  • Learn how to make an Apple bonsai tree! In this video we show you how to prune and wire an Apple tree (Malus domestica) of about 15 years old. The video was shot in autumn, so the tree was full of tiny apple trees.
    Bonsai Empire is dedicated to share the living art of Bonsai - we created this video as a DIY tutorial to help and motivate beginners. The video is part of the online courses that we offer, for more free videos go to:

    My younger sister is in love with cherries and i told her I would make her a cherry tree though I wanted it to be one that if we ever moved, we could easily take it with us. A little bonsai would be perfect especially since she’s little so she could pick them herself!

    Usualy, we do the structure pruning (styling and cutting big branches) during automn or early winter, when there is no leaves. But, you do that when the foliage is still there. So, when is the best moment to do the structure pruning?

    • @bonsaiempire
      @bonsaiempire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi there! Structurally pruning an Apple bonsai is best done in fall, just after the leaves have dropped. When we pruned the tree about half the leaves had come off already and we could already identify the new buds. During the growing season we will trim back new shoots to one or two leaves when they grow overly long and thicken too much.
