Oh yeah. Growing up outside Toronto as a teenager in the 80s was amazing - we had constant access to so many amazing bands. I never missed Rush when they came thru town, every entire summer loaded with shows at the old Ontario Place Forum, Maple Leaf Gardens and the Kingswood Music Theatre at Canada's Wonderland. Great, great years.
Spellbound, Follow Your Heart, Time Goes By, Midsummer’s Daydream.. in fact the whole Thunder Seven album is fantastic. Tears In The Rain, Suitcase Blues, Lay It On The Line, …. Canada for the win again 😄
My favorite band when I was 18. Love it, I saw Triumph twice growing up. They had one of the best light shows in the arena that I remember. Their self-titled initial album was a hit, and 5 albums later was Allied Forces that they skyrocketed off of. Great band live, even better studio.
You may not believe this but I talk to Gil Moore regularly as I'm at his school Metal Works on Mavis in Mississauga, On. They are down to earth great guys! They have many hits and have many more great tunes, one of my favourite bands!
Was at this show and they killed it best band there , and there were big names there , they were one of the first bands to perform as you can still see daylight,
Please consider supporting Triumph by watching their new Documentary "Triumph Rock and Roll Machine" from the same film company that has worked with Rush and lots of other Legends. It will be the best $5 to 6 US Dollars you'll ever spend, guaranteed!! I've already seen it 3X in consecutive days because I was a huge Triumph Head in high school especially, and got to meet all three in '86 while representing MCA LABEL as their youngest intern ever. A dream come true in itself. Just got so lucky that Triumph happened to be on MCA at time, which was a lucky coincidence, (Rik was my guitar idol because of his broad range, playing anything from classical, Metal, Rock to flamingo, while I was in my room after school learning one song after another on my Les Paul(one of last ones made in Kalamazoo, Mi just prior to moving to Nashville😂). They put on a clinic for all bands at The US FESTIVAL('83)because their set was flawless!! Well done film with stories galore. It's a prescription for 90 minutes of happiness with the memories to follow
Gil does a kick ass "when the lights go down" from this show. Last number of the set and then fight the good fight is the encore. Amazing live set from them.
High School, this lived on my car stereo along with Rush, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Black Sabbath, and many more, etc.., also had the LP at home!!!

I remember it well! I was a junior in high school, and you said it it was so long ago, but it seemed like just yesterday and you’re right everybody was happy having a great time. It was such a great time to grow up. The 80s music.(rock) was is the best ever! so glad I grew up during this time. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Such a briliant band & damn Rik, Gil and Mike sound amazing... this whole US Festival performance from 83 is so good... thank you Steve Wozniak and the others responsible for that show for having the ability to get these brilliant live recordings that we can go back and enjoy...
It is great. They did have a few hits, but were really underrated overall. Agree as well, they were totally positive, as well as amazing musicians. Would so have loved to have been at this concert Unfortunately, never got to see them live 😞
AWESOME!! Been waiting on this one. Rik can play the microphone as well as he does the guitar 🎸 🎤 and how he can run around on stage with a double neck and play that flawless is amazing! Thanks Neighbor! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
This stands up as being one of the best recorded concerts ( especially sound quality) of all time - I've seen alot of footage from this festival, from different bands & its hard to believe its over 40 yrs old !
Triumph had quite a few hits, including Lay It On The Line, Fight The Good Fight, Allied Forces and Hold On in addition to Magic Power. However, their best song (IMO) is a very progressive song called Blinding Light Show/Moonchild. Amazing song, has a bit of a Rush mixed with Yes sound.
Spellbound, Follow Your Heart, Time Goes By, Killing Time, Little Boy Blues (the whole Thunder Seven album is fan-tas-tic !). Tears In The Rain, And what about Rik Emmet solo album Ipso Facto, it is excellent wall to wall.
Yeah, the calendar says that was a long time ago, but it sure doesn't feel like it. This was in high rotation on my local rock station at the time. Thanks for bringing up some nice memories!
I was so fortunate to have seen Triumph in 1984 in Kalamazoo Michigan. With 6 other top bands. Accept, Night Ranger, Motley Crue, Ratt, Quit Riot and Ozzy Osborne. Outdoors at Timber Ridge Ski resort.$20 for the whole event. 11 am to 7 pm. Triumph was the headliner. Those were the days
Another Canadian great❤🇨🇦 Rik Emmett has fantastic range and they had many hits Lay It On The Line Hold On Somebody's Out There Fight The Good Fight....just a few😊
Triumph was awesome. Saw them 2 times. They seemed to always be under the shadow of RUSH. Canadian trio...etc. But they were a unique band unto themselves. The album Thunder Seven is my fav.
I saw them live in the 80s and even after seeing hundreds of concerts since then they will always be my favorite live show! They were absolutely amazing! 🤙
Saw Triumph a bunch of times. Always great in concert. Bumped into Rik Emmett once in Yorkville about 10 min after I literally had Randy Bachman bump into me (they were doing some session together apparently)... and bumped into Mike Levine when a buddy and I went to 97 Rock in Buffalo (cross border concert shopping) to get tickets. Both Rik and Mike were awesome to meet.
I love this song so much, I do remember 1983! I saw Triumph for the first time in 1978 at a similar outdoor venue and was drinking from a wine skin just like the dude in the video lol. They had several hits here in Ontario, Canada and one of my very favourite songs is "Hold On". "The City" and "Rock 'N' Roll Machine" are great songs from the Rock & Roll Machine (1977) album.
Thanks so much for this reaction. You looked so happy watching/hearing this song. I was the one who requested this. Watching you react to my favorite Triumph song really made my Saturday! 😊😊
Fun fact: Triumph actually co-headlined some big outdoor shows with Journey this same year in 1983. This song, Magic Power, has been a lifelong soundtrack to many an early 80's music lover and Triumph fans. The power of music and what it means deep within your soul. Ticket sales on this day (Heavy Metal Day) were 375,000. Band lineup from opener to headliner were as follows: Quiet Riot Motley Crue Ozzy Osborne Judas Priest Triumph Scorpions Van Halen
Love this band!!! I have I think 17 CDs by them! I was 13 in 1983 lol!!! I think I just felt a wrinkle set in lol. This may be my favorite song they do (among many). Great reaction RED!!! Keep up the great entertainment!!! CHEERS!!! 🍻🤟👏
This song was my introduction to this band. As a young aspiring musician it supported the feeling I had about the magic of music and that I had that magic to give. Which brings up the question of how do you remember ‘83? I remember ‘83 but I’m old. I look old. You look so young and beautiful. I guess time works differently for different people. Keep sharing this magic young lady.. ✌️😉💕🌹
Great band and a great song! Yeah I'm sure those people remember that day still. I discovered them around 1985/86 on a weekly rock show that used to be on then and was bliss to a young teenager! They will always be synonymous to me for the memory of teenage years trawling record stores trying to find albums from "foreign" bands I'd heard on a rock radio station.
I am Canadian so I am yes a rush fan and also a Triumph fan. And I got a thing for power trios. Your Rush videos is where I found you. Now I watch all kinds of reaction videos on my favorite bands but the reactions are always for the Mega hits. I I'm a huge triumphant. I think one of the greatest songs is follow your heart. No one has ever done a reaction to that song. Foreigner a great band long long way from home is an amazing song no one has done a reaction to that. Reactionists need to go into the full catalog just like you did with Rush. Sure do enjoy your show thanks very much. PS if you're going to react to follow your heart live from Halifax Nova Scotia is a great version and I happen to be there for that one.
There Lyrics are always uplifting!! Some of there bigger songs were obviously Magic Power, Fight the Good Fight, World of Fantasy, Hold On, Lay it on the Line, Follow your Heart and Somebody's out there. There are a lot more I'm just naming some I would recommend you check out. I promise you won't be disappointed!!
Great and very short-lived, two great albums of the lead singer Rik Emmett went off to do his own thing. he taught music theory classes in college, went into sort of a jazz guitar duo called Strung-Out Troubadours which is great as well
Somebody's Out There was their highest charted single but I never heard it on the radio once in the KC market. Lay It On the Line, Fight the Good Fight, Hold On & Magic Power got the air time. But they always played the larger venue when they toured as a headliner.
Not to brag, but shortly after Rik Emmett left Triumph he released a solo album called “Absolutely“ and went on a club tour of the US in 1991 to support it. One of his stops was in my hometown of Westminster, California. The club where he was playing was a mere 20 minute drive from my place and I got to watch the man play from about 15 feet away. It was an amazing night and of course this song was included in the Setlist. I didn’t get to see the festival, but I got to see Rik Emmett’s nose hairs. 🤣
So, tonight I went down a youtube rabbithole and watched soooooo many of your videos. I think your presence is just amazing. The joy you get from hearing some of these oldies is apparent and infectious. The smiles and reactions are really refreshing. In addition to this video, I loved when you watched Rush;s Spirit of the Radio from SARSstock. Seeing your utter joy was wonderful. I have to say though, the most moving moment was when you were watching Rush's Limelight and the line "I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend" was sung. Lay it on the Line, Magic Power, Fight the Good Fight, Follow Your Heart, Rock 'N' Roll Machine, Allied Forces, Spellbound, Tears in the Rain, Blinding Light Show. You can't pick a bad song.
Another fabulously talented Canadian band. What's with Canada eh? .. they crank out great bands. Probably nothing else to do but play music, especially in the winter .. LOL Love Triumph .. hugely talented band!
Hiya Redheadedneibour. Try these Triumph songs, at the end of this comment, if you can find live videos (not the studio tracks), cuz these songs are sung by Gil Moore, the drummer! Yes the vocal duties are shared by Rik Emmett, the guitarist, and Gil. The majority are sung by Rik, just to be clear. And he sings background vocals in this video, but if you want to hear the true sound of Gil, check into these tracks. Even if you have to listen to the album versions, you'll hear the difference between the two. Anyway , the songs: I Live For The Weekend, I Can Survive, Fool For Your Love and American Girls, to name a few. Love your honest reactions. Cheers from the home of power trios, 🇨🇦!
Was 21 when this was recorded I want to go back the 60's I'm 62 suck nothing good has happened since I turned 60 2022 the 20's were tough hard but still better than now
I met this band after their very last concert at Kingswood, Canada's Wonderland in the late 80s - to celebrate their fans, they held a huge invite only BBQ after the show and my girl and I won passes. The band cruised around the BBQ and took time out to talk with all their fans and sign autographs, it was a blast, but bittersweet as it had been their last show as Triumph.
Imho, rick is the best combo singer/ guitarist in all of rock. fight the good fight same concert will knock your socks off, tid it after usa and England Canada as offered the most music to the world
Triumph, like Rush, delivered a splendid performance every time.
This music keeps me going and it’s never gonna stop! Rush and Triumph are Canada’s best!
These guy have amazing energy and indead they have a Magical Power, to uplift your mood and spirit. 🤩
Canada just rocks.... 🇨🇦🎹🎸🥁🇨🇦
Yes, Canada for the win again 😀 !
Triumph had a ton of hits, this one, Hold On, Somebody's Out there, Rocky Mountain Way, Fight the Good Fight...the list goes on
Spellbound, Follow Your Heart, Time Goes By, Midsummer’s Daydream.. in fact the whole Thunder Seven album is fantastic. Tears In The Rain, Suitcase Blues, Lay It On The Line, …. Canada for the win again 😄

My favorite for performing. Very intelligent classy guys.
Was at this show and they killed it best band there , and there were big names there , they were one of the first bands to perform as you can still see daylight,
Fantastic track from one of my favorites bands. Rik Emmett is amazing. Awesome singer and guitar player
I remember 1983 I was 16 and watched this concert on television this was during the era of Farm Aid and USA for Africa
Young pup I was 21 when this was recorded
Gil Moore on drums is also a great singer

Gil gets no recognition for his vocal contributions - I actually prefer Gils tone over riks
Gil does a kick ass "when the lights go down" from this show. Last number of the set and then fight the good fight is the encore. Amazing live set from them.
Love how happy you looked watching this… magic power is infectious in music!
Makes me cry cause so much smile and satisfaction
I was there that day best band that day
I saw Triumph in 1983. Lee County Civic Center, Ft Myers Florida
High School, this lived on my car stereo along with Rush, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Black Sabbath, and many more, etc.., also had the LP at home!!!
I saw Rick Emmitt play at a small club (well not too small) in San Diego back in the early 90's, vocals and guitar work as great as ever!!

Cheerz !!!!
It is great. They did have a few hits, but were really underrated overall. Agree as well, they were totally positive, as well as amazing musicians. Would so have loved to have been at this concert Unfortunately, never got to see them live 😞
The Great White North.. strikes again! ❤ Amazing song, another awesome band! 🇨🇦

Judas Priest, like Triumph, gave of one of their best live performances of all time at US Fest, too. One for the ages!
I was 20 when this song came out, seen them in "the Metro Center" in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada!! They recorded a video at the concert!!😀👌👍✌🤘
Yeah, the calendar says that was a long time ago, but it sure doesn't feel like it. This was in high rotation on my local rock station at the time. Thanks for bringing up some nice memories!
Triumph did a great whole set at the US Festival.....worth looking into. Ricks guitar solo is epic during the song Rock and Roll Machine.
Missing Persons' set that year was great as well. Terry Bozzio's drumming was just savage.
I was 23 when this happened...was already a Triumph fan
The heavy rocker "Rock 'N Roll Machine" was my introduction to Triumph. I was hooked after that.
That must have been a heck of a concert !
So much nostalgia! Great song!🎸🤘
Classic Rock at it's finest
According to Google, the singer Rik is still writing songs. 71 years old now. It happens
Rik Emmett is one of my favourite artists. You should listen to his solo albums. I recommend Ipso Facto. He is now more into jazz and blues than rock.
@@patricelavigne7190yes. His solo stuff is great. Variance of styles. He's a master
Another Canadian great❤🇨🇦 Rik Emmett has fantastic range and they had many hits
Lay It On The Line Hold On Somebody's Out There Fight The Good Fight....just a few😊
Triumph's lyrics were usually uplifting and positive.
Wonderful reaction to a fantastic band! “Hold On”, and “Sombody’s Out There” would be my two recommendations 😁
Seconded.
Triumph was awesome. Saw them 2 times. They seemed to always be under the shadow of RUSH. Canadian trio...etc. But they were a unique band unto themselves. The album Thunder Seven is my fav.
Ric Emmett is incredibly talented. Dude is one of the best singers ever, and an elite guitarist.
Brilliance ... Triumph. Thank goodness I lived this era and saw the concerts without looking over your shoulder.
Your reaction is great! I can see in my head that you're at that concert, dancing and feeling free.
83 was the first half of my senior year in high school. Great memories 😊
This was the US festival in I believe 1983 I was there.
I love this song so much, I do remember 1983! I saw Triumph for the first time in 1978 at a similar outdoor venue and was drinking from a wine skin just like the dude in the video lol. They had several hits here in Ontario, Canada and one of my very favourite songs is "Hold On".

Their music often speaks to the soul:)

No bullshit, no crap, just raw ripping talent…….. fuck I miss the 80’s, nothing compares today.

I remember...I was an 8 year old music video junkie. And fan of Rush and Triumph. Still am!
These superbe groups never come back, thats sooooooo sad, because without music i can't live!!!!!!!!.
Your absolutely enchanting ❤
Somebody's Out There was their highest charted single but I never heard it on the radio once in the KC market. Lay It On the Line, Fight the Good Fight, Hold On & Magic Power got the air time. But they always played the larger venue when they toured as a headliner.

Rock and roll machine...that was my go to song to get me going back in the 80s
That was fun! That band is really good. I'm going in 😉
Those days are gone, indeed. Unfortunately.
Thanks for what you're doing.
Lay it on the Line, Magic Power, Fight the Good Fight, Follow Your Heart, Rock 'N' Roll Machine, Allied Forces, Spellbound, Tears in the Rain, Blinding Light Show.
You can't pick a bad song.
Another three piece band from Toronto , Rush and Triumph
thought for second thought maybe goddo
Triumph almost has a rabbit hole as big as Rush if you want to do some digging. Another awesome band from Canada.
Canada has some awesome music. Saga is another fantastic, but overlooked band from the Great White North.
@@ortizmoyes on Saga. Been a fan for 40 yrs. I was just playing their chapters live album yesterday. Ian's guitar and sadler's vocals. Great band

It’s hard to believe that 41 years ago I was actually in that crowd! The US festival was 3 days of awesomeness and dirt!!
Big smile on the redhead! Methinks you like!
I was in grade 10 in '83. Those days aren't coming back, unfortunately.
I was there, Motley Crue Judas Priest, ozzy , Van Halen ,scorpions and triumph
Me too I was there
When adjusting for population density, Canada has given us more quality music than any other country on Earth!
Triumph (and Rush) are the best things from Canada since maple syrup.
