- Learn how to make an Apple bonsai tree! In this video we show you how to prune and wire an Apple tree (Malus domestica) of about 15 years old. The video was shot in autumn, so the tree was full of tiny apple trees.
Bonsai Empire is dedicated to share the living art of Bonsai - we created this video as a DIY tutorial to help and motivate beginners. The video is part of the online courses that we offer, for more free videos go to:

Few years ago I’ve learned that you can literally make everything into bonsai and man i have unintentional bonsai from pomegranate it’s also gave small fruits i never saw it being done on apple tree and fruits looks cute!
That's the beauty of Bonsai, building a collection with all these different tree species!
@@bonsaiempire such an exquisite art! They does have a charm I'm glad someone have a dedicated media to show it. Never thought of these really small bonsai, definitely might try to craft or either bought one day thanks
@@MineralMouse yep, aside from it's unusual size, it's still edible and sweet. Quite "portable" to carry in pocket

Nice little apple. It looks very healthy.
Beautiful tree. Nice demonstration.
Thank you, glad you liked it Margaret
Who else wants to eat those apples
Well as long as the tree is not genetically modified then the apples are actually edible
@@archieandarlo7702 lol every had a sweet potato?
@@a1tanner528some genetic modifications can change the plant for some properties (ie making them able to last in a small size) however sacrificing some other properties such as the edibility of the fruit, that apple (if genetically modified) may be edible but it could be extremely bitter or overly sour, just because something is edible, doesn’t mean it’s palatable 😅.
🙋🏻♂️
What a peaceful background 😇😇
I made a peach bonsai....the flowers looked so cute ......it takes away all my stress....
I just got my seeds. I’ve never grown a thing in my life. I’m starting to do as much research as possible. Any advice from viewers is much appreciated 🙏
Do those apples taste any good?
Wow cute Apple bonsai❤️
Круто яблоня очень редкий бонсай. Красота невозможно оторвать взгляд.😍
Beautiful healthy tree. I have an apple tree that I've been growing from a seed for 4-5 years now, but it gets really bad rust on the leaves in the spring. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening next year?
Neem oil
@@frankboy619 do you put been oil on the leaves?
@@chrisgonzalez9940 u can spray it on tree or apply by ur hand on leaves
Most wonderful art
Woww...very beautiful😍😍😍
I love bonsai tree
Is the best..
Thanks for sharing...
Mr, i like your videos
Very nice information thanks so much sir.
What is the ratio of thickness of wire and the branch? Every time I watch your presentation I learn something new. Again and again watching is improving the skills. Last few years I am growing many Apple seedlings from seeds and I have not started any wiring. Please advise what age of the new plant I should start wiring to shape them?
I hope this might help you: www.bonsaiempire.com/basics/styling/wiring
wooow...beautiful apple bonsai tree...
thanks for sharing this video
My little apple tree (even tho shes not really a tree rn lol) is 3 months old. Ahe still has a loooooong way to be that pretty but am sure she can make it!
Absolutely - just keep it happy and healthy :)
Is it possible to keep fruit trees indoors on like a windowsill?
My younger sister is in love with cherries and i told her I would make her a cherry tree though I wanted it to be one that if we ever moved, we could easily take it with us. A little bonsai would be perfect especially since she’s little so she could pick them herself!
These really are outdoor trees, keeping them indoors for a while is ok but not beneficial to their health!
如果盆景在里面,就盆景会死。
its cute
Very nice
Usualy, we do the structure pruning (styling and cutting big branches) during automn or early winter, when there is no leaves. But, you do that when the foliage is still there. So, when is the best moment to do the structure pruning?
Hi there! Structurally pruning an Apple bonsai is best done in fall, just after the leaves have dropped. When we pruned the tree about half the leaves had come off already and we could already identify the new buds. During the growing season we will trim back new shoots to one or two leaves when they grow overly long and thicken too much.
Your apple has been grown from seed, right? I can tell by the tiny apples and the fact that they grow in clusters, similar to hawthorns.
Woow amazing 😍👍
That is crazy. How did you do it. Make a long video.

Is this normal apple tree or a small varity one?& I have another question . can we grow fruits small for bonasai ?
This is a crabapple!
OMG nice tree
las podas de deben realzar cuando la planta esta agostada osea sin hojas para que las heridas provocadas por las tijeras de podar no caucen alguna enfermedad
Wil a bonsai apple tree always produce little apples instead of regular sized?
If its the crabapple, yes :)
good
Can you eat the apples?
If you plant the seeds of this tree will they be bonsai ?
Bonsai the art form not the tree you can make a bonsai out of any tree
Really is it apples on the tree looking like cherry😳😳😲😲
Is it possible to create such an masterpiece from seed ?
Of course!
hello! great videos! is the tree grafted?
No it isn't!
Can I still prune and wire my apple now? The cold temperature does not hurt him ?
does those fruits contain seeds , and how will these seeds grow
So wiring and pruning is possible in october? because i bought a golden hornet apple tree few weeks ago... when repotting and cutting roots? March?
That curled root though, ughh!
Yes, that will be removed on the next repotting :)
Excellent. In what season do you prune and wire?
This was done in fall. Wiring can be done when the leaves drop.
@@bonsaiempire Thank you so much. Keep up the great work.
At how many years will a tree start fruiting??
Awesome..
Do the apples actually taste?
Cute
Nice
Thoes Apples look like cherries 🍒😄
That is a real apple? 😲
Is thid Apple have a seeds and csn grow with IT ?
nice
Are those fruits edible?
Do you mean "are they safe to eat?", or "are they tasty?" I'm no expert but I'm sure they would be safe to eat.
@@keithklassen5320 no i stick with my comment. Try to search the word "edible" in your google so that you can compare your grammar against mine. And if ever I'm wrong thank you for correcting me.
are those tiny apple edible ? if so imagine making mini apple pie with those lol
I think they are, just not very tasty :)
What type of apple is your apple tree; and how old is it? I only have 'Ida Red'' apple trees. For they grow so fast. Thank-you. We are in the Pacific North-West. I have apple tree branches in water in a bucket in the house.Usually only four out of five make it. Thanks for your demonstration, it is the first apple tree for Bonsai I have seen on TH-cam. I'm not sure why, for [I think} they are good canidates for Bonsai They wire well. Not brittle.
This is a Malus domestica, and indeed it is a great tree species for Bonsai!
those apples are the size of cherries
Some people say not to prune in autumn and this is done in autumn. Sometimes information can be really confusing.
Because it all depends on many things, and generalizations are hard to make - your local season, the tree species, how much you intend to prune, the health of the tree...
oh god😍😍😍😍
I was told that apples are unfruitful meaning they will only produce fruit when pollinated from another tree. How did you get it to fruit?
Put it outside with another one
Give stip to grow it
Kun je het boompje in huis houden i.p.v. buiten?
Apple trees are not indoor bonsai - they need the seasons
@@bonsaiempire thank you! Love your video

How do the apples taste?
Haven't tried! But I don't think they'll taste any good
@@bonsaiempire true. Although maybe youd be able to put the seeds (assuming the apples have any of them) to use?
Can you eat them?
takes a beautiful plant and makes it hideous
dont lie to me those are cherries
I want to eat those apples first

Your garden better looking than you thats a gardener
Can't argue with that, this garden is exceptional :-)
Tree binding seems as cruel & unnatural as foot binding. The tree looked nicer at the beginning. Poor thing.
The way bonsai trees are pampered, trust me when I say they are healthier than any tree in the wild. Pests are controlled, trees are cleaned
That is patently ridiculous. Is it cruel to cut down trees to use them for construction, or to cut flowers to use in bouquets, or to rip out tubers out of the ground to make french fries? You can't equate how we treat plants to how we treat animals.
Tree should plant on the land on the ground not in the pot horrendous
@@BlackbaronsZzz Nope, trees can be planted anywhere. They self-sow on rock crevices, cliffs, gutters, and sidewalk cracks. There is literally no reason that trees should not be planted in containers. Trees are not puppies.
@@prana2000 you’re killing it’s natural habitats and their entire ecosystem
Very nice
Can you eat the apples?
I think you could! Probably won't taste great though :)
