smoked salmon the same plate in First Class.

Great video and review. But I think it would really help to show the menus! Both in the Lounges, and the flight.
Did you book your QR Qsuites flight and QR-CX F flight under a single PNR or two PNRs? If the latter, I was wondering if QR made it convenient for your transit in Doha? I find the entry requirements to Qatar rather confusing -- and I'm not keen on entering the country in the near future, but transiting in Al Safwa looks great, as in the before times.

Great video, how many hours would you recommend for the lounge? We are flying through later this year and debating if I should change the flights to give us more time. Currently have a 3hr layover in Doha
3 hours is good to enjoy it - more wouldn't hurt either 😉

I’ve seen from Flightradar that they have painted these leased planes to a simplified Qatar livery. You can actually see one parked up at 7:12 in this video👍🏼

Very nice video. Are these originally first-class seats at Cathay? I've flown Q-suite and these look like the Q-suite seats without the extra privacy, don't you think? And yes Al-Safwa lounge is amazing, I wish I had more time to kill over there.
Is the aircraft livery still Cathay Pacific? Or has it been repainted to Qatar?
Repainted to Qatar, but not the full livery with the grey strip. Just the word "Qatar" in maroon and the tailfin.

Hate to say it but you got punked on that 1st class flight. The seats in the Cathay pacific first class on those planes are a joke… I hope Qatar can do something to make it up for you.
It was actually a great seat
