- I eat at and review Sal, Kris, & Charlie's Deli in Astoria, Queens of New York City. The old school establishment has been serving Italian grinder/hoagie/sub sandwiches for decades. Their most famous and popular sandwich is one called “The Bomb,” which I eat in this video.

About Me: I live in NYC and I’m about food, travel and work.
Love A.Q. grew up there. Worked a few blocks away, and for years, the old man (r.i.p.) Sal made my sandwiches. That man's heart was one of a kind. He impacted a lot of people with his light. I highly recommend Sal Chris and Charlie's.
It's definitely a must visit!
I've always wanted to go there. Nice to see it lives up to the expectations.
It's awesome! You've got to check it out!
Definitely one of my favorite sandwich shops in NYC, their BOMB and Shrimp salad is amazing. Thanks for the review.
It's a great spot for sure! Thanks for watching!
Respect on the authentic nyc vibes and stories. Keep up the great work
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
There's nothing like the anticipation of that first bite... Blessings first to the vessel, that beautiful bread. ❤🥖
Exactly! It all starts with the bread!
keep up the great work! love your vids
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
The Bomb Fully Loaded is my favorite sandwich ever because of the variety of foods you get on it, plus, at $14, tax included, its worth every penny. It may cost more now because the last time i was there was July 2022. My second favorite sandwich from a deli comes from the greatest deli on earth, Katz's. Corned beef on rye with mustard.
Absolutely! The Bomb is fantastic! And even with the price increase it's such a good value! Katz's is legendary as well! You can't go wrong there!
Yum. Looks better than a subway sanwich. :)
It was really good!
I grew up in NYC and lived there until from the 60# until 90s. Then they were called heroes. When did it switch to grinders.
It's still called a hero, but grinders is becoming a popular term to call them that these days. It seems like there's a million words for a sandwich.
Hoagie = Philly
Grinder = Boston
The term grinder kinda went viral on social media, but I’ll always call them heroes lol.
We still call them heroes. I think grinders is a Connecticut term.
Very nice! I've heard of, but haven't been. The old school place by me is Cherry Valley. Open 24 hours, and damn good sandwiches! Definitely worth checking out when you're in my neck of Queens!
Thanks for the recommendation! Yeah, I really enjoy places like this. You can't beat these old school neighborhood establishments.
❤❤❤❤your reviews
Thank you! That really makes me happy to hear!
That’s one hell of a sandwich! Did you end up taking a nap later? And as usual, great video as always!
Haha! I fortunately managed to stay awake. Thank you! It was an epic sandwich indeed!
Looked fantastic!!! Nothing like a classic deli sandwich...looks delicious. Your haircut is super handsome.
Thank you! I appreciate it! I really needed a haircut too! Yeah, that sandwich was amazing!
@@Jamesnu I replayed this video for a friend and he kept yelling.....he isnt even going to eat half of that!!! I'm like....just wait! Edit omg he is accusing you of hiding the other half hahaha
@@choochalah Haha! I feel that I'm blessed in that I have such a large appetite, but I do feel a little bad considering I didn't finish it all in one sitting. At the same time, the other half made for a great dinner!
Looks delicious! I will have to try sometime. What watch are you wearing?
It was a great sandwich and it's definitely worth trying! I was wearing the Orient 2nd Generation Bambino Version 2 dress watch. It's a solid watch!
Gah lee that looked good…Big fan of that thing and would love to try it…good job buddy
Thank you! Yeah, it tasted just as good as it looked!
Looks delicious. Kind of reminds me of a conti roll in Perth. Must be that Italian influence
Yeah, both look pretty similar. It was a great sandwich!
This again looks so freaking good. Btw: I`m on vacation and the hotel has a pretty decent breakfast buffet which I am about to hit. :)
Nice! I love a good buffet! Enjoy your trip!
That was a nice look at that legendary sandwich. I personally never mix meats and so I never found it appealing for me. I guess it's that 1st generation Italian thing, because in Italy they don't mix the meats (at least not traditionally) But man, what a deal and a steal that sandwich is.
For sure! I saw a number of other people in line asking for their sandwich to be cut four ways, which probably meant that they were going to share it with four people. It's a great deal! I know what you mean about mixing meats. The second most popular sandwich at the deli is one called "The Italian" which seems to be more focused in terms of ingredients and flavors. Plus, it's almost the size of the bomb.
They send this through Goldbelly as well. The "Bomb" is amazing !
Absolutely! Plus the fact that it's offered through Goldbelly gives so many others a chance to try it.
Now that's what I'm talkin about that Hoagie is the bomb for sure ! I'm so tired of saying Italian hoagie pages on Facebook where the roll still has a hinge in it that's not how you make an East Coast Hoagie sub sandwich you cut the roll completely in half the lettuce tomato and whatever on a top of the meat and cheese when I see those posts I call it an Italian taco LOL boy could I use one of those subs from Astoria Queens❤
Haha! I know what you mean! Yeah, this deli serves some serious sandwiches!
This place is great!
Definitely!
I feel that that would take a whole lunch break to eat that 😂 but I am sure its delish to the max
Definitely! It took me forever just to eat half of it, but it was worth it!
That's obscene, I need two. LOL Nothing beats NYC sans IMO. I've had many from a lot of places. When I was younger, I could easily put the BOMB down with no issues. Today, maybe half. Jame's you're living my next life right now. Cheers
Haha! Yeah, that was a pretty epic sandwich!
👍
Thanks for watching!
Yummy 😋 yummy 😋 love from Pakistan 🙂
Thank you! Yeah, it was so tasty!
A sandwich the size of a person's arm should be the new standard.
Absolutely! But an adult arm of course!
I miss living in Astoria. Now I’m in the SF Bay area, and I’m reduced to ordering that sandwich via Goldbelly.
At least the sandwich is offered on Goldbelly.
You should try the Mexican Tortas in the Bay Area. That and the Burritos with French Fries instead of Rice and Beans. That's one thing NYC lacks is good unpretentious Mexican street food.
Sorriso also in Astoria has a lot of hot heroes. Robert De Niro is a fan and orders their Eggplant Parm.
@@user-or6yn8pm3c I've heard about that place. It's definitely another spot for me to check out.
@@user-or6yn8pm3c The Bay Area definitely has a great food scene!
Queens is the best. All day 😅
100%!!! I love living in Queens!
Hi Friend! Hoping you’ll check out the Park Side Restaurant in Corona (Ozone Park?), I’ve heard great things about it from Italian friends who claim it’s the best in the Borough. 🇮🇹
@@amyt2400 Yeah, I've heard great things about that restaurant too and I definitely want to check it out sometime in the future!
.....A nice sandwich for 4 lol
Oh yeah! One really gets their money's worth!
.elfei'salonahus"sopimus-calo_oroszjes,caliente
Did you run before or after or run before and after?
Haha! Definitely before! It wouldn't have been a pretty sight if I tried running afterwards.
That sandwich would last me four days
I know what you mean! It's epic!
Bolster cushion sandwich 😂
Exactly, it was so massive!!
That's a big as a new born baby.
Haha! Yeah, it's epic!
And what would be the price??
$17.
Not gonna lie… I was actually expecting you to eat the whole thing haha
Haha! I know I could have, but I just didn't feel like stuffing myself that day and it makes for great leftovers.
#BucketListAddition
It's definitely a must visit!
How much was the sandwich???
Only $17. Definitely a great deal for NYC!
@DW-ii6jt That's true! I didn't even think about that!
What's your favourite deli in New York james
That's a difficult question, there are so many great options! I really like Sarge's and 2nd Ave Deli, but those are more so delis/diners. Regina's Grocery on the Lower East Side and Nolita has some great deli sandwiches, which I love! The one I visited in this video is now one of my favorites. But I also think that I haven't even visited some of the best places in NYC like Lioni Italian Heroes and Casa Della Mozzarella.
@@Jamesnu yes I can imagine so it would be difficult to decide I will just have to try them all when I get there 🤣🤣
Cash Only...
I wish they took credit card, but the sandwich is such a great deal that I can't complain too much.
like the vids but turkey and ham are not "american meats" lol
Thank you! We'll, at least meat that's commonplace in America. That's how the deli refers to them anyways.
Should have weighted it.
Next time. It was pretty epic!
My favorite if Defontes.
@@bb57365 I haven't been there yet, but I've heard great things about it!
When I hear "cash only", I can't help but think "tax fraud".
