When I was younger I used to be addicted to trains, especially old steam locomotives like this one. Video like this are nice to watch when I need a nostalgia rush.
Seeing the 765 emerge from White Haven Tunnel reminds me of videos from the '80s and '90s when she emerged from Stretchers Neck Tunnel in Prince, West Virginia on the New River Train. In fact, when I asked him what he thought of the Lehigh Gorge route during the layover on Sunday, the 23rd of August, Rich Melvin said it felt kinda like a scaled-down version of the New River Gorge.
The "thumbs up" button does not do these videos justice. I wish it were back to the star rating so I could truly give this and many more of (yours) and other videos the rating they deserve. Without a doubt, you continue to produce 5 star videos, Penn Rail. Keep up the fantastic work! -Dane
Awesome videos. I had the pleasure of taking some high quality pictures as it rolled from Buffalo to Corning. Too bad the last two runs were cancelled. Love that train.
Great video! Thanks for sharing it with us! It's not often we see a American train with so many long cars. I guess she didn't really get to ,open up on this run. Great video, great train!
I was on it. It was a one time excursion, well there were two, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. 765 only ran public excursions on NS in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Only 611 ran on NS in 2016 and 2017 and NS stopped the 21st Century steam program after 2015, but allowed two more years of 611 excursions. 765 and 611 now operate excursions on other railroads but use NS to get to other railroads. You can ride behind 2102 on Reading and Northern again like from Reading to Jim Thorpe.
This is hands down my favorite video from the event.
