Yep! It’s a common thing. The main offender is the Magpul magwell. Which is a shame, as it comes at a great price point. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Yes, I grab them when they go on sale. I've used all magazines including magpul. Since I've only used the Taran magwells I've literally never knew this was an issue
I run 10 round 19x mags sometimes in my P80 g19. Theoretically couldn’t you just use glock 17 or 19x 10 round magazines as they’re both longer because they’re for full sizes. NYS restricts us to 10 rounds too. Kind of like putting a 17 mag in a 26.
Yes, standard capacity magazines altered to only accept 10 rounds are legal in California. As a side note, they do not have to be epoxied closed like in other states.
Yeah, you’re right! I did see that when I ran into this issue and began to research it. The price is great on the Strike Industries magwell too. It’s great to have options. Especially if you are going to conceal carry (in a state with magazine restrictions) it is better to use Genuine Glock mags for reliability and not use aftermarket magazines just to be able to run a mageell. But that’s just my opinion on running factory magazines. Thanks for your awesome input!
I have the overwatch magwell and I have the correct 10rd mags and I’m getting failure to feed off of the very first charge. My setup is nearly identical to yours. Any ideas ?
Not sure, but if you are not having that issue when you remove the magwell that might be the issue. Please let me know if you figure it out. It would be helpful to know.
Bro thanks for this. SLR magwell and 2 factory “Austria” mags that I took with me for my ccw re-qualification and it was this exact issue lol. Felt like a complete moron.
The Magpul one is nice. I have heard and read mixed results. I just purchased the 10 round magazines “with the correct part number” from ebay. On ebay most people post pictures of the mag and you can see if they are the correct part number before ordering. Someone commented the Strike Industries Magwell works if you want to go that route.
@@Mr.MartyMcFry I’m in the process of waiting for my 10 day cool down period to end so I can pick up my Gen 3 G19. I already purchased 2 extra 10 round mags and they have the 22**** serial number stamped on them so I might just wait on returning the magwell. If it works I’ll buy two more. I seen the strike industries but it looks bulkier and it gives off that glossier look.
@@DehTastic Nice any Magwell will work with those. A company named Country Spirit LLC also sells 15 round Glock magazines that have been modified to only accept 10 rounds (CA compliant). However if the magazine ban overturn goes into effect you can convert them back to 15 rounds.
@@Mr.MartyMcFry quick update, today was my 10th day and I finally picked up my Gen 3 Glock 19. To my surprise the 2 magazines that came with my Glock had the serial numbers. So that was a plus. I did install the Magpul magwell and they did work. Unfortunately, the Dynamic Weapons Solution +0 base plates did not fit. I’m still debating on using the magwell and I’ve invested money and possibly forever changing my extra margazines( also with serial number) with the base plates, so I decided to shave down the inside of the Magpul magwell. It defeats the purpose at this point but I have more surface area for my pinky to rest.

would a +0 basepad/plate for the oem “austria” 10rd help it seat fully in a magwell? i’m looking for a fix for a g23 gen 3 but harder to find compatible mag solutions compared to a g19 :/
From my observation and by swapping out the Austria baseplate to the compatible magazine, it seems part of the issue is the magazine catch cutout. So the notch on the magazine body has different tolerances. So its not a baseplate issue alone.
Aftermarket magazines such as the Magpul Glock 19 and ETS magazines work with Gen 3 Glock 19 aftermarket magwells as well.
