This movie IS the epitomy of the 50's science fiction! It even has gyros to make sure the ship stays vertical!!
As the door closed to the ship, thought was "is door supplied by Boeing?" 😂😂

There is no reason that a 'reporter' couldn't be filing reports via radio...but the unforgivably obtuse adminstrator seems confounded about how a 'reporter' could do his job...pretty sure I wouldn't trust any project developed under his purview!

Yep, as a retired aerospace engineer, these movies make me groan sometimes, but it was 1951 and low budget.
Low budget means: adapting a German V2 for a flight to Mars + get B-17 flight jackets as "space suits" (however, wear fedoras, 'cause Earthlings must introduce themselves to Martians properly). Smoking allowed...lucky that the cabin didn´t explode.
The martians have on better space suits than the travelers. Hilarious!!😂
They look as if they were repurposed from "Destination Moon."
And all in lovely pastel colours !
You can tell how old this film is…they board the docket in their street clothes😎

Deja vu sensation : Kurt Neumann's spaceship set for Rocketship X-M [ 1950 ] has been brought back , with exception of some new instruments.
I remember seeing this many years ago on a Saturday afternoon. I was just a kid and it made more sense to me back then. But now? Why is it the Earth men could build a ship and successfully reach the planet Mars and the Martians who obviously had light years more advanced technology couldn't travel to Earth or even send a radio broadcast?

The helmets were made out of paper mache,which makes sense as the helmet was the most expensive part of the prop to make.
A couple of the suits showed up in Radar men from the moon [1952] and one of these helmets now looking a little bit battered and starting to delaminate was paired with the body of a gorilla suit to provide the alien Ro-Man who was the villain in the 3-D movie Robot Monster [1953].
The Destination Moon style of spacesuit continued to be used right up to at least the late 1960s.

What's the real message in this movie when the women are all super models in tight clothes with mini skirts, and the men wear lose clothing, and suits that cover their entire body.

With our current technology, it would take an astronaut about 7 months to get to Mars. There's no life on Mars, no breathable atmosphere, no rainfall, and it's incredibly cold on Mars as well.😮
your forgot deadly radiation, bone destroying low gravity, toxic dust blocking any filters and zero sense and purpose to spend $Trillions for achieving nothing, todays robots can do better.
But nobody knew that in 1950.
Try 2 years for a one way trip. The plan is to have a base with a breathable atmosphere. After the ship takes off it will be sitting in Earth orbit to refuel before actually leaving for Mars. There will be rotating crews.
get a life, this was in 1951 ! six years before sputnik 1, and for us young kids it made our imagination run wild. This, and programs like Quatermass and the pit, and 'the blob' certainly kept me awake at night.

How silly this movie is. Mars is dead, nothing but sand and rock. Only the movie "The Martian' had it right. And why are the women wearing micro mini skirts? Hollywood loves sensationalism, it certainly brings in the money.
