Have a lump in my achilles, so sore. Stiff to the point it feels like its going to snap. Got kickd in it over 2 years ago and never healed 😖 would these help?
@@Maxxis1941 had 1 in the left, and went after a couple weeks of stretching it out and massaging it out. The 1 on the right has been here 2 years atleast and nothing has worked. So thanks il 100% try this
Thank you. Those mini exercises were very good. Do you have anything for arthritis and menopause and hypermobile sufferers? Sometimes everything, every movement, just HURTS! Thanking you in advance for any answer.
Dear Dr Michael I had sepsis, 3 toes removed,, big to muddle, achilles tendon adjustment. I was in a cast for 2 months and found it to be extremely difficult to walk properly afterwards as foot pointed at 45 degrees. I find your videos to be extremely helpful. Can you please do a therapy video to address getting back to walking again. I'm doing the weighted calf raises, (500 to 1000 a day) lots of walking, kettlebell clean and jerks, eventually, it is only cycling which is restoring my ability to walk with toes pointing forwards. Hello Doctor I'm a dancer and last year in the middle of May, my left ankle suddenly felt sore and in pain, so as usual I ignored it, until it came to a place where I couldn't even dance and wear heels anymore and it caused so much pain. After many consultations and MRI's it turned out my ankle had an inflammation and whichever physiotherapist I went to and many doctors nothing really helped to get ride of the pain fully, until a year later I found your video, and you have no idea how much this helped. I've been doing it everyday now and my ankle feels so much better. So thank you so much doctor for sharing this video and your knowledge with us🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰

Thank you for this video! I had pain in my Achilles that I thought would not go away. I started doing the spoon muscle scraping, and within 2 weeks, it was good. Awesome videos! I'm back to running pain-free and training for my April 100k.
I am 60 yr old. For the last 3 months I'm having this achiilies pain; when I walk I don't feel much of pain; after a rest, I have severe pain; as I have to do my work by standing only, paining much during standing also. After seeing your video and read the comments, hope I will also be relieved from this pain after doing the exercise. Only thing is, if i even touch (gently also) the ankle part itself, I have pain. But somehow will try to do this exercise to get rid of the pain. Thanks in advance.
This is fun! I scraped my heelbone/achilles with the spoon and within a minute the tenderness is gone! I can now squeeze the bone without crying out in pain. I am aware that it is most likely not a full fix, but it is a great help. I will do my calf strengthening exercises to get on top of this. Thank you!
I have a game coming up this Saturday and was afraid I wouldn’t be able to play due to my Achilles pain, but your methods worked! Thanks for this video!

Worked so well...Thankyou Dr Rowe! Ive been hobbling around for 10 days with this. Always worse getting out of bed in mornings (ouch) or getting up from sitting. Youre a gem! My body "packed up" after my husband passed suddenly (unvaxxed friends, he had heart failure) - first my hip, then behind knee, then both archilles. My magnesium levels had dropped badly through extreme stress and grief, putting huge tension on my tendons due to muscle contraction. (Now rectified...) Your wonderful advice has been a huge help!! Sending a hug from New Zealand.
In five minutes total, the pinching and pulling helped relieve the stiffness I feel in both achilles tendons. They are still tender when applying pressure, so I'll try some of the other techniques for more long-term relief. This is a great start. Thank you for sharing.
Your video helped me tremendously. I had no idea that I had Achilles tendonitis. I just recently took up pickleball and I thought it was because I jammed my heal into the pavement which I probably did. But I was walking around sore and then it got really bad. Yesterday I watched your pinching massage video video last night and today It feels 90% better because of those pinching massages! Thank you for creating a video like this! I'm so glad I did not wind up tearing my achilles tendon over this because I would have had no idea what was causing my pain. Thanks again!
Amazing! Thank you so much! I followed along with the video and got immediate pain relief! Within 5 minutes of massage my pain was gone! I will do this every day now. So so grateful I finally found a solution to my long standing problem. Thank you!
Wanted to thank you for the tip in this video. Had been suffering from pain in my heel for 14 months and trying everything. After just a few short sessions following the doorway stretch outlined in this video, the pain has almost completely gone. Thanks again!
Thank you 🙏. You helped with my sciatica and now with my Achilles tendonitis. You are my go to. Your explanations are clear and your advice/exercises just work. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
..the achilles massage technique is one that I started doing instinctively - so it's great to see it here. It's legit! Trust your instincts. Great, thank you.
You are my go to when I'm in pain. Thank you for all your kind help with your amazing helpful videos. I do not have insurance and can't afford to go to therapy so I am truly grateful. 😊
Thanks man. I got all kinds of crap going on with my health. So when I hurt my Achilles I sort of ignored it, hoping it’d go away. After 6 months it did to a degree. But now I’ve got a golf ball full of scar tissue. You explained it really well. I do basic well. And when I saw the thumbnail of the desert spoon, I thought this might be interesting. I’ve only done a week of the pinch and pull method (and towards the end of the week I could feel a bit more flexibility, especially in the mornings!🥶) I do it in the shower (seated, of course). I’m going to give the spoon a go next week. Slow and steady wins the race as the saying goes. Thanks again. 👍
Go and see a good sports physio for calf loading exercises. It will restore the tendon. The fibres need to be realigned. Thats why you have the painful bump. My Achilles went back to normal. Also check your footwear if your tendonitis is caused by over pronation you need a stability running shoe if it is caused by running with the wrong shoe. A gait analysis will show you what is actually going on.
Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately the lump is still excruciating. They say the tendon can thicken as we get older, perhaps that's what is happening to mine (I am 62). It is the hardest of lumps and the mornings are horrible. No massage or exercises have touches it. It loosens a litte in the day but I am always aware of it. I saw a physio, four sessions, who used a sound gun/instrument. Good for a few hours then back comes the lump. I have a massage machine, a tens machine, good fitting trainers and try all the advice on eccentric stretching which does relieve it in the morning. Apparently PRP treatment and shockwave therapy can help, outside of surgery (of which I am wary of poor outcomes) I feel I have to live with this. Sore to touch, pulses at night and is restrictively rock hard in the mornings. I hope others on this site are coping, any changes I will report. I recently had a hip replacement, however hard the rehab', I am improving every day, it is nothing compared with this tendonopathy.
I absolutely love the pinch and pull method! Releasing the fascia and muscle tissue can improve gliding surfaces and provide patients with so much pain relief! I use this all the time with my patients who lack ankle flexibility! Great demonstration here Dr Rowe
THANK YOU. I didnt even know massage and scraping were possible treatments. And it helps that quick too. Oooooomggg I HAVE BEEN IN PAIN FOR MONTHS. THANK U.
Hello guys, I just want to drop my story down here! When I graduated from school I wanted to do a Military course. Sadly, I've a Achilles problem since february/march this year. I did a lot of running with bad footwear. Sadly, at 2 december (today), I'm still feeling this pain. I would've start with the military course last monday. I'm giving my everything to heal from this injury! I hope this video will help me. Remind me to give you guys an update!
Tried the muscle scraping to get some relief as I don't want to take any more anti-inflammatories. It brought my pain down from an 8 to about a 4. Will keep doing it. Can't even do the calf raises right now as I still have some pain and a pinching sensation at the back of my ankle. Hopefully this works to ease the pain naturally. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I was born with short Achilles tendons (which was remedied by being in set casts for 6 months as a very young child) and have recently taken up golf at 36. It’s been pulling on my Achilles and they have become very sore to the touch. I had instant relief after watching this video and applying the techniques mentioned (especially the massage), amazing stuff! ❤
Great video, I was hobbling this morning , did similar iastm type scraping , almost walking normally 😊 I’m a Chiro so obviously understand the process but had not done my calf before 😊
Thank you so much for providing this information! I've been suffering with Achilles tendonitis for 5 weeks now and your video has given me immense relief, more than anything else I've tried. I'm also working with your videos for knee pain and they are already helping me too. Thank you for sharing these videos, I'm forever grateful!!!! Life-changing :)
Ok, just tried the spoon muscle scrape on a year-long achilles/heel pain and feel immediate relief. EDIT: the relief was v short lived though. It's def. NOT a long term cure.
I've not had any issues with my Achilles since. The key to rubbing this area out is to find a slave or cream which will stay fluid and not absorb into the skin quickly while working the affected area.
Thank you, following an hour walk yesterday, woke up and my heel was killing me. I have suffered with Achilles tendinitis now on and off for 9 months. I followed the massage exercises and stretches, for approximately 15 minutes and the pain has gone away, given me instant relief. I will be doing this everyday now, thank you. Any tips regarding exercising please?
Dear Dr Michael. I really get so much benefit from your videos. I had sepsis, middle toe gone to ankle and toes 1 and 2 osteomyelitis and achilles tendon adjustment in Jan 2023. I'm finding really difficult to get achilles tendon working well again. Can you please do a video on exercises for achilles tendon post operation recovery. Best regards Seamus
I'm in pain and so worried right now. Tuesday morning I woke up and my Achilles was in pain but I didn't think much of it. Wednesday morning more pain and even less mobility. My work week starts tomorrow on Thursday I'm very frightened. This came out of no where. I'm scared to go to a doctor and I'm scared of reading that tendonitis can last for months. It's not bad enough I can't walk but its enough that it bothers me when I'm not moving. It seems to get a little less worse when I actually move around on it. The only thing I can think might have initiated this me kicking a tire to get it unstuck from a car Monday night. Man I pray this goes away soon or that some of this helps. I'm scared it so tender touching it hurts excruiatingly.
Thank you thank you thank. I just asked you if you had something for this in your PF video. But I found this. The spoon is magic. I went to podiatrist last Friday, he said I needed to buy inserts and different shoes. And just stretch. Well I feel like it's gotten worse. But just doing what u said, helped alot. Past 2 days I've barely been able to walk. In just 30 seconds 😆 I did get some release. Thank you so much.❤
Can't tell you how much your videos help me and have helped me in the past! I have a problem... I youtube Dr. Rowe! Thanks... working on this achilles... getting better! Told my husband, I wish I was your neighbor !! LOL
Was helpful for pain above the heel but didn't really help my insertional tendonitis much. Would love to see more techniques around the heel where it inserts.
My Dear Doctor, thank you for all you do, your willing to share and help is incredible and so much appreciated. God bless you and your loved ones. One question if I may ask, will these exercises help with Drop Foot or do you have another video I missed. Thank you again. Love from Greece
My pain is a little lower down on the back of my heel. Below the level of my ankle. Is that still the Achilles? The pain is excruciating. Worse in the morning. I haven't injured it. It just came on suddenly. I had a slight pain in the day, then after I slept and woke up the next morning I was in agony.
Definitely help it is important to follow your exact explanation as at first I didn’t put oil on next time I had my oil handy made all the difference. I play ten pin bowling I would love some exercises or stretches that may help ten pin bowling enthusiasts…
I literally have tried everything! Going to give this a try. Thank you. I've been dealing with Achilles tendinitis for 2 months now! I also have a bone spur on the back of my heel that hurts so bad!! Do you have a video for bone spurs on the back of the heel? I also have something called dorsal calyx enthesophyte. An xray showed all this. Had an mri done of my foot yesterday. I don't have the results yet.
Thx. I was attracted to the podcast because you said 9 minutes or something to that effect and I thought you I've got that time. I had broken my fourth toe on my right foot thr day before I left for my vacation to Chicago. In Chicago I took daily tours and they walk extremely fast in Chicago & the sidewalks r full of cracks and holes because I don't think they've been repaired for 200 years. The right toe was hurting but what could I do? I wore my Birkenstocks so I'd have a very flat shoe but unfortunately that resulted in me hitting a crack-- when I wasn't totally looking down-- and I fell flat on my face. I actually kept my face elevated but my elbow; my knee; and my hand took a blow on the left side. That pain superseded the pain in my right broken toe and so I paid very little attention to that foot in my need to walk very quickly on these daily tours to see the city of Chicago. Needless to say the pain slowly abated in my left knee & my left elbow it moved to the cartilage surrounding my left rib resulting in costochondritis which was my diagnosis. had actually made a similar diagnosis a year ago when I strained that area when gardening and stretching in too hard and too far. I had what I determine was costochondritis although my primary care doctor had NO idea it took me telling a second doctor my diagnosis before he concurred. So I'm pretty sure I'm spot on. I realize you're not discussing that aspect of the body but I only mention that because that pain superseded my toe pain. It by then had abated but it had moved to the back of my heel. After watching a podcast prior to yours I realized it was NOT bursitis of the heel but it was achilles tendonitis. I believe-- because I had to walk funny due to the toe hurting-- I had developed achilles tendonitis. Your exercises I have begun and I'm already feeling relief which is good because my doctors do NOT have a clue and there is NO podiatrist at my hospital in my teeny Texas town. I'd begun to think that pain --which seemed to have no cause other than what I just relayed to you-- resultedcin the tendon being aggravated and inflamed. I now realize I can heal it.Thank you from the bottom of my ❤️

Thank you @Dr.Rowe! These exercises have quickly relieved the tendinitis discomfort I’ve had for the past 2 days! Such GREAT expert advice.
Thank you 🙏. You helped with my sciatica and now with my Achilles tendonitis. You are my go to. Your explanations are clear and your advice/exercises just work. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
OMG!!! IT WORKS SO QUICKLY
Thanks
Thank you four supporting the channel! - Dr. Rowe -
..the achilles massage technique is one that I started doing instinctively - so it's great to see it here. It's legit! Trust your instincts.
Great, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot for making this video. I play soccer and have been dealing with this injury for 4weeks. The muscle scraping seems to do the trick for me.
Glad it's helping and thanks for watching!
Thank you; that "steps" exercise did wonders for me. I got instant relief.
Have a lump on my achillies, 4 months of pain and sleepless nights so far. I will give this a go and report back.
Good luck with your recovery 👍
Omg same is happening to me
Go and see a good sports physio for calf loading exercises.

Great demonstration here Dr Rowe
oh man, whenever the Mackinac chiro bro pops up, I get the utensils ready. Yet another super helpful one for me.
Thank you so much. I have been in pain for a week now and I'm finally getting some relief.
THANK YOU. I didnt even know massage and scraping were possible treatments. And it helps that quick too. Oooooomggg I HAVE BEEN IN PAIN FOR MONTHS. THANK U.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
THANK YOU for supporting the channel, I appreciate it! - Dr. Rowe -
Tried the muscle scraping to get some relief as I don't want to take any more anti-inflammatories.
Glad you’re getting instant relief!
These massages and stretches really do work! Wow! Thank you so much! Released a lot of pain.
Thanks so much, I felt instant relief, I guess I would have to do anytime I feel the pain, I wish there was something that solves it forever.....
Thanks, had quite severe pain and these techniques helped a lot
Great video, I was hobbling this morning , did similar iastm type scraping , almost walking normally 😊 I’m a Chiro so obviously understand the process but had not done my calf before 😊
This is amazing! I feel a lot better with the massage techniques. Thank you!
Thankyousomuch for helping me to relief the pain🥺
Thanks for the instructions on how to relieve Achilles tendon pain. I deal with this and these tips were very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Glad the exercises are helping you and keep at it!
Ok, just tried the spoon muscle scrape on a year-long achilles/heel pain and feel immediate relief. EDIT: the relief was v short lived though. It's def. NOT a long term cure.
Glad it helped!
Thank you for your help I am suffering
Thank you so much for sharing! These simple techniques have helped so much!
Great to hear that!
Thank you, for this I have had pain with this in both feet because, my tenants grew in a slant
Instant relief. Hope this will help to deal with my condition in the long run and can continue running. Thank you Sir!
Thanks just started doing the excercise...feeling hopeful ❤
Thank you!!!! The pinch pull and spoon really works!
Glad it helped!
Ive been having continuous strain on my tendon, im going to try this now and see how it handles
Muscle scraping is new to me. I can't wait to try it.
Hope it helps you!
amazing ! I was skeptical but I did everything the video said to try and immediate relief! My calves are burning but a good burn!
Thanks a lot doc am feeling improvement already in South Africa KwaZulu-Natal ❤
This actually works amazing! My leg feels great now after following along with your exercises
Another great video thank you !! That’s as if you are reading my mind 🤩i have add achilles tendon issues for years.
Hope these exercises help, and please give us an update soon.

Thanks for watching!
Very very helpful Thank you so so much for Your INCREDIBLE information
LOL
Just the soft tissue massage was a relief 😌😌 thank you. The intetnet wins again.
_Thank you. You are the man. Absolutely great channel_
I appreciate that!
Excellent treatment
Got relief
Thanks
Glad you got relief!
Thank you Dr.Rowe. It is excellent
Thanks again for watching!
You’re the best PT!
Thanks for watching!
Would you suggest doing these exercises/massages daily? Thanks.
It by then
had abated but it had moved to the back of my heel.
I now realize I can heal it.Thank you from the bottom of my ❤️
Thanks for the tips! I dig the calf raise variations
