When I was in university in Toronto a bunch of us went to the Brunswick Tavern upstairs one night to see A blues legend-I can't recall who it was. Healy opened for him and blew everybody away. It was a very early performance in his carear. He exploded after that. He ended up at our house and partied most of the night with my buddies. He had a great club in Toronto where he played regularily. He was captivating. Life wasn't fair to him but he burned it down anyway. Very cool guy. What would he be doing now if he was still with us? It would be mind blowing.

It's funny U mentioned Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jeff and SRV toured and played a lot together. Cancer took his eyes at 1, Someone put a guitar in his lap at 2. He taught himself to play it like a "steel guitar". Cancer took hiss life 2 weeks before his 42nd birthday, 4 week weeks before his st studio album in 11 yrs was released....

I saw Jeff in a nightclub on a Wednesday night just down the road from where I lived in Toronto, Amazing. This was before he became better known. I went up and shook his hand afterwards. Amazing (I had 'special access' in those days at this particular club).

A great Canadian musician who left too soon at the age of 41, he was blind from cancer in his eyes and had a unique way to play guitar. Great guitarist, he covered some great songs, Angel Eyes, "I Think I Love You Too Much" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

He was 'discovered' by Ronnie Hawkins playing guitar on the street outside the Colonial Tavern in Toronto and was invited on stage to play with them at maybe 14 years old. He was a prodigy but his real love was playing dixieland trumpet and other old jazz. His accomplishments in life should be an inspiation to anybody with a disability to not let it hold them back. His bandmates in this vid are some of the finest musicians in the world and look at how hard they are working to keep up.
I once saw Jeff play and jam with SRV snd Jeff Beck on the same stage (Skydome) and they all kicked a$$.
      RIP Jeff Healey.

I live in Vancouver and have seen Mr. Healy a few times as he was just at the time in his young days would perform at The Yale Pub. In the years that have past I'd get off of work and go the Yale and Jeff would be there. Now be it, Jeff at the time didn't play with the likes of B.B. King or Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan but he was a headliner 100%. Mr. Healy went on to do great performances with many great artist and is WELL known in Canada. It's those simple moments in life where you brush by total greatness and feel it, not because of cameras but because that person gives off that possitive greatness. Jeff just gave off that vibe that performers now a days crave that moment. If you want to go on with a future performance that Jeff did you might love this reaction

Great reaction!! LOVE this track, LOVE Mr. Jeff Healey (RIP - gone WAY too soon at 41 years, back in 2006)! What an assembly of top notch talent - I just get a kick out of watching Marcus Miller just grooving, having the time of his life, behind this blind Canadian white boy KILLING it on guitar! Kudos to Omar Hakim for holding the fort, expertly might I add, and the one and only Dr. John on keys!
Night Music was a music program, every Sunday night I believe. The man with the sax is David Sanborn. Marcus & Omar were part of the house band. Hosted by Jools Holland.
Jeff and his regular band would go on to be the house band in Road House in 1989.
My wife (then girlfriend) and I saw Jeff in our local roadhouse (Lulu's) back in 1999 - and it was a stellar performance!! Besides this track, he blew the roof off the place with his cover of Cream's Sunshine Of Your Love (25 years later and I remember it clear as day!).
What a wonderful talent - taken from us FAR too soon!

Jeff is Canadian and he lost his sight to ocular cancer when he was a year old. He was given a guitar at three and played it in his lap as it was too hard to reach the strings when he was so little.

Hey Red, are you from New Orleans? You say "y'all" and you know Dr. John. Just wondering. Btw, Jeff does a cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" that kicks ass. It was my introduction to him. Incredible musician.

As great as he was you should see his performances with Stevie Ray Vaugan when they play together it blows the roof off the building. They have them on several you tube channels.

This video isn't from the movie. I think it's from a late night show. Jeff Healey, however, is in the original Road House movie as a guitarist in a band (his original band, I think) in the bar, The Double Deuce. More misinformation and lack of information. (Jeff Healey has been blind since 2 years of age.) from a subscriber, but whatever. Jeff Healey, nonetheless in the performance you were intended to be shown. Never mind being blind. His playing is jaw-dropping!! I wish this was his original band because the rhythm section section here is way better than the guys he plays with. They're not bad, but they're not these guys!
