Elliott is perhaps my favorite male idol contestant of all time. He's charismatic, incredibly talented and seems like a really sweet guy. He genuinely sings with heart.
He lost because he sang songs that were older and mostly forgotten about which is sad because the songs he chose were some amazing songs that should not be forgotten

Elliot Yamin took one of my favorite songs that I grew up on as a little girl in the 70s and sang it making it his own style while still paying true respect to Donny Hathaway's version. F.Y.I. This song was originally sung by the Carpenters . Their version is great as well. It's 2024, and I still love Elliott Yamin music. I still have his first CD and still play till this day. I still say Elliott Yamin was robbed!! Y4L !!! ❤😊

To this day, his sexy, raspy, soulful voice gives my chills... chills. And oh yes. I stopped watching American idol after this season as well, confident no one would or could EVER top Elliott Yamin. When considering the Idol "Winners" we've seen since, I believe my instincts were correct. So I thank you again for reminding me about Elliott. Yamin was eliminated from American Idol on May 17, 2006, after the tightest race; each of the three top contestants received an almost exactly equal percentage of the viewer votes necessary for advancement to the remaining two spots. Unfortunately :(
3rd place isn't bad. It was a tight race though. Least the people then were more talented than now and everyone used to watch the show...now nobody does

Absolutely the best AI performance ever - the show has not been nearly as good since. When I first saw Elliott perform this song live 2 years ago, I cried and got chills down my spine. The same happens to em every time I watch this video. Absolutely brilliant!!!
Elliot's still up there as one of my fave AIdol alumni ever! For me, their batch was the best season in terms of song choices and performances. I remember watching the final three, all finalists getting an equal share of 33% of votes. He lost to McPhee & Hicks by just a few points. But hey, look where it landed him! Don't need titles to get success. Am so proud of him! The fact that the him performing with one ear partially deaf, this guy's seriously amazing!!! Been a fan from day one!
I've met Elliott twice now and I've seen him perform live. He's an incredible gorgeous Singer live and was the sweetest most genuine person when I met him.
Wow. your so lucky I saw the American idol tour in 2006 season 5. I got to meet the top 10 then and I met Elliott too boy only that 1 time I first saw him outside before I went in the meet and greet and he said hi to me when I went inside there I love him

Notably in the beginning where its just strings and piano, and then 3:45 & 4:20. I get chills everytime I hear this song!
I have watched the show for years, and have come back to watch this performance numerous times. To date it's still my fav performance on the show, and one of my fav versions of the song ever.

HUGE fan of David Foster's music, but what a jerk he was to Elliott!! I wanted to punch him!! So mean to him. And at the end he says Elliott is "a good singer." Umm, David, I thought you knew real talent. Elliott is an INCREDIBLE singer, and Foster should be promoting him big time.

I adore his voice so much!! He has a flavor to his voice that I haven't heard from ANY artist is so long. I feel that record companies try to stifle the soul of the artist, but when they don't...a flavor like Elliott Yamin's is what you get!!
I was not an Elliott fan from the beginning BUT each week he grew and grew on me and towards the end he became my favorite! I was really said when he went home.
Every time I hear his amazing voice and delivery I suddenly remember - he is deaf in one ear! Astonishing. Love love love him! Only time I EVER called in a vote for Idol.
