I bought the V6 because it was what I could afford. Mine is a 1LT and the V6 is the only option it was specked with. I love it. This car is as powerful as a 4th gen WS6 Trans Am, which is still a legendary car to this day. Of course the WS6 can be modded for a lot more power where my V6 is pretty much where it will always be. But I am extremely happy with it. When I compare these cars to what we were driving when I was a teenager (I am 60) I compare the T4 to a high performance 327, the V6 to a LT1 (we are talking early 70s here), and the V8 to a 455. Back in the day you could get a Camaro with an inline 6. Now THAT was a sleepy engine. I think that is where the "if it aint a V8 it aint a Camaro" mindset came from. That just isn't true anymore. In today's world, if it is a Camaro, it is fast.

Good work, I just got the 2015 LS, could not resist the deal. Was literally half the price of the V8 models. And the best thing is still 323hp... which is pretty much what stock corvettes had up till the late 90's

I know this video is old now, but I started with a v6 mustang, dealt with the haters for 3 1/2 years, bought a 392 charger which turned into a huge money pit (cam and lifter failure), and recently switched into a 5th gen camaro 2ss convertible. Really liking the chevy so far!

Anthony 0369 When can you use that extra power if you aren't on the track though? I'm sure it's fun, but can you use the power on your daily drive?

I will never sell my Camaro it's fast enough for me , BUT does not mean I won't buy a 6 gen V8 in the future .

@STREET SHARKS BEDFORD POINT it's really not "Waste of money" . its honestly a" Waste of a Fast car"...I myself was going for an SS 1Le, I just realized halfway through the sale I didn't really need 455 hp and a track pack....so I bought a 1LT RS with a V6. Not as fast? yes, but not a waste of a track car (and gas).

I bought a 2018 2.0 turbo, I wanted the look and feel of a camaro for my daily driver and yet fuel efficiency as well, went with the tech package and black rims. Which was exactly what I wanted. I will be upgrading my exhaust in the near future for more sound. But I’m very happy with my first camaro. Keep up the great work Lethal

I want to get an SS but it can be the 2SS or 1SS, it doesn’t matter. Yes, I think V8 is better but V6 ain’t bad at all. It’s great & everything is amazing, but I do like the sound of a V8. It’s more meatier, more aggressive, it growls when you rev it & I love the muscle sounds. My dad installed a muffler that made our family car sound really aggressive & I loved those types of sounds ever since. So I would want a V8 for the power, the rush & the muscular sound. The interior doesn’t really matter to me so I could go with 2SS or 1SS. But I want a V8 Camaro

I went from a 2010 Buick Lacrosse CXL with 255 HP to a 2017 1SS Camaro. The dealership tried to sell me the RS; but it didn't seem to have the power I was looking for. At this time, I love the power of my 1 SS... it reminds me of 2007 Honda CBRR 1000.

My first car, and camaaro, was the a 2018 1ls with the inline 4 turbo with a 6 speed manual. Its been a blast and ive loved it. my end goal for this car is 5-600 wheel horsepower which from looking around doesnt seem impossible, with some effort of course.

I went with a 2SS with MRC and could not be happier. Im not a large guy at all of 5'7" so the car fits me like a glove with 455 hp. Its fast and fun and still manages to break 20 mpg with all that power.

I have the 2014 RS automatic.... I bought it for the looks and all the features.......cause my buddy's C7 ZR1 scared the shit out of me!!! I drive it once every two weeks maybe, but when I do, it makes an interstate cruz so enjoyable! 75 to 100mph is my favorite part! A couple weeks ago, I DROVE it for the first time. I went up into the mountains, put it manual and used the paddles to do some canyon carving!!! It was so much fun!!! the car stuck to the road so well I scared myself!!! 25 mph corner at 55. You can have SO much fun in a V6. I dont think the V8 would have felt the same on that road with the extra 200Lbs. in the front end. Love my RS.

Enjoying your content a lot. About six months ago I decided to buy another Camaro as soon as my family ride is paid off. If all works out, that will be April of 2019. That being said, I will be buying an 1SS1LE. Now, I am not 100% sold on the 2019 refresh yet but after having seen a couple "live" videos of the 2019 in the wild, it is growing on me a bit. (I doubt there will be many new 2018's still on the lot come April of 2019). I've had two Camaros in the past (a '72 RS, and a 2010 SS manual in Inferno Orange). I loved the SS and thought it was a beast... I am giddy about hopping into a 1LE. I've been watching your videos (as well as a few other pretty prominent Camaro vloggers) and your insights, tech info, and suggestions have been great. I may even post some videos one day down the road. Keep up the good work.

What do you recommend for an everyday all year round kind of car? Everyone keeps giving me crap for wanting a Camaro but I really like the way they look and it’s my dream car. But I also want to make a responsible decision. Should I be worried that it won’t perform well in more intense weather conditions? Please help btw thanks for all the info!

I bought a new V6 LS back in 2015. Would I have rather had the V8? Yes but, I bought what I could afford at the time. I'm sure having a good time adding extras to my LS though and learning quite abit about these new camaros along the way. my thought process is the 1LT v6 with the RS package is the sweet spot for someone like me who will not take the car to the drag strip. It has plenty of real world power for passing on the highway, looks great, still decent on gas, and doesn't break the bank overall. Plus with the 6 speed it's still plenty fun to drive daily.
    Edit: RS package**

In 2018 I bought a 2017 triple black 2SS Camaro from a dealer. It came with 11,000 miles on it , WOW in one year. I've had it for 4 months and just broke the 1000 mile mark with me as the owner. Its super clean, not a flaw on it. Eating, drinking or smoking is not allowed inside the car but,,, ROMPIN' down on the throttle is greatly enjoyed. The V8 combined with the 8sp auto trans is amazing. If I'm easy on the throttle it gets good gas mileage, it even goes to running on 4 cylinders if a constant speed is held. The ability have all the power I need is also there, just add throttle, its amazing. 455HP and trans can be shifted to manual mode and paddles behind the steering wheel can be used. Awesome car, I will take good care of it and someday trade it in as a good down payment on a upgrade.

I placed an order for the i4 with all options and a drop-top after I got a quote from my insurance agent for the V8. A bad-ass looking cabrio with 275HP and an 0-60mph time under 6sec doesn't really sound like such a compromise to me. :)

I got a 2017 4 cylinder turbo a few years ago and I love this car. It’s great on gas and it gets me from point A to point B. Now in the future I would love to save up for a 2lt RS or a 1ss. Something that has the leather seats and heated seats and the Bose speakers. But this is my first Camaro and if any one wants to go buy a 4 cylinder don’t be afraid to. It’s a great car and it will also last forever!

Great video Matt. I just recently just bought the 2017 V6 1LT about 2 weeks ago. The reason why I bought this car is because the first time I seen the 2017 camaro I fell in love with it because the 6th gen camaros have a way different look from the older camaros. I could have bought a 2010-2012 SS camaro but I didn't want to get one because they look basic. I been driving my camaro on the daily and I love it . This was a big upgrade from my previous Car which was a 2012 Hyundai Sonata.

I bought a 2012 45th SS 6 speed because I absolutely loved the anniversary package. The stripes, the leather stitching and embroidering. Still my favorite Camaro to date. The console gauge cluster and the “modern 69 SS” look I have always loved.

I bought a 2LT turbo 2 litre and love it. Gas mileage is awesome and lots of power. I owned a 70 TA with a little over 850 hp and while it was insane and was virtually the fastest thing around, I ended up selling it when I was down to 1 demerit left on my license and really didn't want to start walking. that was 30 years ago and I am much more disciplined now. for the most part my 2LT is enough but I believe I will upgrade in a couple of years to a 2SS, just for the bragging rights. My biggest beef is that most of the best mods are for the 2SS and up and I do like to personalise my ride, just like you guys and it is fairly limited on my current model. I can say that all of them are true works of art and there is no end to people liking and commenting on them. P.S. owned the car for 3 weeks now and big storm and hail beat the hell out of my car. Body shop says that when they are done it will be as nice or better than before, GAURANTEED. Will see. keep lovin your cars guys, I see so many people who are trapped in a mode of transportation and wish they could drive something as nice as these cars.

I have a 2016 camaro rs 3.6L v6 and i want to delete my muffler and go with straight pipe. 1 Does that void my warranty? 2 Does performance change at all? 3 Is deleting the muffler bad for your car? 4 If i was to go with a different muffler then the stock, what is a good muffler that sounds nicer ?

    • @Lethalgarage
      @Lethalgarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Aj Toma
1.) It will void your exhaust warranty
2.) Not really, just a sound change
      3.) Nope...
4.) I haven't heard enough mufflers on V6's to provide an informed opinion.

The Borla ATAK is probably one of the best sounding exhausts for the V6. Theres plenty of youtube videos showcasing it.

I really needed to hear this.. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to do so. I’ve watched a lot of your videos, new and big fan here. So thank you for all your videos and tips. I currently financed the 2018 Camaro 1LT V6. Yeah it’s basic, but I’m not a fan of leather seats, but whatever. I got the 1LT because I traded my 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 in (even had negative equity to get the Camaro, but I don’t even care because AMERICA! I just had to have a Chevy. But also mainly because the Geni was a manual and I live in Florida and drive to school during the week, 70 miles round trip everyday and the traffic is nuts so I got the 1LT with the automatic transmission. I wish I knew about the 1LE package before I got it. But that’s on the dealer and myself for not doing my research.. I pretty much walked in and was like “Camaro.. now...”) I’m not a huge car guy, but I’m trying to learn whatever I can. A lot of people were giving me shit about not getting the V8 and it drove me nuts because I mean who doesn’t want a V8? And if they don’t they’re lying. But at the end of the day, it’s still a Camaro. But after watching this I really want to do whatever I can to have one bitchin V6. So if you can, please send me some information on what I can do. All I have done so far is the tint, I had the muffler, resonator and secondary cats deleted and had an X-pipe installed with two 10 series flowmasters, so it’s just a custom exhaust. I want to know what else you would recommend for me. I’m pretty sure you have a video somewhere maybe for V6 owners. I saw the one about the GM Air intake. Would you prefer the GM or a K&N? Maybe do the suspension and lower it a bit? Maybe actually get a legit exhaust? I don’t know like I said I’m new at all of this. But I appreciate you for making this video even if it was in 2016 lol. You’re the man! -Jose

When I was 22 I purchased a 1990 chevy Camaro RS V6. I loved it. I couldn't afford the Z28 or Iroc Z. I am older now. Thinking of buying 2SS. I own a 2016 Silverado LT Z71 now, so the gas mileage will be similar. Buy what you can afford. Think how much it will cost for wear and tear ie brakes. I heard it could cost a pretty penny to replace parts in the high end Camaro. Think about lack of room in the back seat if you have kids. My kids have their own cars so that's not an issue. I would most likely buy a small used 4x4 for snow ect. Know if I can get my wife to agree.

I curently have a cobalt ss\tc, love it, but want to move on and im gm all the way. The camaro ss is over my budget with brakes tires gas etc. I think the 2.0 camaro would be funner then the v6 and with the 2.0 i can afford a better trim package and eventually tune it a little for more power, think im gettin the 2.0

I ended up getting the 2lt RS, now I could have gotten the 2SS (honestly that's why I'm watching this again, I'm getting the temptation of going back and picking the latter) but, I use my camaro as a daily driver so that bit of extra gas money in my pocket is nice. However, the biggest temptation for the 2SS is the potential it has as a car and in the streets. I've been looking around for a month for mods and I feel they don't come close to the variety that the ss' have. Also, watching you build your SS and how close it's coming to a ZL1 is inspiring. There is no way you can try to build to 2LT to compete with an SS and that's kind of disheartening. Idk, maybe I'm wrong, but from what I've researched and seen I'm probably not.

Personally after looking at 0-60 times between the v6 and the v8 and the cost for used ones, I wanna go with the v6 but I absolutely love the sound of the v8 and im worried about regretting my purchase. I've also never owned a fast car I've only owned what I'm driving now which is an 07 Mazda 3. Should I bite the bullet and go for the v6 since it's cheaper?

I bought the I4 because it has very similar numbers to the v6, I like turbo/import cars, I previously owned a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T so it was a very similar spec car and I tried it out and liked the handling a lot and liked the boost. Visibility takes some getting used to but I've always like Camaro style. The 67 Camaro is one of the best looking cars ever built and 6 gen looks like a modern version of that imo

  • @Reniconix
    @Reniconix 7 ปีที่แล้ว

A little late to the show, but I got the 50th SS just this week. I absolutely love it. My primary reason for the SS over the V6/RS or I4T was the look of the grill, hood and spoiler. I personally prefer wing spoilers to lip and blade (having seen the ZL1 1LE review, i'm even more in love with THAT spoiler.) If price was an issue (it almost was until I found a 50th SS used for almost $10,000 off MSRP) I wouild have gone with the 50th V6 RS. Gas mileage was pretty much a non-factor for me, with the new tech that drops the engine to 4 cylinders on both the V6 and V8, at steady highway speeds that are the largest part of my drive anywhere, even in the SS I'm getting around 30mpg, with the added bonus of all that power and torque ready at a moment's notice. I opted for the A8 over the M6 too, while I CAN drive manual, I just don't enjoy it. It's more of a hassle for daily driving.

Hey Matt. Ok, I just traded my Gen5 for a Gen6 2SS loaded with everything except Duel mode exhaust and 6 piston Brembos. My take: I am in LOVE! Now let's not get it twisted, I loved my gen5 but the Gen6? My gawd! The power, the comfort, the tech, the leather, CarPlay, sunroof, race timers, I am stoked. As far as upgrades? I am interested in the cold air intake and I am VERY anxious to add a shock tower brace to stiffen it up a bit. BTW: I've not found anyone making after-market braces yet.
I will be checking out your dyno testing of your intake before I make a decision on which one to get.

I was leaning to get the SS, but I am also going to be buying my first house at the same time I will be buying my Camaro. After test driving each model (SS and V6 with RS), I have decided to go with the V6 with RS package with Bose Sound. Its going to be my only car (daily driver), other than for a yearly charity (Vegas speedway, you pay a fee and can drive a lap, all proceeds go to charity) even I don't ever plan on taking it to the track. I love the SS, don't get me wrong, but it makes more financial and practical sense for me to go with the V6 with RS package. Plus, it will keep my operating costs down with the V6. Currently, there is a local dealer that has a 2017 Hyper Blue V6/1LT, RS package. I like this because I can get custom seats added and not feel bad about covering the cloth seats. I really want to get this car now, but there are other factors beyond my control that are forcing me to wait.Side question:Any advice on Radar Detectors? Once I get the Camaro I am considering having a stealth detector installed.

Yes, I could have bought a SS but with gas going up, I decided on 2017 V6 1LT, now it has enough power to run circles around other cars on the road. It doesn’t sound like a SS but you can make it look aggressive, with different mods, like dipping the hood, rims, spoiler, blackout the tail lights, head lights, the mirrors, this give it an awesome look to my V6 Camaro. I get looks all the time and you know haters will hate saying it’s not a SS but I don’t care. When you see my Camaro driving behind you other cars get out the way!!! Lol

The 2020 V6 is fast as all get out. Haters really do say "you should have got the LT1. My 2020 RS V6 has 335 hp, plus my K&N drop in, and the anti friction Amsoil and my SS Wing from the JUNKYARD for $150, installed for $150, and looks bad ass (bolt on) It does 13.7@105 in the Quarter. The acceleration is SAVAGE at high RPM. Where I live it's so congested that you can't use much more than 340 hp. I got the 6 because low mileage used cars became like a unicorn. I got my car 2020 1LT 3.6 manual 6spd. It's the same Tremec 6spd as the V8. It had 3.5k! He paid the depreciation and I got the car at 2.5%. Keep your credit up and go through your own bank. They would love to cut you a check. I'm confused about dash components between the 19 model and the 20 model. I can tell you that I tinted the windows 20% in the rear and 30% for the front power windows. Then, bought brand new Powered Sub. The battery and the fuse block are in the trunk! Easy install w/ back straps on the sealed 12. It crushes all styles of music. Just needs a little clarity like some Infinity Kappa rear component speakers some carbon fiber on the dash will complete the package.

I like cars that weigh less then 3500lbs, got to have a Manual and last but not least THE PRICE! In my area I am seeing Turbo Camaros for 21K New & some with the RS package. Can't find any other RWD, over 250hp with Manual for 21k that's New! I'm sold, just trying to work out how to get out of my Chevy Ecobox I'm upside down in now.

Ive had my four cylinder camaro for about a year now, its a 2018 1ls with a manual, and its been a blast. And between taking it to the dragstrip and a few track days and just being a bit happy on the streets i still have a 25mpg average for the nearly 17k miles ive put onto the car. And to top it off v8 levels of power out of the stock engine isnt impossible, a tune and a few aftermarket parts like a intercooler and a turbo upgrade kit and you can very easily break 300whp and obtain 400+ whp with no issues with reliability or fuel mileage.

What camaro do you think is right for me
The zl1 is to much money for me
Should I get the v8 or the v6
I want a cool looking fast car
But I'm interested in racing people and doing track day
The cars I've driven are 4cylinder Chevrolet cruze to equinox
But I drove my brothers truck
    A 93 Silverado c/k
    With a 5.7l v8
Driving that thing compared to the other cars
    Is that its loud
    It's got more power
    The pedals are old
    I would imagine that
    On the new camaro
The pedals would be easier and not so rough
The loud sounding engine doesn't bother me
    The extra power
Just as long as it doesn't
Get in the way of my ability to handle the car
I personally drive the speed limit
But I will go fast when I want to
Or on roads with not a lot of cars
I personally like just cruising around in my car
    Just for fun
    I agree with you
    That
    Everyone who likes muscle cars
Thinks that it needs to be a v8
And it's a mid crisis cause its
    A v6
Having a v6 camaro Is kind of like
    Corn on the cob
    For people with braces
    Someone with
Braces can't eat corn on the cob
Cause it will pop there bracket
So the corn needs to be cut off
Honestly I feel the last gas engines before
    Electric engines take over
Will be 4 to 6 cylinder engines
    And most engines now days
    Are v4 to v6 engines
    Cause there efficient engines
    V8s are so loud
    Gas guzzling things
    That not everyone wants
I know what I will say
    Will make me sad
    But it Is true
    And I'm a very logical
    Facts
    Numbers based guy
    Higher performance engines
    Require more gasoline
    Because
They need an extra amount of fuel
To make the cylinders and all
    Internal workings work right
    And go fast
    More gass= pollutes
    I'm not a very
    Outgoing
    Showy kind a person
But I will get nice things
    Just because I want to
I might spend a little bit more money on things depends on how much I make
    And what I can afford
I was thinking about getting a
    Chevrolet Colorado or gmc canyon
    For a daily driver
And my fun car could be a camaro
I want to have fun but I also
    Want to use my head

  • @NightRunner417
    @NightRunner417 4 ปีที่แล้ว

ONLY the V8? Nooo no no. I personally feel that the 4 cyl turbo is a abomination and should not be, but the V6 is perfect for anyone that wants a small reduction in cost, less of a hit on car insurance and better gas mileage with all that crazy handling that makes these cars such fun to drive, and reasonably good power - enough to make a lot of wannabe road kings cry and stamp their feet. Plus, it looks great in the parking lot at your work. ;-)
Passing is wonderful in the V6. See a gap, kill that gap. Blink and you'll miss it. I think I actually enjoy hitting gaps more than racing people, honestly. I like to sight it out, plot the course in my head, line it up like a cat snuggling into the grass to strike at a bird, and hit it with everything, lol. Whoosh and though, neat and sweet. I get a fair number of people that appear to be able to smell it coming and purposely try to cut me off, lol.
Someday I might go for an SS if ever things go that way for me, but honestly... I'm dangerous enough in my RS. Everyone has their reasonable limit on what they SHOULD be driving.

I'm thinking of buying one. I really enjoy the 2SS, but it is hard to find a 2SS with Manual and the right color in my area. :(

Really enjoyed this video, I bought an 09 v6 'stang because I liked the car for the price point I got it for. It's my first sports car and I'm loving it so far but I'm ready for some more power and I have the same goal as you do! Maybe not a ZL1 but something powerful and fun to drive! I'm a college student so I'm working on that first. I have to remind myself to be patient!

I've always wanted a 3rd gen and LS swap it, but recently I've decided to get a 4th gen that comes with an LS1. The swap would have costed me $7,000+.
