Practical Steps to Overcome Self-Pity

  • I know we can all relate to self-pity as women, wives, and mothers. How many times do we focus on our needs that aren’t met? Unfair situations or circumstances? Self-pity is a selfish tendency that takes our eyes off Christ and puts them on ourselves. We forget that “God works all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.” Are we able to give God “thanks in all things”?⁣
"The antidote to self-pity is delighting in the Lord."

As a young homemaker and mother I wish someone would have told me a couple things before marriage-
KEEP YOUR EYES ON CHRIST ALWAYS
    love is a VERB
Every struggle comes to prove our faith and help us grow in areas where we need to.
Self pity is a SIN, REPENT! And agreed, self pity is saying Jesus isn't enough... So correct!!!!!
Seek wisdom from older women. Be quiet and listen.
Marriage ( if you allow the spirit to work in you and turn your heart wholely towards God) will work to make you HOLY not HAPPY, yet at the same time as John Macarthur said marriage is the best of the best in this world and we should be filled with JOY! Happiness is usually self seeking, but joy comes from abiding in Christ!
But seek Christ first in all things, and truly I've learned to compare the stories of those in the bible, even a second of having their eyes off the savior, and then falling into grave sin! Even 5 seconds during my day, if I take my eyes off the Lord I can feel it.
Go to God in absolutely everything, even the small things... And be BOLD in prayer, and pray within the will of the Lord/how to pray
And finally mindset and what you focus on truly is everything. Take our thoughts and words captive unto Christ.. taming the tongue is difficult.
Thank you for your videos! I love them all dearly!!!!!!
    God bless!!

A homeschool mom and friend of mine posted on Facebook the other day and asked for friends to share their favorite podcasts. I saw the Thankful Homemaker pop up from other friends! It’s so neat to hear that some of my friends listen too. Who knew?!?!

Paula - I’m still a learner but really just from doing it. My husband has been a help in teaching me too. Just take it one verse at a time. Use The Who, what, where, when questions and keep a dictionary handy. I do utilize Blue Letter Bible online (for Hebrew & Greek definitions and cross-references) and good solid commentaries too.
