This is a stunning version, The oboe intro, the crystalline soprano, the ethereal background voices and the menacing drum beats all add to a spine-chilling effect. A shame that Chloe omitted the 3rd verse which is the crux of the poem:- The people were saying that no two were wed But one had a sorrow that never was said And so she passed by with her goods and her gear And that was the last I saw of my dear.
I dont know whats wrong with me but I almost burst into tears when I see them doing this song. Such a beautiful thing, all of it. The women. Their voices. The sound. The stage setting. And that song is sublime. And Id like to marry that girl. Which one? Any of them
@Terry Blanton I meant her voice is in the audio but it's just not as audible as the other two since they sound similar I know that Meav only sang this in the first show I'm well aware of this since I made the video and I've also been a fan since the beginning
It is typically graceful of her, and also thoroughly appropriate, that Loreena McKennitt gives credit to the poet who composed the lyrics. In the introduction to "Collected Poems of Padraic Colum" (1953) John L. Sweeney writes of Colum that "oddly enough he will be remembered by many who (as Yeats noted) have never heard his name. At least one of his poems "She Moved Through the Fair", with an air composed by the late Herbert Hughes, has so securely acquired the status of folksong that it has been collected as such."
There are claims that this poem was many years older than he claimed to have written it and that at the very least he admitted that as a collector of folklore he did not write the poem in it’s entirety.
My young love said to me, "My mother won't mind And my father won't slight you for your lack of kind" And she stepped away from me and this she did say: It will not be long, love, till our wedding day" As she stepped away from me and she moved through the fair And fondly I watched her move here and move there And then she turned homeward with one star awake Like the swan in the evening moves over the lake Last night she came to me, my dead love came in So softly she came that her feet made no din As she laid her hand on me and this she did say "It will not be long, love, 'til our wedding day"
Do you know the translation of what the background singers are saying, as well? I"m somewhat guessing that it's the words "She moved through the fair" in Gaelic, but I would love to know! I wish they'd also had a verse of the song (at least one!) in Gaelic! :)
i did too... they have chemistry together just watch the skit in teir abhalie riu you cant help but laugh at them battle as 2 sisters go back and forth...
I agree, I probably should waste less time being negative I'm comment section, but alot of Celtic Woman's music makes we want to rip my ears off, it's way to goofy for my taste. Way too theatrical, sound cheese
That's personal preference. I find Celtic Woman, in particular Chloe and Meav to be 10x more enjoyable to listen. I couldn't even finish the Sinead version. No one has a better voice than Chloe (to me), especially during this era
Lovely haunting tune from yesteryear. Trying to be jazzed up an modernized . No. This version does Nothing For Me. Keep it Irish traditional. Otherwise before long you will have some Garbage Idiot Talentless Hip Hop Rapper Trying to do a version of a great song.

Beautiful harmony between all 3 ladies. Very well done.
Beautiful ❤️ music that floats through the air Fill my soul with love
Long live all the Celtic Women.🖖❤️

This is so beautiful how did they did this wow

Girls, this is gorgeous!!🎶🎶🎶🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Yes, Meav, Chloe and Lisa they are really very very good!
Chloe has matured into a very beautiful woman
Chloe was always a beautiful woman.
I imagine angels I have voices that sound as beautiful as these
That red curly hair rocks!!
That is Lisa Lambe
I love them very much ! They are very awesome !!!
I dont know whats wrong with me but I almost burst into tears when I see them doing this song. Such a beautiful thing, all of it. The women. Their voices. The sound. The stage setting. And that song is sublime. And Id like to marry that girl. Which one? Any of them
Nothing wrong with you - and you have impeccable taste!
this is a beautiful song sung beautifully you all get my vote
Wow, well put together. I like their version because they shorten it and you can forget the sadness of the original.
Well done. That settles it--MEAV owns "She Moved thru the Fair!
+perley314 Agreed !
Meav wasn't in the same show, in fact you can see a video of her performing the entire song alone. It is amazing.
@Terry Blanton She's in there they all have similar sounding voices though and I was afraid she wouldn't be noticed
@Terry Blanton I meant her voice is in the audio but it's just not as audible as the other two since they sound similar I know that Meav only sang this in the first show I'm well aware of this since I made the video and I've also been a fan since the beginning
Absolutely! They are all fabulous but MEAVS Control and placement is sublime!
I just want the original!
SOMEBODY please post it!
Méav all alone. 3:31 in length.

A haunting song done perfectly!
rubbish this is not haunting at all,it is a folk song not a dance track!!
The song She Moved Through The Fair was taken by the first ever instalment of Celtic Woman. meav ni mhaolchatha sang it.
Thank you very much for this video.
Eu amo Celtic Woman
Beautiful! xx
❤
Nice job!!
Like all Celtic woman , Chloe has a great voice and is getting prettier and prettier
Hear this in 1996 the Lord of the Dance but I like this version
My young love said to me, "My mother won't mind
And my father won't slight you for your lack of kind"
And she stepped away from me and this she did say:
It will not be long, love, till our wedding day"
As she stepped away from me and she moved through the fair
And fondly I watched her move here and move there
And then she turned homeward with one star awake
Like the swan in the evening moves over the lake
Last night she came to me, my dead love came in
So softly she came that her feet made no din
As she laid her hand on me and this she did say
"It will not be long, love, 'til our wedding day"
Kine, not kind 👍

@@gregw9351 It's called "mouth music". If you look up the video of only Meav singing it, she explains it in a comment.
@@jessicarupe9199 Thank you for the reply
Stimmen im Einklang und hübsche Frauen.
Very very amesing song
Lisa looks and sounds like a mermaid *.*
It's the long red hair

The backing vocal is called beatboxing. Can anyone supply the spelling of the lyrics. They are in Gaelic.
👍
Meav must make a recording with Sissel
Chloe and Lisa L own this song. No third wheel.
i did too... they have chemistry together just watch the skit in teir abhalie riu you cant help but laugh at them battle as 2 sisters go back and forth...
@@iseley It's truly Meav's song!! It will always be Meav's song!! But, I enjoyed this, too.
@@iseley This is a traditional song, not Méav's. LOL
They all have Beautiful Voices BUT.. editing Meav into this duet between Chloe & Lisa was..Distracting. And Annoying.
This is a mixture of 2 live performances done years apart. What's up with that?
I made it for a friend, she provided the arrangement
@@ericcobb1694 It just confused me, but it sounds great!
Is this the all about eve song ?
Nobody beats Sinead O'Connor singing this

That was my idea. I think the lip-synching must be in the right timing especially with the third verse.
Great job what a masterpiece. 😀👍💯
Deram um vestido feio para Lisa Lambe. O rosa da Cloé é mais bonito. Podiam ter dado o vice versa a cada.
Ahloa I’m shanebearddj ❤❤❤
Comparisons are odious.
not trying to compare them I just mixed the audios together and tried to make it a trio. I made it for a friend
@@Thedarkstar8912 i think it was really cool!
Wow she lost weight
Conor Mcgregor sent me here
Cool! Did he mention this song on something?

This is so over orchestrated, that it makes no sense. What is that ridiculous backing chorus for?
A Modern Lyric I Wrote To This Timeless Music
THEY WOKE THE DAWN EARLY
THEY WOKE THE DAWN EARLY
ON THE DAY TO KILL TRUTH
ON THE DAY THAT THEY PLANNED SO
TO MAKE LOVE NO USE
SO THEY CROWNED HIM WITH THORNS
THEN LED HIM AWAY
TO A HILL WITH THREE CROSSES
IN THE DAWN OF THAT DAY
TO A CROSS HIGH THEY NAILED HIM
THEY THOUGHT HE WOULD DIE
THEY THOUGHT EVIL HAD TRIUMPHED
THOUGHT LOVES TRUTH A LIE
SO LOST IN THEIR BLINDNESS
COULD NOT UNDERSTAND
LOVES TRUTH WAS BORN FOREVER
IN THE DAWN OF THAT DAY
THOUGH TIME LIES SO HEAVY
SINCE THEY THOUGHT HE WOULD DIE
THOUGH LOVES TRUTH IS ETERNAL
THOUGH HATE FILLS THIS WORLD
SO EACH MUST FIND LOVES TRUTH
AS WE MOVE THROUGH THIS LIFE
BUT KNOW HE WALKS WITH YOU
AS YOU MOVE TO THE LIGHT
THEY WOKE THE DAWN EARLY
ON THE DAY TO KILL TRUTH
ON THE DAY THAT THEY PLANNED SO
TO MAKE LOVE NO USE
SO THEY CROWNED HIM WITH THORNS
THEN LED HIM AWAY
TO A HILL WITH THREE CROSSES
IN THE DAWN OF THAT DAY
TO A HILL WITH THREE CROSSES
IN THE DAWN OF THAT DAY
