I bought this album on record in the seventies when I was a teenager, now I'm 64 and I still have the same record in it's original cover and in perfect condition, still listen to Noddy holder and Slade.
Same age also. We wrote S-L-A-D-E on our 10 year old hands. I have a photo taken in 1972 of myself and my friend acting oh so bloody cool back then...we knew what it meant , and the others , did not. Memories.
Absolutely totally agree with you they'll never be a better front man than Noddy the best ever & no one will ever match him and the boyz ever..Slade just simply luv em ' and always will do 👌
I was 12 years old when I bought my first LP which was Slade Alive. I can still picture my parents covering their ears and screaming at me to turn the volume down. I was playing this song full volume.
I was about same age. Member of fan club. Much to my dad's annoyance. Got offer at 15 to go Hammersmith to be in crowd for FLAME. Wouldn't let me go. But got my own back. Painted a copy of album cover and sent it to him. Was still on wall up till he passed
I'm 41 in a few days, and I can still remember when my father first played this record for me on his His Masters Voice stereo record player when I was a young child.
Slade, the guitar, drums, violin and piano work is absolutely perfection in their music, never again will this earth have music like theirs, I am so happy I saw them live and lived in this time, and don’t forget the vocals,Noddy, Jim, Dave and Don you made the best music of eternity. Thankyou
Jim Lea's bass playing is incredible. I never rated Dave Hill or Don Powell as a youngster but listening again after 50 yrs I wouldn't want them replaced. Don is like Ringo. What he plays fits the music perfectly. Dave although has some edgy solos kinda gives Slade that metallic sound which adds to Slade's uniqueness. The Lea/Holder writing partnership is amazing.
Personally I think this is the greatest thing slade ever did I remember listening to this album in 72.think it was during the power cuts on a cassette player
@@John-e3g4c difficult question . They did a brilliant job on covering both of those. Although Born To Be Wild shows there real rock n roll side I think if pushed to choose I’d go with Darling Be Home Soon. A different side to them and they covered the song with absolute fantastic vocal and instrumental with a dark and light side to the song.
Its hard to better Steppenwolf's version. There's just something about it (its like trying to cover Boston - More Than A Feeling); I think Slade did a fine job but as far as Darling Be Home Soon goes I think they did a far better job than the original (much respect to Jon Sebastian). So I kinda agree with Mikey in the comments....
I use to be a Slade fan when I was 16, and bought a lot of their albums. I might have this too, somewhere hidden in the closet, the song is familiar, my memories are foggy from that long ago, 50 years ago to be precise 😮
Saw them at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino California. Bought this LP the next day. Fast forward 20 years and I'm working in Japan with a young lady from Wolverhampton, home of Slade!
The first album i ever bought and it had a blue sticker on the top right hand corner with £2.25 written on it. I think it was 1972 from Eric Alcock’s in Alsager in Cheshire, UK. Loved it then and love it now and I’m 65. A truly brilliant album. 👍👍👍
Song written by John Sebastian from The Loving Spoonful, and recorded by Joe Cocker, and many others. But this is the favoured version by Slade from their album Slade Alive. ❤
Pete Fawcett, from Leeds, Thanks man ! not forgot your kind deed, back in 74, Hope your still with us. I would appreciate a reply from Petes family. if not Pete himself,
I played this album (as I was in charge of the music) at our annual gang party that lasted two weeks straight until we ran out of money, booze, and girls. Fucking good times
Joe cocker done a good version but you just cant beat Slade's Version as Noddys voice does it justice.. such a Superb Version I absolutely love this one 👌

Still got all my slade LP's this is the best song ever
Indeed!!!
I play this record, and all my problems go away. Greetings from Iceland
This is why Noddy Holder is the greatest rock singer in history.❤

Good man 1
My sister had it, I was 8, miss her and this music
@@GrahamEdwards-p2u Your sister had good taste !
We had the best of the best in the 70s & 80s class of their own where singing & playing instruments was classed as absolute talent.
Great track from an exceptional Live album !🤩❤
Eu Tenho esse cd do SLADE, IS Very Nice. This tune IS wonderful with Joe Cocker too.🎼🎼🎼🎸🎸🎸🎼🎼🎼💃💃💃🕺🕺🕺🤙🚲🤙
Timeless Masterpiece ❤
My brother used to sing this to me. He is with the dear Lord right now. They gained an angel and he came
I was a Stones, Who and Faces fan and then i heard this album

I wish i could have seen them .. but i was only 12.. i had all their LP s... ❤
Slayed, Sladest, i know all their songs by heart.. i grew up with them😊❤
At that age, 12, i think Don Powell lost his girlfriend in a car accident... its all very far away...
Op het afscheidsfeest van lichting 71-5 in Seedorf gedanst met het liefje van de sergeant.....❤

A phenomenal version of this song. Lots of restraint followed by pure energy
i have lost count of how many times I have come back to this classic Slade track, But it has to be in the hundreds,
Me too. When I do revisit, I usually have a couple of listens while I'm here. Might have another one now I reckon. :)
@@warrenmilford6848 Why not.
Jimmy Lea's bass, genius, gifted man
We became teenagers to Slade.... What a band.
Personally I think this is the greatest thing slade ever did I remember listening to this album in 72.think it was during the power cuts on a cassette player
Slade knew how to take a cover song and make it their own and making it the best version of the song ever!
Born to be wild. Or John Sebastians Darling be home soon?

Crazy good!

Juste remarquable 👍🎻🎸🎼😊
Впервые услышал этот хит у Лавин Спунфул на шоу Эд Салливана. В исполнении Слэйд он звучит и мощнее и красивее!

Jimmy adds a sort of sad element with violin bow on guitar. I think? Could be wrong. Don't their accents stand out on this.
That crying Dave's guitar and Noddy's burp...
Makes sense to have a couple of beers while waiting for her.
