If you look closely there is some lip synching going on. @3:07 there is nobody moving their lips for 2 or three seconds while the singing continues (Lisa turns back around while she is "singing" and she's not actually moving her lips). I am a big fan of theirs, this is literally the studio recorded version. Every note, every little thing is dead on. That's not possible with live music. I'm not knocking them, its very, very common for live music performances.
@Nonya I think it might be possible from what I've seen in other comments that this particular audio isn't from this particular event but at the actual event they were live?
I love how the first girl interacts with the audience. Her dancing with that one little girl was so nice, and I thought it was funny when she took that one guy’s hat.
@@skadi6750 I had a hard time believing it too, but they apparently DO perform live every time. For example the violin player has fallen over during performances, resulting in horrible violin sounds etc. Also comparing the vocals to the studio version, there are definitely differences there. This video does have some inconsistent cuts though, so the video might have been compiled from multiple performances, but yeah, as far as I know, they really sound this good live.
I do believe this is a live concert, but I definitely understand the doubt, with Mairead's large history of pre-recorded performances. Singers are most definitely live if you look closely enough and have a good understanding of music.
Exactly. Irish history is full of heartbreak and suffering offset by serious partying, dancing, singing, drinking. It's how they coped with 800 years of oppression and impossible, rocky soil, constant rain, and a short, difficult life. What a resilient culture!
Dúlamán has EVERY in-between. Research into that song, as well as modern applications of it, have proven it to be extensively layered. It's about survival, adaptation, foreign influence being both a good and a bad thing, forbidden love, and, of course, seaweed.
I agree with you for the most part, but I would like you to check out Come and be welcome, which I believe was originally from somewhere around the border between Ireland and Scotland
I'm Irish Scottish English with a sprinkle of German but I'm manly English and Irish which is why I think my mom found me dancing to this (the right way) at 3 in the morning
The violinist's skill in moving around the stage and dancing so theatrically, all the while keeping up the playing, is honestly incredible. Edit: I no longer believe this is live sound lmao
Plus Linsey is more into dubstep music :) as PaganBorn says lindsey is good but shes got quite a while before she catches up with violinist Mairéad Nesbitt Lindsey probably got a lot of inspiration from Mairéad. :)
I love the way that the transition from vocables/lilting in the beginning as a full conversation, to the fiddle as bridge to the english of the main bit of the song gives the illusion that they were on just the other side of some linguistic veil then suddenly, the violin’s magic allows us to understand them. I know that the lilting is not actual a language, but this is the only they could really achieve this effect in what is like a mixed Irish/English speaking audience, and it was done so effectively!
The lilting is known as mouth music. When Britain occupied and ruled over Ireland, they introduced draconian and brutal laws against Irish people known as The Penal Laws. These were laws specifically designed to destroy Irish culture and make Irish people destitute. The Penal Laws banned Irish people from doing many things. One of the things they banned were musical instruments. The British tried to destroy Irish culture and thought they could succeed by not allowing them play their cultural music. Frequently, breaking such draconian laws could frequently result in a summary execution of that person. The Irish resisted, determined to keep their culture alive and created musical sounds and rhythms with their mouths for people to sing along to and dance to. At the beginning of the song, not only is it an excellent musical choice but Celtic Woman are also honouring a very important and immensely proud part of our cu.tural history.
@@ItsmeeSaoirse I didn't actually know that's actually a thing (lilting) I thought it was an actual part of the song but in a language I don't understand because I'm not Celtic myself
You can almost understand that they're arguing like I had no idea what was called but I can almost picture what they were saying is if they were real words it's adorable I love it absolutely love it
As an American who’s just recently heard this song for the first time with no background or understanding of what this song means it’s the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
me too. this song makes me actually cry every time I listen to it. it's such a p u r e emotion that I cant even describe. this is also probably the most amazing song I've ever heard. its beautiful
It's about a family. The redhead is the flighty daughter, want's to head off into town ( Galway ) to meet the sailors for some fun. The fair headed girl is the sensible daughter telling her to forget about it, reminding her that she has work to do in the morning. The blonde woman is the mother trying to keep the peace. And the bald headed bloke is the father saying it's nothing to do with me. Sortof like the Cinderella story.
That’s Celtic folk music for you. It’s honestly my favorite cultural folk music (I’m also incredibly biased because Scottish and Irish are a substantial part of my heritage)
As an Irish person, I am in love with this song the melody, the instruments and the lyrics I love the culture of Ireland the food and the scenery. One of the best places to live in. Edit: thank you so much for 907 likes i wasn't expecting that I appreciate it
I'm Irish but I live in England now. My connection to Ireland has grown stronger if that is even possible. We have an incredibly rich culture and it is so wonderful to know that people from all over the word are entranced by Irish culture. I am so so happy and proud to be Irish.
@@bosbosqueen9144 It's called "beal ceoil" in irish literally "mouth music". They are just sounds used to convey a feeling, in this case an argument between family members. They have no actual meaning.
Lisa ( who looks like Merida, in the brownish dusty purple dress) a teenager who wants to run away with a sailor Chloë( who looks like Rapunzel? The red dress with long hair) The older sister who wants to keep her sister preserved Susan( who looks like Elsa, Purple dress) the mother of the 2 daughters
The Irish part means: "Go home with them, go home with them go home with them, Mary. Go home and stay at home because a bargain has been made." Historically, the song means that the reason she can't consort with sailors is that she has been betrothed, usually at birth in the old times, and to someone she has no interest in, who may be more than twice her age. Many Irish songs seem happy but are quite sad. The ones, like this one about not wanting to have to go through with an arranged marriage that doesn't take the young woman's needs or feelings into account, are usually extra sad. This one looks happy on the surface, but she is consigned to a life of little more than slavery. Running off with a random sailor who at least may be her age may seem like a possible way out, but she'll never see her family again, and they need her help to survive. Maybe they need this marriage so they can all survive. Underlying Irish songs is this constant theme of hardship, poverty, and inevitability. She will go back and take her proper place in society and will bear it all as best she can, or, in other songs, she will die of "grief" on her wedding night, by poisoning herself or throwing herself into a river. There's a saying that goes something like, "Ah the Irish must be mad for his wars are happy and his songs are sad." There are variations.
This is actually helped out by the musical context created by the instruments. The verses about dancing and looking for the man she wants are in a joyous Bb major, and the skng switches to the relative minor key, G minor to indicate a serious turn. Edit: after listening to it again it's actually Bb minor. My bad
That last saying makes me wonder. Maybe, knowing the history, "his wars are happy" because they're fighting for their freedom (adds purpose). "His songs are sad" because they've been oppressed for so long. The English (which I assume the saying was by, in the first place) couldn't understand it from an outsider's view.
I’m American but recently found out my heritage is mainly Irish and Scottish which makes sense as to why I’ve always been drawn to Irish things.. I would LOVE to learn Gaelic. I already speak Spanish and it would be so cool to learn the language of my bloodline! It’s hard to find where to learn Gaelic though
Chloe and Lisa are absolutely brilliant in this intro. It's the acting and their stage presence what makes this lineup so great. Basically, all CW members are excellent singers, always have been, but Lisa is also an excellent actress and it shows. Chloe is just adorable; she always looks like she is having the time of her life on stage.
Sarah Irwin I thought the same but it seems Disney is not interested in Princess movies, the only way they will go back is if their is demand for it, Frozen and the recent live action remake of Cinderella definitely helped. Although I here their current project is a live action remake of Mulan.
lordmasterization I loved Frozen. I was happy to see a newer idea, and not another remake. I know it was similar to the Ice Queen fairy tale, but it wasn't Cinderella 4, or Little Mermaid 5. Disney needs to keep that momentum! Chloes voice is perfect for any role though. 😄
Out of all the women that have been a part of Celtic Woman, these 4 ladies are definitely my favorite line up! Mairead is beautiful on the violin, and Lisa, Chloe and Susan all have such flawless beautiful voices that harmonize so well.
There's something so wonderful and dynamic about this lineup. They each give something different and create such wonderful stories together. By far my favourite.
I’ve seen a couple videos of them preforming this song and this is my fav cause the way they start it, almost like a argument, adds a little whimsey to it and makes it more fun to watch
i always laugh chloe in her big sister role its so fun. when this was performed in bethel ny during the emerald era chloe sat next to me as she began her banter with lisa i loved it xd!!

Is there actually someone that wouldn't love to be in a pub with these women singing and dancing the night away together? Natural beauties with amazing voices and great actresses. Truly an enchanting combination that would have this American guy falling over himself.
Tbh I don't think they're singing live for the entire song. Between 3:08 to 3:11 if you look closely it's pretty obvious that she's lipsyncing. They are singing live for sure, but I think the majority of parts where they dance and when there's lots of movement are all pre-recorded.
4:32 The lights of the town are blinding you The sailors they come and they go But listen to what's reminding you Handsome men surrounding you Dancing a reel around you Most beautiful part
You can see that the woman in the purple dress is or was a professional musical singer by her style of singing and her facial impressions, she is really good. It's also my favourite party by far.
I'm irish and am so so proud of being irish. Watching this and many other irish songs being introduced to the world by Celtic Woman and and other artists, in such fun and energetic way fillls my proud irish heart with with pure joy. And to know they bring joy to people around the world is wonderful. Go raibh míle maith agaibh, mo cháirde go léir timpeall ár ndomhan
They are enchanting no matter what they sing, whether it's the other ones or the new era they sound like they are magic, I bet u do too love to get to know you
The melody: enchanting, ethereal, fey-like The lyrics: every rational part of me knows it's a terrible idea to have casual sex with random sailors in port towns but by God I'm gonna do it anyway This is why Ireland is the greatest country on earth
Normally I'm not a fan of live performances with bands or groups, especially with multiple singers, but they sounds so lovely. The sound, the music, everything is so crisp and beautiful!
Choose your venue carefully, saw them in the Symphony Hall Birmingham England lately but when I see something like the above I feel the Birmingham venue hadn't the size or capacity which suited their abilities.
I would love to see them too. But I have trouble getting around in the downtown area. I don't like open spaces. There is a nice performing arts center in the suburbs not far from where I live, but Celtic Woman performs at the large theater downtown. I have a balance problem and depth perception distortion, so cities are intimidating for me. I am a suburbanite. When I'm outdoors, I prefer to be as close to the trees as possible. To make a long story short, my balance problem and depth perception distortion is why I have not been to see Celtic Woman even though they visited my local metro area twice in the last few years.
Everyone else has commented on how good their voices are, their dresses, how one's hair looks like Merida's from Brave, how hot the tap dancer was, questioning whether this was Irish or Scottish, but what I'M wondering........... ........... HOW THE HECK DOES SOMEONE PLAY A SPOON?!?!??! 3:17 Edit: Holy shit, I did not expect this comment to get 1.1K likes.....
Oh, my! I FINALLY realized Lisa is left-handed. She wears her mic in her left ear and she's playing the spoons with her left hand. As a fellow lefty, this just makes me happy.
Ray Fean is a lefty as well. As a percussionist myself, and someone with experience playing the bodhran, it is much easier for me to play it with my dominant hand as the main hand (the hand you see). He uses his left hand, which tells me that he is likely a lefty as well.
Tonight 27th Dec 2014 after 6 months of watching various videos of CW, I came to the conclusion that Lisa is a leftie. But my revelation came by her throwing the hat she stole to a dancer as they arrived on stage from the auditorium. To me as a righty it looked a very awkward manoeuvre. And as I just scrolled down I saw your post!
Okay that she wears her mic in her left ear I saw the first time in this video. In some others she wears it like the others on the right side.. I'm not sure why I only notice such things always after reading comments like this :D
That Lisa Lambe with that flaming red hair steals the show. She is so talented and really pretty. Chloe is an amazing little actress, not to mention her beautiful voice.
Lisa is undoubtedly the star, and she is as gifted a performer as they come. For me personally, she was the one bright spot in this special, which otherwise was fairly disappointing compared to past ones.
Yes, so many of the women that I really loved have left the cast. Such as Maev, Orla and the original Lisa. Chloe is still there, but I think I read that she is also leaving.
I remember my grandmother singing stuff like in the beginning of this song when I was a child...and in her final years (2006 at 94 years) she would sometimes sing similar pieces of songs...the melodies also very similar to this. She would have loved to see and hear this performance....somehow, I know she sings still.
I love all the comments saying 'This is so much better than the music today" A) this song isn't generations old. B) Do you as commenters realize this song is sung by a teen daughter, her mother, and her mother's friend/sister, and it's about the teen girl wanting to go off on her own, find her own "fun' with all the handsome sailor men, and avoid doing the work it would take to make her mother happy? By the ending verse, she's home to " dance until dawn." She's had her fun and is ready to grow up." I love this group, their music, and the culture that they represent, hailing with a Celtic background myself, I think these ladies have a wonderful fan-base, and I wish others who claimed to appreciate the culture through their music, would also read up on the culture and daily practices, it really is a beautiful way to live, and honestly no one is better for listening to Celtic Music, it just proves you have a particular taste, it dos not make one more sophisticated or cultured, just enjoy the pretty music
The song is in fact generations old. The biggest difference between their version of it and the traditional version is their translation of the gaelic. the music and the gaelic are however a traditional irish folk song.
Oh. I thought it was just a woman and her friends. I didn't realize it was a teen and a mother and her friend. This new context gives me an entirely new perspective..
Chloe has always been a singer, even as a preteen. I don't know of any acting jobs she has done. Lisa, on the other hand, has acted in several plays and musicals in Ireland and even met her husband Simon Morgan while doing the musical "Sweeny Todd" several years ago.
When I watch this, I cried because it reminded of the time when me of my grandmother and I used to watch Celtic Woman on Foxtel, May the Lord rest her I miss you, Nanna Jude. 😢😊
Sorry for your loss. My grandmother passed a few years back and she used to sing (lilting) when cooking or working in the garden and even just before she died at 94 years. When she sung, it seemed to take her away somewhere, beautiful no doubt. May our grandmothers be hearing the beautiful music that moved hearts together.
Everyone in this whole performance knew their part and carried it out without falter. I couldn’t stop smiling till the music stopped!!! I wish I could’ve been raised Celtic
One of the most delightful and beautifully done songs by Celtic Woman. It is not an easy type of song to sing. Then again this is Celtic Woman and I would expect only the best by them. I would like to see the original group for one main reason. They were my introduction to one of the very best group of singers male or female I have ever heard !!
This was so much fun..the opening where they were arguning in the audience. Seemed like the song was about sisters who were trying to convince the "wild one" to stay home and marry a "nice boy", rather than going to town for a "hookup". Who doesn't have a sister, cousin or friend you despair of who is a little "fast" and you've had a similar experience with them. They made it so entertaining and enjoyable. The musicians and dancers were having a great time performing and drew the audience right in with them. That's what makes a concert special.
As desperate as I am for a girlfriend, I always liked nice girls. A fast girl asked me out once and I told her to take a hike. This was years ago but I still remember. Unfortunately all the nice girls I have fallen in love with since I came out have been either hetero or taken. Wish me the luck of the Irish that I meet someone soon. I have been out for a decade. (Sorry if this comment is off topic or irrelevant.)
I have watched this over and over countless times. It's really unfortunate that a CD was made of this concert. The banter between Lisa and Chloe is awesome. It really highlights their talent not to mention the royalties that could have been made on the sale of CD and DVDs of this concert in it's entirety. Lisa, Chloe and Susan were my favorite 3 singers. They sang so well together.

@@Ronnet well but between this video and the movie lord of the dance that I saw are also a few years. And she still looks pretty young today when you look at recent photos. But it's more her youthful spirit than her actual appearance
@@scarlettvi4642I’ve been listening to Celtic Woman for yearsssss. She has been apart of the group so long. Between her earlier years and time of this filming she does indeed look so young, and has such youthful energy. I definitely get what you mean. Perhaps that person is a new listener
I had a crush on these ladies ever since I was in middle school. Their specials used to play on our local PBS station at least once a year if not more. 4 of the most beautiful women on the planet on one stage is something I'll never forget.
The roles I picture the three playing based on their performances in the beginning: Lisa is the headstorng teenager with dreams of marrying a sailor. Chloë is her more responsible elder sister, possibly having already settled down with a family of her own. Susan would be their mother, working with Chloë to convince Lisa to stay at home.
they are portraying a typical Irish family with two head strong sisters arguing ,one practical, the other dreamy and stead fast mom in the middle with the dad at wis end as to what to do with them.
That is actually how I started, I wanted be the violin player for Celtic Woman, and I know that is not going to happen for me...😬 I can't even play that well, I lost my touch😞
The blonde with the red/purple dress: a strong powerful voice that she can make it sound like she is shouting The red head in the brown dress:Does most of the ‘acting’ and is really good at doing rolls and flicks The blonde in the purple dress:A softer voice that is still loud and so enchanting
Chloe is the blonde with facial expressions she's been around since the beginning Lisa is a irish actor who joined them for a couple of tours she's the red head and the other blonde I can't remember her name she replaced one of the original members
The ladies in their dresses just flow like water. Its feels like I'm watching a river. Idk if that makes sense to anyone else. The first part where they were walking the aisles they were like bubbling brooks merging into the river
I have always just heard Chloes angelic, innosent singing, the power she has in her voice is amazing in the beginning. I was really baffled that she can do such a performance! I really loved their play in the beginning. The song itself came second to it this time.
I prefer this version of the girls performing the song over the newer girls performance of the song as these girls actually put their hearts into performing
I'm Irish and I'm immensely proud of my culture but what warms my heart more than anything in this video is seeing the young girl in the red dress dancing 4:00 and the older smiling girl singing along to the song 4:50. That is what music is all about.
In all my years of using youtube, this is probably my first comment ever. But I just have to thank you, all of you, for making this. I only really discovered Irish/Celtic music a couple days ago, but I am absolutely obsessed. This hit me in ways I can't describe, it fills my heart with a pure, calm feeling that is so much more and can't be written down in words. I live in a completely different corner of the world and I doubt you'd ever come here and I doubt I'd ever be able to see a performance of yours live, but after seeing this I so desperately wish to. After listening to this, I just stop listening to other music for a while and just drown in the memory of it, it feels so damn good, I can forget all other problems in my life. I myself don't understand how a song whose lyrics don't even relate to me touches me so, but here I am.

Do you know Lindsey Stirling?
@@flames1058 lindsey stirling is a performer. But Mairéad Nesbitt is a godess.
@@flames1058 I invite you to take a look at celtic dueling violins and strings of fire.
Flames...Lindsey is good, and with time will rival the best of them. With that said, Lindsey (at this juncture) doesn’t hold a candle to Nesbitt.

This version of this song is now my favorite because of the "argument" at the beginning!
That was the same for me, until I heard the all Irish one (No English verses) that captured my soul
I love how I have no clue what they’re saying, but still feel like I understand all of it
It's called lilting. It's an Irish tradition where they sing syllables in a theatrical way
same and i like the tap dancing
Where can I find that version please?
The start is actually an Irish tradition called lilting!
If only all sibling arguments were this beautiful.
I told my daughter that and now she asks me at least once a day to play the lilting song
Thanks for telling ! Very interesting :)
huh! the more you know
You can almost understand that they're arguing like I had no idea what was called but I can almost picture what they were saying is if they were real words it's adorable I love it absolutely love it
As an American who’s just recently heard this song for the first time with no background or understanding of what this song means it’s the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
I completely agree. I found these people recently and the music makes me so inspired and happy. It's just music you gotta dance to! It's so beutiful.
me too. this song makes me actually cry every time I listen to it. it's such a p u r e emotion that I cant even describe. this is also probably the most amazing song I've ever heard. its beautiful
Yes

Where can I find its lyrics? If you may please?
th-cam.com/video/5K4TIQXCmPQ/w-d-xo.html Christine Cuerdo here you go
Even arguments sound more poetic in Gaelic.
@@christinecuerdo222 they aren't singing words, they are singing notes of a sort. There are no lyrics to the first part.
The Irish part means:
"Go home with them, go home with them go home with them, Mary.
Go home and stay at home because a bargain has been made."
Historically, the song means that the reason she can't consort with sailors is that she has been betrothed, usually at birth in the old times, and to someone she has no interest in, who may be more than twice her age.
There's a saying that goes something like, "Ah the Irish must be mad for his wars are happy and his songs are sad."
There are variations.
I was wondering what context the song had~ thanks to you, I solved it!
Thank you. I want to listen to more Irish music. I hope you have a good day!

Ray Fean is a lefty as well. As a percussionist myself, and someone with experience playing the bodhran, it is much easier for me to play it with my dominant hand as the main hand (the hand you see). He uses his left hand, which tells me that he is likely a lefty as well.

I love when whats her name the red haired one stole the hat siting on the mans lap in the opening.
Ella Nightfall her name is lisa. She's so pretty
Indeed. Thank you.
Ella Nightfall I like how he throws his arms up like he’s telling his wife “hey look at my hands, look at my hands, not touching.”
I know I'm late. But Celtic Woman never disappoint. Just wow. 😭😍
So, this is where all the happy people live
aka ireland lmao come visit some time :)
I love not the only this song but the way they managed to tell a story with the performance even in the beginning of where there were no words.
These women, the band earn EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR they got paid and more. Such a professional, outstanding performance
The CD/DVD is called Emerald Musical Gems and was released in 2014.
I can barely understand the damn song but it's so beautiful I play it over and over
Same here !!
Same
Yeah me too it’s lovely but I sure as hell don’t speak Gaelic (?)

"Téir Abhaile Riú"
Look how the light of the town
the lights of the town are shining now
Tonight I'll be dancing around
I'm off on the road to Galway now
Look how she's off on the town
She's off on a search for sailors though
There's fine fellas here to be found
She's never been one to stay at home
Home you'll go and it's there you'll stay
And you've work to do in the morning
Give up your dream of going away
Forget your sailors in Galway
Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú Mhearai
Téir abhail gus fan sa bhaile
Mar tá do mhargadh déanta
Come now and follow me down
Down to the lights of Galway where
There's fine sailors walking the town
And waiting to meet the ladies there
Watch now he'll soon be along
He's finer than any sailor so
Come on now pick up your spoons
He's waiting to hear you play them WHOOO!
Here today and she's gone tomorrow
And next she's going to Galway
Jiggin' around and off to town
And won't be back until morning
Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú Mhearai
Téir abhail gus fan sa bhaile
Mar tá do mhargadh déanta
Off with a spring in my step
The sailors are searching Galway for
A young lady such as myself
For reels and jigs and maybe more
Stay here and never you mind
The lights of the town are blinding you
The sailors they come and they go
But listen to what's reminding you
Handsome men surrounding you
Dancing a reel around you
Home you'll go and it's there you'll stay
And you've work to do in the morning
Give up your dream of going away
Forget your sailors in Galway
Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú Mhearai
Téir abhail gus fan sa bhaile
Mar tá do mhargadh déanta
Listen to the music flow
I'm falling for the flow of home
I'm home to dance till dawning
Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú Mhearai
Téir abhail gus fan sa bhaile
Mar tá do mhargadh déanta
Stay a while and we'll dance together now
As the light is falling
We'll reel away till the break of day
And dance together till morning
Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú Mhearai
Téir abhail gus fan sa bhaile
Mar tá do mhargadh déanta
Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú
Téir abhaile riú Mhearai
Téir abhail gus fan sa bhaile
Mar tá do mhargadh déanta
do Mhargadh de - do mhargadh déanta
Thank you!
I need to find the phonetic lyrics for the Gaelic
Téir abhaile riú, téir abhaile riú téir abhaile riú mhearai téir abhaile gus fan sa bhaile mar tá do mhargadh déanta
Go home, go home, go home, go home, go home to stay at home because your market is done
Are they saying something at the beginning... Or just... La la la...?? Or humming
aaaaand this is the commebt i was looking for!
the fact that the violinist played on lord of the dance back then and haven't aged one bit is such a mystery to me. Love her!
The video is a decade old. Curious how video can do that "no aging" thing.
Perhaps that person is a new listener
i love how at 0:49 she just picks up the small child
same
it was probably planned before the show even started
Yes.
Local Children Abducted by Singing Irish Women! Read all about it!
Helen Otis I know right. She does it like it's nothing XD
I love how much passion is there ; not only by the singers and dancers but also the people who play the instruments
I could write a story just listening to this song. My creative juices are positively flowing right now.
+Eela “Multi-Fandom” Patts oh my me too! :D
same here! I'm literally on the bus listening to this and my hands are itching for my journal xD
Me, too, my friend
I thought I was only one who did that! 😂
I DID write a story because of this song xD
I had a crush on these ladies ever since I was in middle school. Their specials used to play on our local PBS station at least once a year if not more. 4 of the most beautiful women on the planet on one stage is something I'll never forget.
The roles I picture the three playing based on their performances in the beginning:
Lisa is the headstorng teenager with dreams of marrying a sailor.
Chloë is her more responsible elder sister, possibly having already settled down with a family of her own.
Susan would be their mother, working with Chloë to convince Lisa to stay at home.
This is correct. Having met the three artists responsible and asked, I know this for sure.
they are portraying a typical Irish family with two head strong sisters arguing ,one practical, the other dreamy and stead fast mom in the middle with the dad at wis end as to what to do with them.
Susan would not like being called their "mother".
She is young.
Susan's older brother is Brian McFadden from Westlife .
I'm kind of wishing she didn't stay home, so she can follow her dreams and her sailors ;-)
@@veronika4870 I should have joined the navy and based in Galway,
and i wanna learn violin because of these celtic musics.....
msk did you do it?
That is actually how I started, I wanted be the violin player for Celtic Woman, and I know that is not going to happen for me...😬 I can't even play that well, I lost my touch😞
Everyone who has been in Celtic Woman are truly amazing. I am so envious that I cannot sing but each one has the voice of an angel.
The blonde with the red/purple dress: a strong powerful voice that she can make it sound like she is shouting
The red head in the brown dress:Does most of the ‘acting’ and is really good at doing rolls and flicks
The blonde in the purple dress:A softer voice that is still loud and so enchanting
Chloe is the blonde with facial expressions she's been around since the beginning Lisa is a irish actor who joined them for a couple of tours she's the red head and the other blonde I can't remember her name she replaced one of the original members
The other blonde's name is Susan McFadden.
The ladies in their dresses just flow like water. Its feels like I'm watching a river. Idk if that makes sense to anyone else. The first part where they were walking the aisles they were like bubbling brooks merging into the river
01:06 The part where Lisa just sits on the man's lap and takes his cap to wear it always cracks me up. XD
Yes! You know it had to have made that guy's night!
@@cynthiastrong463 Haha, no. I didn't meant it that way.
@@Leto85 darlin I get that but in my experience a pretty girl seating on a guy's lap is usually an ego booster
@@cynthiastrong463 Same counts for being called 'darlin' by a pretty girl. 😉
Mine too! It's kind of a heartwarming AND exquisite AND funny performance, isn't it? I would love to go to one! You?
I have always just heard Chloes angelic, innosent singing, the power she has in her voice is amazing in the beginning. I was really baffled that she can do such a performance!
I really loved their play in the beginning. The song itself came second to it this time.
I… can’t…. Stop… watching this!!!
My love for this music is so powerful ❤and these women have me hypnotised 😵💫
Yesss
That blonde girl gives me chills with her strong, powerful, voice. I love them all
Madokami nothing... and I repeat nothing... on this green planet, is more terrifying than an angry Celtic woman...
October 2019 anyone? I just cant get enough of this song😭😭😭❤❤😍😍😍
I prefer this version of the girls performing the song over the newer girls performance of the song as these girls actually put their hearts into performing
Same, the songs of the homeland are calling
💚💚💚😎💚💚💚
Saaaame
Aye gotta love these. Would pick this over today's modern music.
I loved how the girls acted mad at each other.
Me too I think it was the red headed woman making it look like chloë Agnew was always being dramatic and wanting attention 😂😂
@Misty Uren they don't do drugs
There's something about these girls singing Gaelic that make me just dreaming and moves me and make me wanna dance and it is just so fascinating
I need the first 2 minutes of this on repeat. Their voices are so amazing.
THEY ARE HAVING SUCH A GOOD TIME I LOVE IT
I’m French and i discovered this since one week and i can’t get enough ! Irish music is too cool😍
What's wrong with those 270 people? How could anyone give a thumb down to a masterpiece like that?
Lily *They're picky*
They weren't allowed to go to the Gaeli (the dance or whatever) - thats why
@@kennethskou5597 oh, *that's* why. I should have known.
Ha ha. :-) Do you know how to spell the word?? English is not my native language. :-)
@@kennethskou5597 English is my native language; so I don't know how to spell that word if it's Irish Gaelic.
I love how they interact with the audience to show that they love who supports them
I'm Irish and I'm immensely proud of my culture but what warms my heart more than anything in this video is seeing the young girl in the red dress dancing 4:00 and the older smiling girl singing along to the song 4:50.
I myself don't understand how a song whose lyrics don't even relate to me touches me so, but here I am.
those voice...freaking amazing, the combination
