I liked this at Stanford. I really liked it at Minnesota. I loved it at Finals. But this run-thru made this one of my fav all time DCI shows. And I marched SCV in the 70s. Wow!
This year I joined the marching band at Palisades High school, and for our show, we had bought two of those stages. Stage G and H I think. I had to lift and lower one of them at the end of our show and they are the most awkward things imaginable. Props to u guys for dealing with those awkward things.
Just curious, on the props on finals week, SCV pulled off the covers to reveal a tan front rather than the target like front on the prop, was there some special meaning to that? SCV was absolutely amazing as always, such a great show, and was a fan favorite to thousands this year. It was definitely my favorite show this year, Great video Will Burson, thanks for posting.
The props were Gold colored underneath. It was their "Golden" Anniversary. Kinda a little something to give the audience, judges and alumni a kick out of.
Thanks Derek, it had looked like "tan" to me so I never would have gotten the reference. That was such a great musical and visual show. I can't wait to see what they pull out for their show next year.
WestJessTrumpetNerd I marched flute in high school marching band and you can’t imagine the strength needed to keep the proper angles. It’s like having to keep your arms straight in the air for fifteen minutes only putting them down for 15 seconds at a time.
Tallformyheight it also doesn’t help that my fingers are also slightly too short to properly play, my fingers would always cramp up by the end of the show
That and the breathing can be tough. I'm a tuba player, but I hear that playing flute takes more air. I believe it b/c their solos work really well on tuba lol :)
Does anyone know why the mellophone player at 12:08 is pushing the valves with her left hand? Just wondering. Sweet and impressive video by the way! Great playing, marching, dancing... prop maneuvering, etc
I can’t remember exactly what happened, but she fractured some bones in her right hand when she was hit by a rifle (I believe?) during rehearsal. Since she played such a big role in the show musically, she relearned the entire show on her left hand.
12:26 still the best dci vocal after all these years
Great playing man!
Thanks man!
12:26 you can hear faintly "Bush did 9/11"
Ryan B you can in blue coats piccolo head cam from 2017 too
lmao yea i noticed that wtf
That's my band director! :))))
That's quite a cross-fit training session you do each show. :)
I had no idea Vanguard marched a pic the entire show in their mic'd ensemble - dash!
That is _such_ a muscular, strenuous show! Just amazing!
Please no videos of the run
12:26 though
no photo or video
*proceeds to take video*

Charles Dyall Thank you!
7:02 some random dude moaning
cool to see behind the scenes shots
picc: already pretty hard to do well
this show: also pretty hard to do well
some guy called "bill bronson" or something: lmao watch this
this is prob the first and only time a corp is gonna march piccolo trumpet
Absolutely insane.
It's so cool to see how hard these corps work, up close. Love that statement at 12:00.
That is just sick!! 😲🙇💪
Well done!
Amazing.

I believe it was for their 50th anniversary, they showed it for finals night.

@@arikakers350little did you know, the year after they won it all
You sound amazing dude
Thank you for the heart
So you marched piccolo trumpet
I saw my drum major! (Gage Cope) he says tuba
what i would give to march a whole show on picc, especially ouroboros that show slaps hard
12:10 that mello player is playing with her left hand, i tHOUGHT YOU COULD ONLY DO IT WITH YOUR RIGHT
it looks so wEirD AAAA
she fractured her third finger :(
Mello players typically play horn for concert and horn uses the left hand on the valves.
"Bush did 9-11" 😂
YASSSS
Hi mr burson

11:21 blizetta theme from Zelda!
What is the name of that mic on ur piccolo
So did you try out on piccolo or trumpet?
I originally auditioned on Bb Trumpet but was told there would possibly be Piccolo in the show after I mentioned that I have experience on Piccolo.
I'm an alum who went to DCI this year & Stanford. This show was AMAZING! All the alumni were definitely lov'in on our Cadet & A Corps! Congrats!!
Thanks for the ride Will! I marched with KC and we loved youse all so much. Tremendous breath control for intonation on that little beast, Vanguard!
Nice I see Bluecoats weren't the only one to use Bush doing 9/11😂😂
12:26 That’s all I’m going to say
You about the luckiest trumpet player on earth to get to march a picc and not a regular horn!!! No arm muscles needed!!!
WestJessTrumpetNerd Marching Picc is definitely not as easy as it looks, but you’re right!

Chris Nguyen there was 12 of us: 4 trumpets, 4 mellos, 4 baris

Taylor High School Sucks. Cavaliers stayed there during the beginning of tour
Does anyone know why the mellophone player at 12:08 is pushing the valves with her left hand? Just wondering. Sweet and impressive video by the way! Great playing, marching, dancing... prop maneuvering, etc
Maybe a stubborn Horn Player?
Andrew Walls or because she’s left handed? Fucking dip stick
She injured her hand from what I recall, sprained a finger I believe so to let her hand rest she played left handed :)
Why do I like 13:06 so much lol
bro he said no photos or videos of the run
12:26 “Bush did 911”

12:15 ish why are the two girls in frame playing with their left hands?
Nvm it was just the closest melo, I couldn't discern the far one too well. But still, why?
I can’t remember exactly what happened, but she fractured some bones in her right hand when she was hit by a rifle (I believe?) during rehearsal. Since she played such a big role in the show musically, she relearned the entire show on her left hand.
